It is with great sadness that the family of Drucella Hopkins announces her passing surrounded by her loving family at the White Bay Central health Centre, Roddickton, NL on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 around 7:00 a.m. Dora Drucella Hancock was born to Telsie and James Hancock on February 17, 1928 in Roddickton, NL. On August 26, 1946 she married Claude Hopkins of Englee and together they raised 9 children. Anyone who knew Drucella appreciated her great sense of humor. She had a very positive attitude and loved to have fun. She loved everybody and made it a point to let them know before they left her house. She was a very open-minded, strong-willed and independent individual. She will be missed by everyone who knew her because to know her was to love her. She leaves to mourn her Daughters, Wavey, Shirley (Cecil) Wilcox, Diane (Ross) Rose, Linda (Bob) Pittman, Phyllis and Jeina; Sons, Arthur, Gordon, (Cynthia) and Chris (Bernadette); Grandchildren, Helen, Nadine, Brian, Brett, Marcus, Jason, Jamie, Josh, Jeremy, Jeff, Jenny, Joshua, Colitta, Travis, Trudy, and Deanne. 24 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband - Claude, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral will take place on Sunday, January 19th, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Boyd officiating. Interment to follow. SIMMS, THOMAS

July 17, 1944 – January 13, 2020

Thomas Simms was born to Effie (Reid) and Reuben Simms of St. Anthony Bight on July 17, 1944. Tom lived in St. Anthony Bight until he went to Moncton, New Brunswick to take training as a pilot. After completing his training he worked in gander, as well as Goose Bay, returning to St. Anthony in 1976 to work with Grenfell Regional Health Services. He worked there until he retired in 2009. In 1967 Tom married Peggy Budgell of St. Anthony and together they raised two children, Tommy and Tammy. Tom was a kind man and a great friend to all. He enjoyed nature, his gardens, and tinkering with all kinds of engines and could get anything that wasn’t working to work. Tom was a man of great faith and was always faithful to his church. After battling cancer for several years, Tom passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 13th, 2020 at the age of 75. He leaves to mourn, his wife of nearly 53 years, Peggy; Son, Tom (Sherry); Daughter, Tammy (Dave), as well as his two granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley; Two great-grandsons, Jorden and Jackson. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Bernice (Roy); Brother, Roy (Irene); Sister-in-law, Marie; four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Effie Simms as well as his brother Bruce. Visitation to take place from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 3-4 pm and 7-9 pm as well as Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-8 pm with the family service taking place at 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held from the St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. PARSONS, RUBY NANCY

April 28, 1957 - January 3, 2020

Passed away January 3, 2019 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 62. She leaves to cherish memories, her husband, Darby Parsons; Daughter, Jennifer (Philip) Whitt; Son, Corwin (Amanda) Parsons; Sisters, Priscilla (Michael) McGee, Belinda (Kirby) Newman, Angela (Hank) Dean; Brothers, Winston (Judy) Wilcox, Leander Wilcox; as well as four Grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation was held from the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Chris Hewlett officiating. HILLIER, ALLAN HUBERT

September 25th, 1936 – August 1, 2019

Allan Hillier, a kind hearted, gentle, hardworking man was well loved by family and friends. He was born to Hedley and Pearl Hillier. He married Cassie Burden on July 22, 1954 and together they raised eight of their children. At age 10, he worked on Schooner with his father. He became a business man with his first dump truck in 1964. Later in 1972, he started a family business known as Hillier’s Golden Eagle with a garage and oil tanker which became Hillier’s Ultramar in 2008. Everyone was his friend and he was always there to lend a helping hand and provide his expertise. He was a great community supporter. He never truly retired from running errands and getting slabs from Main Brook. His 1985 diesel truck was well known and recognized with slabs piled high, truck dragging the ground and a big smile. He was in his glee. A wonderful, caring, compassionate man who wore many “hats” to all those who called him dad, ole’ man, pop, pop pop, Al and friend. We love you! He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his Sons, Bob (Jenny), Lawrence (Audrey), Glen (Shelly), Gary; Daughters, Yvonne (George), Joann (Gene), Present in Our Hearts- Jennifer Hillier-Penney; Daughter in Law, Lesley Hillier; Brother, Graham; Sisters, Louise, Dorothy, Ada, Vida, and Neta. Allan will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren. Great grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Allan was Pre-deceased by Parents, Hedley and Pearl Hillier; Son, Scott; Brothers, John, Roland and Kaye. March 2nd, 1935-January 27th, 2019
Passed away January 27th, 2019 from the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony at the age of 83. She is remembered with love by her family, including children Ivy, Ike (Olive); Grandchildren, Georgette (Martin), Sheena, Rain, Teagan; Sisters, Morvada (Garfield) and Family, Sarah and Family as well as a circle of extended family and friends. Susie was predeceased by her Husband Samuel; Son Melvin; Daughters Gloria and Alva, Parents Reuben and Elizabeth; and Son-in-law Dennis. Visitation was held from St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Savage Cove from where the funeral was held on Thursday, January 31st, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed. ELLIOTT, AMELIA ELIZABETH

August 27, 1943 – December 14, 2018

Passed away December 14, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Thankful for a lifetime of memories are Husband Reuben; Sisters Ruth and Mary (Herbert); Nephew Erastus (Sharon); Brother in Law William (Elizabeth); Sisters in Law Pheobie, Bessie, Alice, Naomi; Special Nephew Justin (Shauna); Special Niece Charmaine (Chris); Special Grand Nephew Brody; Special Grand Nieces Elena, Isla, and Ava as well a large circle friends, nieces & nephews, and extended family members. Amelia is predeceased by her Mother and Father, Hazel and William Rice, Brother Elihu, and Sister Gladys. ADAMS, JASPER

November 23, 1942 - November 27, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Jasper Adams announce his passing at the L.A. Miller Center in St. John’s, NL on November 27th. Jasper passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family. Born in Roddickton, November 23, 1942, Jasper had a love for fishing, hunting, berry picking, music and his family. Left with the greatest memories are his wife Betty, daughters Debbie Fillier (Keywood), Kathy King (Craig), son Robert (Carolyn), his grandchildren Terri-Lynn Fillier (Brent), Brandon Filler (Nicole) and Ethan King, great grandson Grayson Randell. Also to mourn his brothers Leamon (Emily), Jerry (Joanne), Dorman (Denise), sisters Clara (Simon), Rowena, Evelyn (Larry), Triffena (Dan) along with a large number of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth Adams, brothers Baxter and James, sisters Lavinia, Mildred and Olive. A special thank you to the staff of the L.A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit that provided such good care to Jasper and his family. EARLE, FRANK SPENCER

April 19, 1939 – November 13, 2018

Passed away on November 13th, 2018 from Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 79 years. Frank Spencer Earle was born on April 18th, 1939 to Alice and William Earle. He was the baby of the family and loved by all. On March 6, 1962 he married Mary Saunders who was the love of his life and his constant companion. Together they raised six children. He was proud to build his own home and provide for his family in employment such as Bus Driver, Construction Workers, Hydro Diesel Operator, and Maintenance Equipment Operator for the town of St. Lunaire-Griquet. Above all else his favourite career was fishing with his sons. Frank was a man of honesty and integrity who loved chatting and having a laugh. His greatest joy was spending time having a meal with his family, especially when it included his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Frank was a man of faith who loved and served the Lord and who left a Christian heritage for his family to follow. Frank leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, his Wife, Mary Earle; Sons, Danny (Linda), Junior (Maxine), Scott (Lori); Daughters, Loni (Keon), Faye (Mark), Diane (Robert); Sisters, Marsha Pilgrim, Rita Saunders, Joyce Patey; 13 Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends.
