SIMMS, WINSTON ELIAS (DICK)

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 16, 2016 at the age of 71 years. Winston Elias Simms was born on March 23, 1945 to Raymond and Gertrude Simms. He was one of six children, one of whom was his twin sister Selma. He lived his entire life in St. Anthony Bight, never feeling the draw to move away from his home. Dick is survived by his brother Alwyn (Elsie), sisters Ivy, Phyllis, Joy, Beverly, nieces Melissa, Cavell, Jennifer and nephews Bob, Byron, Raymond, Corey, Brian, Brad, Don, and Neil as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by parents Raymond and Gertrude Simms, sister Selma Decker and nieces Roxanne Pilgrim and Trena Decker, brother-in-law’s Gerald Spingle and Gordon Thorne. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service took place on Monday, June 20th, 2016 at 2:00 with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. Interment followed in the New Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
