Mr. Winston Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove passed away in his home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 84 years.

He leaves to treasure memories, his Children: Marlene (Eric), Faye (Gerald), Julie (Harvey), Milton (Susie) and Josie (Dwight); Grandchildren: Jordan (Kelsey), Danny (Shelly), Susie (Chet), Chuck (Robin), Brandi (Lewis), Brady (Laura), Robby (Cassandra), Michelle (Youeil), Jada (Matthew), Monique (Jones); 19 Great Grandchildren; Special Friend and Partner: Carrie; Siblings: Milton (Patty), Elaine (Llewelyn), Alvin, As well as a large circle of family and friends

Winston is predeceased by his Wife: Dorcas; Son: Winston Jr.; and Parents: Elijah and Ethel.

The funeral service was held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on December 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed in the Green Island Cove Cemetery.

COLBOURNE, WINSTON WHYMAN

It is with great sadness that the family of Winston Whyman Colbourne announce his passing on Saturday, February 10th of 2024 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in his 80th year.

Winston Whyman was born on October 9, 1943 to Harvey and Maude(Bartlett) Colbourne of L’Anse Aux Meadows. He was the oldest of 11 Children. He spent most of his life fishing and working, where he made many friends along the way. He met the love of his life, Eliza (Tucker) and they married on December 22, 1963. Together they had three children, Whyman, Irene and Robert. He was also blessed with three grandchildren Jillian, Christopher and Christa, as well as three great-grandsons Liam, Jack and Ben, who he loved dearly.

Winston leaves to mourn, his wife Eliza, daughter Irene (Cliff), granddaughters Jillian (Andrew) and Christa, great-grandsons Liam, Jack and Ben, sisters Emma and Hazel, brothers Goward, Clayton and Lester, mother-in-law, Delilah, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Harvey and Maude, sons Whyman and Robert, daughter-in-law Diane, grandson Christopher, brothers Clifford, Wayne and Harvey, sisters Faye and Selma, and father-in-law Selby.

Visitation to take place from the Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony beginning on Monday February 12th from 7 to 9 pm with a funeral service at 2pm on Tuesday February 13th from the Bethel Pentecostal Church with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. Cremation to follow with burial to take place at later date.

COLES, WINSTON

February 11, 1944 - February 25, 2022

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Winston Coles announce his passing at the John M Gray Centre in St. Anthony, NL on the morning of February 25, 2022 at the age of 78 years. Winston was a kind and proud family man, a loving and devoted husband, an absolutely amazing father and grandfather. He was most happiest when he was surrounded by his family, friends, children and four legged friends and if it was Christmas time all the more better.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories as his wife Eileen; Daughter Rhonda; Son, Kirby Jr. (Julie); Granddaughter, Jessica (Sandi); Grandson, Luke; Sister, Vernita (Coy), and a huge circle of family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Leslie Sr. and Edna Coles; Twin Sister, Clementina; Sisters, Thamsie, Millie and Judy; Brothers, Stedman Sr., Gerald Sr and Kirby Sr.

Passed away December 27, 2021 at the age of 78 years. Sisters: Lavina (Late Norman) Genge, Gloria (Robin) Hollett, Rowena (Ken) MacDonald, Stella (Clayton) Plowman, Helena (Melvin) Genge & Vivian (Late Simeon) Gaulton; Brothers, Wilfred (Late Olive) Genge & James (Betty) Genge. Visitation was held from St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point, NL from where the funeral was held at 11:00 am on December 31, 2021 with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed. GIBBONS, WINSTON CHURCHILL

July 4, 1940 – January 4, 2019


Passed away on January 4th from the Western Regional Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 78 years. Winston will always be remembered by Wife, Minnie; Children, Marvin, Roger, Michelle, Marilyn; Grandchildren George, Peter, Amy, Alex, Matthew, Ryder, Sam, Ashley, Andy, Jamie; Great-Grandchildren, Hailey, Avery, and Kruz. Visitation was held from the Anglican Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral was held on January 10th, 2019 with Rev. Jennifer Renouf officiating. Interment followed.

SIMMS, WINSTON ELIAS (DICK)

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 16, 2016 at the age of 71 years. Winston Elias Simms was born on March 23, 1945 to Raymond and Gertrude Simms. He was one of six children, one of whom was his twin sister Selma. He lived his entire life in St. Anthony Bight, never feeling the draw to move away from his home. Dick is survived by his brother Alwyn (Elsie), sisters Ivy, Phyllis, Joy, Beverly, nieces Melissa, Cavell, Jennifer and nephews Bob, Byron, Raymond, Corey, Brian, Brad, Don, and Neil as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by parents Raymond and Gertrude Simms, sister Selma Decker and nieces Roxanne Pilgrim and Trena Decker, brother-in-law’s Gerald Spingle and Gordon Thorne. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service took place on Monday, June 20th, 2016 at 2:00 with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. CHAMBERS, WINSTON CHURCHILL

Wince was born on Oct. 7, 1940 to Absalom and Elizabeth Chambers of Blue Cove. He grew up in Blue Cove with his twelve brothers and sisters: Ruth, Stedman, Curtis, Stella, William, Virginia, Caroline, Jane, Wilfred, Sophia, Doreen and… a brother from another mother, Absalom. Wince met and married Sandra Pittman of Blue Cove on May 19, 1967. They had three children; Pamie (Eddie), Winston Churchill Junior (Cora), Shawn (Caroline) along with two grandchildren, Liam and Reanna who he dearly loved. Wince loved being a fisherman, he loved music and playing his guitar. His favorite color was green and his favorite hockey team was the Montreal Canadians. Wince passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He will be sadly missed by a large circle of family and friends. We would like to thank our family from St. Mary’s Bay, Point Leamington, and L’Anse-au-Loup who traveled to be with us.We would like to express our sincerest appreciation for all your love and support during this difficult time. ALCOCK, LEWIS WINSTON

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 11th of June, 2015, Mr. Lewis Winston Alcock in his 72nd year with his wife Joyce and son Paul at his side. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Joyce, son Paul(Dawn), daughter Lisa (Ricky) and 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Grace, Andrea, Reid and Bria, brother Jack, and four sisters: Enid, Kathy (Donald),Alice(Stan), Jean (George)and son-in-law Robert.  He was predeceased by his daughter Deanne and parents John and Gladys Alcock. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony, After which the Funeral service took place at the St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on the 15th of June 2015 with Rev. Fr. Paul C. Findlay officiating. Burial followed the service in the St. Anthony Anglican Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery Fund may be made. COATES, DORMAN WINSTON

Passed away suddenly on the 13th of January, 2013 at the age of 71, Mr. Dorman W. Coates of Main Brook. Dorman leaves behind with loving memories his spouse Mary, daughters carol Lynn (Mike), Tammy (Richard), and Sons Ian (Meaghan), Tyson (Sherry),  as well as his sisters Marion, Eileen, Christine, Patsy and brothers Leonard and Edward and grandchildren Kevin, Katelyn, Victoria, Julian, Aidan, Logan, Maria, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Dorman lived to see the passing of his Mother Gertie and Father Clarence as well as his sister Jeannette.  Visitation was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Main Brook, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 16th of January 2013 with Rev. Harold Harvey and Lay Person Audrey Coates Officiating. Burial followed at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Main Brook. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. PATEY, WINSTON

Passed away  peacefully on​ Sunday  Oct.  14, 2012 at the Health Science Center in St. Johns , Mr. Winston Patey of St. Anthony  in his 62nd year. Winston leaves to mourn his wife Edith, son Percy(Pauline); daughters Lisa(Paul); Tammy(Ken); and Sheri(Miles); eight grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; and a wide circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his son, mother and father; two brothers;  one sister; and father-in-law.  Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony after which  the funeral took place at 2:00pm on 19th of Oct. 2012 at the St. Anthony United Church with Rev.
