It is with heavy hearts that the family of Catherine (Katie) Frances Buchanan announce her passing at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on April 20, 2023. She was in her 27th year.

Katie was born to Louise Reid and Andrew Patey on September 22, 1995. She came into this world early weighing only 4lb 7oz but she was a fighter from the beginning. Her brother often remarked that her red hair was her warning label and that anyone who got in her way should have known better.

Sometimes you know you’ve met someone special and that’s how most people felt when meeting our Katie. She was non-verbal but somehow you knew she had an awesome sense of humor and had the greatest laugh ever.

Katie loved music and dancing; she adored beef jerky and swimming. She loved to people-watch but hated it when people would touch her hair. She was curious by nature and loved to go for drives to see the sites.
