COMPTON, CLUNEY DALTON

January 10, 1932 - March 7, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Cluney Dalton Compton announce his passing on March 7, 2022 at Charles S. Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL. At the age of 90 years old, Cluney was a man of God and faithful to the end.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: wife Emma of 67 years; Children: Garry (Delores), Ross (Marilyn), Patsy, Rick (Debbie), Boyd, Elaine (Ron), Deanna (Dale), Danny (Angie); Siblings: Joy Billard and Miriam Fillier; Grandchildren: Candace, Nolan, Joey, Russell, Travis, Aaron, Trevor, Terri, Jaylin, Jonathan, Donna, Danielle and Dylan; Great-grandchildren: Liam and Brady; Special friends Anne Randell and Mae Curlew.

Cluney spent most of his adult life as a refrigeration engineer at the fish plant in Englee, NL. He was a man of many skills which included carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanics. There was not a tool he did not have and spent hours doing volunteer work for his family, friends and neighbours. He had unwavered dedication to his wife and family. He was committed to providing for them until the very end. His kindness, patience and quiet disposition will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped celebrate and remember Cluney’s life. A special thanks to the hospital staff who took care of Cluney in his last days who he spoke so highly of.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Janeway in Cluney’s memory.

Visitation by the public will be held Wednesday March 9, 2922 at the Faith Pentecostal Church in Englee from 6:30-8:30pm. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday March 10, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Faith Pentecostal Church in Englee, NL with Pastor Paddock officiating. RANDELL, IDA

Passed peacefully away at Roddickton hospital on June 21st 2021 at the age of 87. Ida was born on Dec 23rd 1933 to William and Annie Randell in Williamsport NL. Her Mom passed away when Ida was an infant and she then went and lived and was raised by Esau and Ester Randell as their own child along with Wesley and Dan Randell. She married Cecil Randell on Nov. 10th 1952 and they had five children; Barbara, Garry, Wayne, Jerry and Barry. Keith was born to Barbara and Cecil and Ida raised them as their own. Cecil and Ida resettled their family form Williamsport in 1969 to Bide Arm for two years and then to Englee in 1971 where they built their home and raised their family. Ida was the prayer warrior of their family and was a devoted Christian all her life. she work on a whale plant in Williamsport and the Fish Pant after Moving to Englee. She was a Wonderful quilt maker and put her hands to almost anything. she was an active member of the Pentecostal Church in Englee till sickness kept her form attending. Left to mourn her passing are her children Barbara Randell, Garry Randell (Brenda), Wayne Randell (Martene), Jerry Randell, Barry Randell (Kathy), Keith Randell (Nadine), Grandchildren Todd (Connie), Terry (Lindsey), Toby (Tylee), Melissa, Nicholas, Tiffany, Colby, Charlee; Great-grandchildren, Ava, Keegan, Tianna, TJ, Cali, Leah, as well as her sister, Elvie (Nelson) Fillier and Brothers, Dan and Naaman (Eileen). She is predeceased by her husband, Cecil Randell. Visitation will be held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee on the 25th of June 2021, with the service being held at 2:00pm the same day, officiated by Pastor Strickland. Burial will follow the service at the Pentecostal Church Community Cemetery in Englee. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Kerry M. HOPKINS, DORA DRUCILLA

February 17th, 1928 - January 15th, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Drucella Hopkins announces her passing surrounded by her loving family at the White Bay Central health Centre, Roddickton, NL on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 around 7:00 a.m. Dora Drucella Hancock was born to Telsie and James Hancock on February 17, 1928 in Roddickton, NL. On August 26, 1946 she married Claude Hopkins of Englee and together they raised 9 children. Anyone who knew Drucella appreciated her great sense of humor. She had a very positive attitude and loved to have fun. She loved everybody and made it a point to let them know before they left her house. She was a very open-minded, strong-willed and independent individual. She will be missed by everyone who knew her because to know her was to love her. She leaves to mourn her Daughters, Wavey, Shirley (Cecil) Wilcox, Diane (Ross) Rose, Linda (Bob) Pittman, Phyllis and Jeina; Sons, Arthur, Gordon, (Cynthia) and Chris (Bernadette); Grandchildren, Helen, Nadine, Brian, Brett, Marcus, Jason, Jamie, Josh, Jeremy, Jeff, Jenny, Joshua, Colitta, Travis, Trudy, and Deanne. 24 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband - Claude, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral will take place on Sunday, January 19th, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Boyd officiating. Interment to follow. ELLSWORTH, ROLAND

Roland was born to Thomas and Jessie Ellsworth on April 21st, 1935 in Englee, NL. He married Stella Loder of Harbour Deep on July 5th, 1956. Roland made his living by working in the woods, fishing, and working in the fish plant as a cutter. He also spent time working in construction work. Roland gave his heart to the Lord under the ministry of Pastor Peckford. Roland slipped away into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He leaves to cherish memories his Brothers Ralph (Shirley), Ron (Wavey); Sisters Lily, and Drucilla as well as his nephews, nieces, and many other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Stella; His parents Thomas and Jessie, and by his sister Audrey. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral was held on July 7th, 2017 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed in the new Pentecostal Cemetery in Englee. CURLEW, CALVIN EDWARD

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 3rd day of January. Mr. Calvin Edward Curlew of Englee was in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with many great and fond memories his wife of 55 years Mae, his sons Dean(Mae), Glenn(Alice), Derek (Anselma) and Sheldon, Grandchildren Gregory(Tracie), Liska (Joey), Shawn(Jessica), and Baby J.J.(deceased), Brother Cecil, Sisters Ethel and Blanch as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at the Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle on Friday January 6th followed through to the funeral service on Monday January 9th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Simms Officiating, Interment followed in the Pentecostal Cemetery in Englee. REID, ERIC JAMES

Passed away on January 2nd, 2017 at the John M. Gray Centre at the age of 56 years. Eric was born to Bartholomew and Velma Reid on October 14, 1960 in Englee, NL. He married Sharon Pittman on Sept 26, 1992 and they had three daughters; Lorna, Sandi, and Sarah. Eric started finishing with his father at the age of 16 and continued to do so until his surgery in September 2013. He also had a great passion for woodcutting and hunting. Many of his friends could tell endless stories of their adventures together with him. Eric had many friends and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He leaves to mourn his wife Sharon; Mother Velma; Daughters Lorna (Dion) Sexton, Sandi (Pete) Budgell, Sarah (Robert) Chaisson; Granddaughters Kylee and Koriana; Sisters Patricia (Dorman), Rowena (Nigel), Dora; Brothers Guy (Rowena), Raymond (Loretta), Alyvone (Mary), Willis, Don (Wanda) as well as a large circle of Family and Friends. He was predeceased by his father Bartholomew on November 5th, 2014. Eric slipped peacefully away into the presence of the Lord on January 2, 2017 at the John M. Grey Centre. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held on January 6, 2017 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed. REID, BARTHOLOMEW

Passed peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 5th day of November 2014. Mr. Bartholomew Reid of Englee was in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of Fifty-nine years Velma, Daughters Patricia Reid(Dorman), Rowena Reid(Nigel), and Dora Reid, Sons Guy9Rowena), Eric(Sharron), Raymond (Loretta), Alyvone(Mary), Willis, and Don(Wanda),  Grandchildren Fabian, Kyle, Janeen, Lorna, Sandi, Sarah, RaymondJr., Kayla(deceased), Brendon, Wallace, Jonathan, Travis, and Samantha, Great grandchildren Gracie, Gage, Kynlee, Jada, Kylee, Alexis, Special Niece Peggy Fillier, Sisters Irene Canning, Annie Fillier, and Rosie Fillier, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal church in Englee from which the funeral service was held on November 9th, 2014 at 2:00pm with Pastor Sansome officiating. REEVES, WINNIE

Winnie was born in Wildcove on May 07th, 1922 to  Minnie and Elias Pittman. She married Frederick Reeves in November 1940and lived in Englee up until she moved to Roddickton House in 2003. Winnie and Frederick raised fours Sons and four Daughters.Mrs.Winnie Reeves passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 4th day of October 2014.Mrs. Winnie Reeves of Englee was in her 92nd year.   She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Daughters Gertie Seaward(Garfield), Wavey Pilgrim(Mervin), Cindy Newman(Barry), Sons Stanley(Carol), Lorne(Vera), Daughter-in-law Eileen Reeves(Everett), Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty-Two Great Grandchildren, Twelve Great Great Grandchildren, Three Sisters Patsy(Hervine),Alfred, Mercedes, One Brother Reuben(Mae), as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her Husband Frederick, Sons Everett, Oliver Daughter Wavey, and Brother Lorenzo. Visitation was held at The Pentecostal Tabernacle in Englee followed by funeral service which took place at 2:00pm on the 4th day of October 2014 with Pastor Sansome officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director. 

 

COMPTON, EDDIE DAVID

Passed away peacefully at the Health Science Center on the 21st day of December 2013. Mr. Eddie David Compton Of Englee, NL was in his 75th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Louise Compton, Step Daughters Shirley Compton(Hubert), Alfreda Kosher(Wayne), Step Sons James Compton (Betty), Kevin Compton(Connie), Edward Compton (Rita), Alfred Compton(Paulette), Sister Cavell Lane(Raymond), Brother Charlie Ellsworth(Alzena), Seventeen Grandchildren,  Twenty Great Grandchildren, Seven Nephews, and Two Nieces as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Earnest Compton and Margaret Ellsworth and Step Son Henry Comtpn. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal  Church in Englee from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 28th day of December 2013 with Pastor Sansome officiating. Passed peacefully away at the White Bay Central Health Centre on the 30th day of September 2013. Mr. Andrew Randell of Englee was in his 86th year.
