Dwight Alfred Anderson
December 22, 1954 ¬- August 12, 2022
After a lengthy, arduous journey, Dwight Alfred Anderson, 67, passed away at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL surrounded by the love of his family. His passing, however, was with the same courage, grace and dignity in which he lived his life.
Predeceased by his wife Judy and parents Alfred and Pearl Anderson.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his Daughter Amy (Gerry); Grandsons Reece and Ryder; Brother Jim (Ann), Sister Audrey (Tabi); Mother-in-Law Sarah Barney; nieces Terri, Khatija and Yasmin; Sister-in-Law Paulette and family; Brother-in-Laws Solomon, Arthur, Timothy and families. Special uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.
With much pride, Dwight’s employment spanned 37 years with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro as a powerline technician. He was dedicated to his job and very connected to his colleagues. He brought an enormous amount of humor and lightheartedness to the workplace. His career unexpectedly expanded after retirement and he became an instructor for the powerline technician course at College of the North Atlantic. He truly cared about his students and took enormous pride in sharing his knowledge and expressing his compassion. Dwight met his wife Judy in L’Anse-au-Loup, Labrador. They married, then raised their daughter Amy in St. Anthony, his pride and joy. Being a husband brought out the best in him; being a Father was what he was meant to become. Well noted, was Dwight’s appreciation for life’s simplicities. He was known for his calm, rational presence. His kindness, his gentleness, was like no other. The last six years of his life were painful, debilitating and very sad to experience. Dwight faced this transition without complaint. He maintained that life was beautiful; his family worth fighting for and that illness and suffering would not make him bitter. His profound love for his family provided them with peace, support and strength. Above all else, Dwight’s greatest accomplishment was his grandsons, Reece and Ryder. They were his inspiration. His sacrifices for them unsurpassable. Dwight’s beautiful nature will continue in them and his daughter.
Today. Tomorrow. Always
