In Loving Memory of Patricia Emma Smith (née Keats) April 6, 1953 – April 21, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia "Patsy" Emma Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Patsy left us on April 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering positivity.
Patsy is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Tony Smith, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and adventures. She was a cherished mother to Tony Smith (Monica) and Tara Tucker (Damien), and a doting grandmother to Ty, Macon, Luke, and Lily, all of whom she adored beyond words. She also leaves behind her mother Florrie Keats and siblings Pamela Genge (Ike), Paula Reardon, and Tom Keats (Shelley).
She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family, including her in-laws Baxter Smith (Diane), Manuel Smith (Sheila), Welgia Smith (Donna), Renee Simmonds, Top Smith (Elizabeth), Noah T. Smith (Bernitt), Joy Smith (Emad), Dorcas Roberts (Terry), Julie Chaulk, Connie Smith, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is predeceased and will be welcomed with open arms by her father, Raymond Keats, sister Pansy Keats, parents-in-law Noah and Laura Smith, brother-in-law Brian Reardon, and her first-born, Baby Boy Smith, whom she carried with love and held forever in her heart.
Born on April 6, 1953, in St. Anthony, NL, Patsy was the first child of Raymond and Florrie Keats. She grew up in St. Anthony, where she first met her future husband, Tony, in 1965. They began their lifelong journey together in the summer of 1969, culminating in their marriage in 1971. They started their family in 1972 with the birth of their son. Six years later, after returning to St. Anthony, they welcomed their daughter, completing their beautiful family.
Patsy dedicated her career to the Federal Public Service, where she made a meaningful impact on her community, forming lifelong friendships and offering help to many who crossed her path. Her work was more than a job—it was an extension of her caring and generous spirit.
Above all else, Patsy’s heart belonged to her family. She found immeasurable joy in being a devoted mother and grandmother. She embraced every moment with them, cherishing each milestone and memory. Patsy was a woman who always saw the good in others, radiating positivity and warmth, even during life's most challenging moments. Thoughtful and selfless, Patsy had a way of putting others before herself, ensuring that those she loved always felt supported and cared for.
She had a unique ability to bring joy and energy to every gathering. A true social butterfly, Patsy was the heart of any event, always ready for fun and laughter. Her presence was a light that brightened every room, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Patsy’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will be treasured always.
Visitation at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, NL from 2-4pm and 5-7pm Wednesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 24. The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 25th, 2025 from the St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony, Rev. Arthur Kinsella Officiating.
