APPLIN, WALTER ROYAL

August 27th, 1955 - May 5th, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Royal Applin announce his passing at his home in Shoal Cove West on Friday, May 5th at the age of 67 years.

Royal fished along side his brother Howard until 2004 when his sickness first took hold.

Royal leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his partner Mary Ann, daughter Amanda, Granddaughter Destiny (Riley), Great Grandson Leo, Brother Howard (Mildred), Sisters Ellen, Louisa (Lorenzo), Special nieces Bernice (Andy) & Nakita(Jonathan), nephews Walter (Matthew), Dennis (Cassie), Norman (Lisa), Shane(Lucy), Truman (Bernice), Nieces Sheilagh (Lloyd), Lisa (Jim), Christine, Celia (Ward), Ellen(Mike) & families, sister & brother in laws Casey, Connie, Marie, Nancy, Joanne, Kelly, Patsy, Elaine, Robin & Donald, special cousin & friend Isaac Coombs (Kim).

Royal was predeceased by his parents Mahala & Walter Applin, Mother & Father In Law Mary & Donald Buckle, Sister Marjorie (Nat) Gibbons, nephews Royal & Herman Gibbons.

Bernice would like to send a special thanks over the past year to Dennis Gibbons who has went above and beyond with taking Uncle Royal to all his appointments. Dennis was always ready to go when I couldn't. This meant more to both me and Uncle Royal than he'll ever realize. The bond between these two were more than just Uncle/Nephew. I cannot thank Dennis enoughfor everything he has done. Another cousin/friend, Isaac Coombs, was always there whenever Uncle Royal needed anything. He was always only a phone call away and was ready to do anything that he needed done.

The family would like to thank Beverly Ann Myers/Reid for being a quick response to our phone call on the night he passed. Thank you for making phone calls that needed to be made. Thank you to Tracy House, Dr. Irfan, Ced Caines, Zack Osmond and the Nursing Staff at RGHC, and the RCMP for the compassion that was shown to myself and the rest of the family.

Visitation to take place from St. Margaret‘s of Scotland Anglican Church in Reefs Harbour on Friday, May 12, 2023 with the family service taking place in the evening. The funeral will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Coates officiating.

APPLIN, ELIZABETH JANE (Nee Woodward)

October 18, 1940 - June 24, 2022

Jane was born in Boat Harbour to Elder and Muriel Woodward. She was raised there until she went to St. Anthony to work at the hospital. On May 8, 1962 she married Gordon Applin. They lived in St. Anthony for a number of years before moving back to St. Barbe. She and Gordon had two children Dennis and Sheila. Jane was an active woman who loved knitting and enjoyed card games, berry picking, gardening and camping. She and Gord enjoyed working in their garden as well as spending time in their camper. On Friday Jane passed peacefully away.

Jane is survived by her husband of 60 years Gordon as well as her children Dennis (Mary Ann), and Sheila (Bob), also her grandchildren Shannon (Angela), Kerry (Lisa) and Mateo (Charlotte).and great-grand children Ella and Evan. She is also survived by her sisters Eleanor, Gladys, Ethel, and brother George.

She is predeceased by her parents Elder and Muriel, brothers Nelson and Harrison, and sisters Bessie, and Evangeline. She will be sadly missed.

Visitation to take place from the United Church in Pidgeon Cove beginning the evening of Sunday, June 26, 2022 and will continue until the funeral on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 2:00pm with Rev, John McGonigle officiating. Interment to follow.

APPLIN, LORRAINE (NEÉ HODGE)

Passed away on December 22nd, 2017 at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Husband Harvey; Children Colin, Maxine (Mike), Junior (Joanne), Natasha (Glen); Grandchildren Dana (Scott), Courtney (Evan), Dara (Danny), Charli (Archie), Michael, Cody (Kayla), Lukas, Keegan; Great Grandchildren Devon, Dawson, Kaiden, Deacon, Isabella, Dava, Kenza; Sisters Olga and Family, Minnie and Family; Brother Scott and Family; Sister-in-law Sybil and Family, Hazel and Family, Kit and Family, The Late Edith and Family; Brothers-in-law Kirby and Family, Phil and Family, Wilson and Family, Harvey and Family, The Late Eric and Family. She was Predeceased by her Son John Samuel Applin; Parents John Hodge, Ellen Way, Stephen Way; Parent-in-law Samuel and Naomi Applin; Brothers Sterling Hodge, Clifford Way, Lloyd Way; Sister Lucy Way; Sisters-in-law Alma, Vina, Mae, and Ivy Applin. Visitation was held from St. Marks Anglican Church in Savage Cove until the funeral on December 30th, 2017 at 9:30 am with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. APPLIN, EDGAR JR.

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 30th April 2015, Mr. Edgar Applin Jr. of Pigeon Cove was in his 86th year. He leaves to mourn with loving memories his children Leona(Cliff), Fanny Ann(Harold), Ches(Pearl), Gideon(Mary), Everett(Elaine) and Myrtle(Roland), his ten Grandchildren Ann(Ken), Jamie(Shelly), Vanessa(Chuck), Boyd(Heidi), Ricky(Jennifer), Johnny, Mandy(Wade), Shane(Gina), Kiersten(Brandon) and Elgin, Ten Great Grandchildren Michael, Alyson, Nikala, Alexis, Anna, Joshua, Taylor, Aria, Kayleigh, Tori  three Brothers, three Sisters as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Rita, his Children Edgar Jr., Dale and Myles, his parents Edgar Sr. and Fanny Ann, four Brothers and one sister. Visitation was held at the Edgar Applin Sr. Memorial United Church in Pigeon Cove from which the funeral service was held on Monday, May 4th 2015 at 2:00pm with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Passed peacefully away at the Rufus Guinchard Health Center on the 23rd of January 2015. Mrs. Rosanna Applin of Shoal Cove West was in her 97th year. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of loving memories her Daughters Susan Baines, Dora Sinnicks, Bessie McClean(Cliff), Sons Eric Applin (Prescilla) and Garland Applin(Marina), Grandchildren Vira Way(Glenn), Cavelle Gordon(Neil), Amanda McClean, Henry Plowman(Sarah), Jason Plowman(Shelby), Priscilla Genge(Roy), Craig Sinnicks(Penny), Jasmine Applin(Brian), Corwin Applin(Nicole), Great – Grandchildren Hailey, Breana, Hannah, Kayla, Jaxson, Natasha, Brian, Kolton, Jasper, Agnelica, Candice, Hayden, Kolby, Carter, and Ethan as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Eric, Daughter Sarah, Sons Stan, Ben, Jasper, Ivan, and Tom, Granddaughter Darlene, Grandsons Ramsey, Dale, Brian, and her parents Harry and Jane Coates. Visitation was held at the St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Reef’s Harbour from which the funeral service was at 11:00am on Tuesday January 27th, 2015 with Rev. Harold Harvey and Lay Reader Bernice Baines officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. APPLIN, RITA

Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony, Mrs. Rita Applin of Pigeon Cove in her 84th year. Left to mourn her passing are her Loving husband of 64 years Edgar, her children Leona (Cliff), Fanny Ann (Harold), Ches (Pearl), Gideon (Mary), Everett (Elaine), and Myrtle (Roland). She is also survived by her 10 grand children Ann (Ken), Jamie (Shelly), Vanessa (Chuck), Boyd (Heidi), Ricky (Jennifer), Johnny (Waynette), Mandy (Wade), Shane (Gina), Keirsten (Brandon) and Elgin. also 9 Great Grand children Michael, Alyson, Nikala, Alexis. Anna, Joshua, Taylor, Aria and Kayleigh as well as her 3 brothers. Rita Lived to see the passing of her Children Edgar Jr., Dale and Myles, her parents and one brother and one sister. Visitation took place at the United Church in Pigeon Cove, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Thursday November 20th, 2014 with Rev. John McGonigle Officiating, Burial Followed The Service in the United Cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
