ELLSWORTH, ALZENA EMMA

January 27, 1943 - March 6, 2024

Alzena was born on January 27, 1943 to Cecil and Ameta Newman. She grew up in Englee where she lived all of her life. At age 16 she met the love of her life, Charles William Ellsworth, and at age 17 on October 4, 1960, they were married. Together they had 6 children.

Alzena worked for 30 years on the fish plant in Englee until it’s closure in 1992. She was a friend to many throughout her lifetime- anyone who entered her home was welcomed and treated like family.

In March of 2000, Alzena gave her heart to the Lord and became a very active member of the Salvation Army Church. Though, when her son, Kirby, passed away it affected her tremendously, as she had already lost a son years prior. She remained faithful to her God, although she no longer attended church.

After her husband, Charlie, passed, her health slowly declined until her own passing.

Alzena leaves to mourn, her Children: Terry, Cathy, Rocky (Jose), Kim (Elvis); Grandchildren: Ashley, Brandon (Beth Ann), Ocean (Aaron), Martina; Great-grandchildren: Alexandra, Sophia, Danielle; Brothers: Fred, Shem, and Colin as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a large circle of friends. She will be forever missed.

She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Charles Ellsworth; Sons: Kirby and Danny; Parents: Cecil and Ameta Newman and Sister; Jean Denney.

Visitation to take place from the Salvation Army Church in Englee, NL beginning Saturday, March 9, 2024 and will continue until the funeral on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Major Crocker officiating. Interment to follow.

ELLSWORTH, CHARLES

Charles William Ellsworth

1930 – 2023

Charles was born in Englee on November 14th, 1930 to Margaret Ellsworth, but was raised by his grandparents Susanna and George Ellsworth.

He was known by most as Charlie and throughout his life he worked at several jobs in Englee, his last job working at the local Fish Store until he retired.

He married Alzena Newman on October 04th, 1960 and they raised 6 children together.

He was a volunteer fireman for many years and dedicated much of his time to the Fire Brigade in Englee.

In 1999 Charlie gave his life to Jesus and became a faithful member of the Salvation Army Corp in Englee until his health prevented him from attending.

Charlie passed away peacefully at the Labrador Grenfell Health Center in Roddickton on January 04th. He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years Alzena, son Terry, daughter Cathy, son Rocky (Jose), daughter Kim (Elvis). Grandchildren Ashley, Brandon, Ocean and Martina. Great-grandchildren Alexandria, Sophia and Danielle. His sister Vickie Compton, and Sadie Randell who became a part of the family in her early teens. Also, many more family and friends.

He is predeceased by his 2 sons Kirby and Danny Ellsworth, mother Margaret, grandparents Susanna and George Ellsworth, brothers George, Tom, Jim, Paddock, Edward, Fred, Jack and Leander and his sisters Jemima and Olive.

He also leaves to mourn his family on his fathers side, the Adams family.

Charlie made many friends over the years and will be sadly missed.

Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in Englee form which the funeral service took place at 11am on Sunday January 8th 2023 with Major Raymond Janes Officiating. burial followed in the New Salvation Army Cemetery in Englee.

ELLSWORTH, CLARISA MAUDE

February 01, 1919 – August 22, 2019

Clarisa Maud  Clements Ellsworth was born February 01, 1919 to parents Michael Thomas & Lavinia Clements of Wild Cove, Canada Bay, NL. She lived In that village until she was nine (9) years of age at which time she relocated To Canada Harbour to start a career in house keeping. At twelve (12) years of age she moved to Gray Island to do house keeping for a resident  family , in 1933 she relocated to the town of Englee to do housekeeping for the owner of John Reeves Ltd. While at and during her stay in that community she met the love of her life (Patrick Stephen Ellsworth, deceased) and on November 23, 1935 these two were joined together in marriage and moved to Roddickton to take up permanent residence in that community. She was blessed with 9 children, 4 sons, and 5 daughters, she at that time took on and dedicated herself to a full time live in mom. On September of 2015 at the age of 96 yrs she was admitted to the Grenfell Hospital in St. Anthony and on March of 2016 she took up residence at the John Gray long term care center where she remained until she passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord whom she loved and served she will be forever remembered  and sadly missed by her family & friends. She leaves to mourn sons: Ronald (Hazel) Reginald, Myer (Denise), Colin (Lorinda), daughters: Josephine, Sadie (Roy), Joan & Sheila, 25 grand children, 47 great grand children, and 12 great great grand children. Visitation was held from the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton. The funeral was held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Angel officiating. Interment followed. ELLSWORTH, ROLAND

Roland was born to Thomas and Jessie Ellsworth on April 21st, 1935 in Englee, NL. He married Stella Loder of Harbour Deep on July 5th, 1956. Roland made his living by working in the woods, fishing, and working in the fish plant as a cutter. He also spent time working in construction work. Roland gave his heart to the Lord under the ministry of Pastor Peckford. Roland slipped away into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He leaves to cherish memories his Brothers Ralph (Shirley), Ron (Wavey); Sisters Lily, and Drucilla as well as his nephews, nieces, and many other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Stella; His parents Thomas and Jessie, and by his sister Audrey. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral was held on July 7th, 2017 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed in the new Pentecostal Cemetery in Englee. ELLSWORTH, AUDREY ALICE

Passed away at her private residence in Englee on March 13th, 2017 at the age of 76 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her brothers Roland, Ralph (Shirley), and Ronald (Wavey); Sisters Lillian Pilgrim and Drucella Parsons as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents Thomas and Jessie Ellsworth. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held Friday, March 17th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor George Burton officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.
