Julia White
April 5, 1933 – April 20, 2025
It is with full hearts and cherished memories that the family of the late Julia White announce her peaceful passing on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in 1933 to Dorcas and Henry Genge, Julia grew up in Flowers Cove surrounded by the love, laughter, and liveliness of her 11 siblings. Her early years were filled with the kind of hard work and heart that shaped her into the extraordinary woman she became.
She later married the love of her life, Ronald White, and together they built a life in Main Brook where they raised their four children. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Julia’s heart was always at the center of her home. Later, she moved back to Savage Cove, where she spent the last 50+ years surrounded by the people and place she loved.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald White and dear son Clyde White, her parents Henry and Dorcas Genge, and her siblings Constance Genge, Lillian Genge, Josie Mitchelmore (Reginald), Garfield Genge (Aurelia), Iseral Genge, William Genge, Cosmo Genge (Marion), Polly Whalen (Adolphus), and Ellen Whalen (Ross).
She will be dearly missed by her children Doreen (Ken), Karen (Carl), and Ronnie (Marilyn), and daughter-in-law Lavenia. She was a proud and loving Nan and great Nan to her 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her deeply and knew her affectionately as Nan/Nanny White.
Also mourning her loss are her dear brothers Henry (Alva) and Harris (Barbara), as well as sisters-in-law Hazel and Clara. Julia was a woman ahead of her time—sharp as a tack, savvy in business, and endlessly curious about the world. She was well-traveled, always eager for the next adventure, and never one to let an opportunity pass her by. Her laugh was infectious, her generosity boundless, and her love for family knew no limits. If she had it to give, she gave it without hesitation. A passionate card player, Julia never passed up a good game of 500s, a tradition she proudly passed on to her grandchildren—teaching them not just how to play, but how to play to win.
Julia White was truly good to the core. Her stories, her strength, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.
The family would like to thank those who shared in her journey, especially the staff at the Ivy Durly Place for their care and kindness for the past couple of years, the special nurses Collette White and Jennifer Whalen for their special care and kindness during her last days. We invite all those who knew her to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who left the world better than she found it.
The Visitation is being held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Savage Cove on April 23rd, 2025, the funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday April 24th, 2025 with Rev. Canon Vernon Short Officiating. Burial will follow in the Savage Cove Anglican Community Cemetery.
