She faithfully supported her church in service and financially. She faithfully attended every service, choir practice, round table discussion, Sunday school, and ladies’ charity group. Her faith and trust in God got her through many rough times and until the day she died she had never waivered on this commitment.

On January 17th, 1977, her husband Hayward Canning met with a tragic accident on a logging operation site in Cole Pond area. Having no source of income and never having worked outside the home, she continued to raise her family along with her special grandson Jarvis Canning who was 4 months old at the time. In 2000 Nina moved to Kitchener Ontario to care for her grandchildren while her daughter, Sadie, worked. She lived there until the summer of 2017. When she returned to Bide Arm for a visit, it was then that the family made the tough decision to admit her to personal care at Roddickton House. In November 2021 she was admitted to Curtis Memorial Hospital due to progression of Dementia until she could be placed in protective care at the John M Gray Centre on December 16, 2021.

Approximately two months ago she fell and broke her arm. Her health continued to deteriorate since the fall.
