COLBOURNE, WILLIS

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Willis (Bill) Colbourne at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on April 14, 2017 in his 83rd year. Willis was born to Frederick and Jane Colbourne in St. Anthony on August 11, 1933. He left school at age 14 to go fishing, which he continued for most of his life until the moratorium in 1992. He married the love of his life, Reta Rose in 1959 and they had one daughter, Veronica. Willis enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing a hunting to the fullest. He leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years, Reta; Daughter Veronica (Rick) McQuinn; Grandsons Darren and Devon McQuinn; Brothers Bruce, Allan, Morgan (Linda); Brother-in-laws Baxter (Sybil) Rose, Thomas (Sylvia) Rose; Sister-in-laws Phoebe and Pearl Hoffman, Pearl Rose, Katherine (Whyman), Phyllis (Clyde) Elliott, Margaret Rose; lots of nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Jane Colbourne; Sisters Florence, Irene, Marjorie, Beryl; Brother Edward and his favourite Uncle, Jack Colbourne. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Monday, April 17th 2017 at 2:00 pm which took place from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director.
