PARRILL, LAURA

December 17, 1936 - September 8, 2024

It is with great regret that the family of the late Laura Parrill announce her passing at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, on September 8, 2024 at the age of 87 years.

Laura loved everyone. She loved her darts and her dart ladies. Her family meant the world to her and she loved having them all in her home, whether it was for a game of cards, meal, or a cup of tea- everyone was welcomed.

Her knitting needles were never too far from her. Sewing was also another favourite pastime, regardless if it was quilts, or hemming pants or curtains.

Laura will always be loved and remembered by, her Daughters: Gladys (Wilga), Louise (Steve), Viona (Gary), Dorothy (Kevin), Patsy (Marvin), Ruby (Barry); Grandchildren: Prudi (Kenny), Christina (Baxter), Merlin (Lynn), Christopher (Corina), Marvis, Cecil (Christa), Johnathon (Natasha), Monty (Tia), David (Colleen), Lori-Ann (Mike), Andrew, Joshua (Kim); 12 Great-grandchildren; Sisters: Rosie (Phil), Mamie Ellen, Sarah, Lavenia (Tom); Brother: Stedman (Pauline); Special In-laws: Wallace (Thamsie), In-laws: Stewart (Juanita), Hazel, Dulcie, Beulah (Bruce), Rachel, Violet; Best Friend: Rachel, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She is predeceased by her Husband: Cecil; Parents: Azariah and Elizabeth McLean; In-laws: Albert and Laura Parrill; Siblings: Norman, Jimmy and a circle of other in-laws.

Visitation to take place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 10, 2024 with the family service taking place at 8:00 PM that evening. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow in Eddies Cove. Register to View the Funeral.

WAY, IVY

February 28, 1955 - August 27, 2023

Ivy passed away August 27, 2023 at the age of 68 years.

She was a hardworking woman who loved her family dearly. She is loved and missed beyond measure.

Ivy leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, her husband of 42 years, Stewart Way; Daughter: Tana Way; Grandson/Son: Jaden Way; Grandsons: Jagger Coles, Jaxon Coles; Brother: Kirby (Marion); Sister: Phoebe (the late Baxter Hughes), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her Son: Darryl Way; Parents: George and Una Coates; Brothers: Ross, Stan, and Winston; Sister: Hazareth.

Visitation to take place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove beginning the afternoon of Friday, September 1, 2023, with the family service to take place at 7:30 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2023 with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow.

PARRILL, WILSON

Passed peacefully away on the 1st of December 2022 Mr. Wilson Parrill of Eddies Cove East in his 74th year. By his side as he passed was his devoted loving wife of 50 years Violet Parrill, also left to mourn his passing was sons; Boyd (Joanne), Bart (Carla), Bruno (Stephanie); Grandchildren Clinton, Maddison, Carter, Abby and Aiden. His sisters Hazel (Late Walter Williams), Dulcie (Late William Applin), Beulah (Bruce Coates); his brothers Stewart (Juanita), Wallace (Thamsie). Sister in-laws Rachel Parrill, Laura Parrill and Myrtle Noseworthy. Brother in-laws Albert (Barbara Noseworthy), Eli (Dianne Noseworthy). Wilson was predeceased by his parents Albert and Laura, father and mother in-law Leander and Hildegarde Noseworthy. Brothers Gordon, Cecil and John (Rosie) and sisters Marjorie (Nicholas Hughes), Evelyn Parrill and Olga Parrill.

Wilson started work at an early age, going away to Labrador City working in the woods and then working in construction industry, returning to Eddies Cove East to start his family and where he built his forever home with Violet. He spent remainder of his time, do what he truly loved; fishing lump, caplin, cod, herring and mackerel from Eddies Cove and lobster from Barr'd Harbour. Only to return to construction one more time in Grande Prairie, AB.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Strait of Belle Isle Health centre in Flowers Cove and Dr. Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, especially the Doctors and nurses of OBS, Medicine, ICU and Palliative Care. The family would also like to thank those who sat with him during his sickness.

Visitation will be taking place at St. Andrews Anglican Church In Lower Cove beginning December 2nd in the afternoon and continuing until the family service at 8:30 pm Sunday evening. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm on Monday December 5th with Rev. Vernon Short Officiating. Interment will follow in the Eddies Cove East Anglican Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of out loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Thelma Coates, at St. Anthony Hospital on September 9, 2021 at the age of 94 years. She was the last child born to Abraham, and Elizabeth Dredge of Black Duck Cove.
She leaves to mourn with loving and lasting memories her Children, Gerald (Ruby), Betty (Bob), Marilyn (Whyman); Daughters-in-law, Ivy and Hazel; Grandchildren, Gerald (Lorraine), Dean (Madonna), Jennifer (John), Carlyann, Quenten (Sherri), Ricky, Miranda (Sebastien), Robbie (Deanna), Gregory, Scott (Kaitlin); Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Renee, Connor, Skylar, Sharla, Laura, Willie, Laci, Lucien, Ariane, Bobby, Blake, Jada, Gemma and Carly. She will also be remembered by, Sister-in-law, Gladys Dredge and Special Friend, Rosie Mclean.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Willie and Sons, Harrison and Melvin; Brothers, William, Walter, John, Roland, Abraham; Sisters, Blanche, Cinderella, and Kittie.
She loved her family very much. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always overjoyed whenever they came to visit her, always making sure she had pies and other treats to give them. She lived a simple life, she never travelled far from her home in Eddies Cove. She was a stay at home mom who worked hard to earn and provide for her family, making sure she did the best she could for them. After her husbands passing she moved to the Ivy Durley Place in Flowers Cove. She liked living at the home and we would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of her and making her feel so comfortable. Her last few months were spent at the hospital in St. Anthony, we would like tot hank the health care workers for attending to her every need and all the kindness they had shown her while she was there- thanks everyone.
Visitation to take place from St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove on Sunday, September 12, 2021. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. It is with great sadness we announce the sudden Passing of our dear & loving mother Winnie at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 70 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her Children; Perry (Lillian), Lisa(Bob) , Isabella (Chris) & Tiffany (Vern) ; sister Bessie (Stan)& brothers Claude (Donna) & Lou (Emma), sister in law Rachel ; grandchildren: Laura (Corey), Alana, Kyle, Kiana, Dylan, Kaden & Kameron ; great grandson Brody, As well as nieces , nephews, extended family & friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Roland Williams , second husband Maitland Hughes ; parents Richard & Isabella Coates ;brother Curtis. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the residents of Richfell place for being a second family to our mother & for being there for her in the past few months when she needed you all the most.

June 4th, 1931 - March 16th, 2020

Walter Williams of Eddies Cove East passed away tragically at the age of 88 years old . He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Hazel; Daughters Lillian (Perry) Williams, Beverly Dale (Roger) Veniot ; Granddaughter, Laura (Corey) McLean & Great Grandson Brody, as well as extended family & friends. He is predeceased by his daughters Laura Michelle & baby Williams , his parents Henry & Laura Williams & his brothers , sisters & in laws. Thanks to everyone who has helped the family in anyway through this very hard time! Visitation took place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral was held on March 22, 2020 with Rev. Deacon Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed. COATES, GIDEON

Passed away May 10th, 2017 at the age of 61 years. Gideon married the love of his life, June Sheryl Andrews, on November 28, 1975 and spent 41 years with her. They raised a family together. He loved his family, and his grand¬children were his pride and joy. He loved spoiling them and praising them at every opportunity. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loving wife June; 3 children: Cordell, Colleen (Dion), Cindy (Donovan) and 3 grandchildren: Makayla, Cody and William; 7 siblings: Elsie (Chester), Ollie, Lelvie (Joe), Dian (Terence), Fanny, Seymour (Cora) and Elizabeth (Clyde); several aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends. He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence & Martha Elizabeth Coates. Visitation was held at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. MANUEL, MARGARET EDGELEY

Margaret Manuel

Born to John and Elizabeth Parrill on August 7, 1922 in Pines Cove, Newfoundland. She moved to Eddies Cove East at a young age. She met the love of her life, John Ross, and together they had five children. Margaret E. Manuel passed away peacefully on November 20, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. She leaves to mourn her sons: Colin (Donna), Gary, Boyd (Marilyn), Shawn (Mary); daughter: Madonna (Ernest); grandchildren: Lana, Chad, Kent, Brad, Ryan, Matthew, Jamie, Sarah, Justin, Demetre, Brenden, Isabella; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: John Parrill along with several nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, John Ross; mother and father Elizabeth and John Parrill; Sisters Virge, Bessy, Liza, Goldie; and brothers Albert, and Darius (Roy). Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral took place at the St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on November 24, 2015 with Fr. Paul Findlay officiating. Burial followed in the New Anglican Cemetery in St. Anthony.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry. COATES, WILLIAM (WILLIE) HENRY

Passed peacefully away at his private residence in Eddies Cove East on the 19th day of March 2014. Mr. William Coates was in his 88th year.  He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 66 years Thelma, Son Gerald(Ruby), Daughters Betty(Robert), Marilyn(Whyman), Daughter-in-Laws Hazel and Ivy, Grandchildren Gerald Jr. (Lorraine), Jennifer(John), Dean(Madonna), Quinten(Sherri), Carly Ann (Richard), Miranda(Sebastien), Ricky, Greg(Megan), Robbie(Deanna), Scott, Great-Grandchildren Tyler, Jada, Carly, Laura, Bobby, Skyler, Sharla, Connor, Willie, Renee, as well as a large circle of family and friends. HE was predeceased by his Father Nathaniel, Mother Annie, sons Harrison and Melvin. Visitation was held at the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove from which the funeral service was held at 11:00am on the 23rd day of March 2014 with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating.
