PYE, ROY MAXWELL

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Roy Maxwell Pye announce his passing on October 27th, 2024 at Curtis Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Roy was a very special devoted spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Roy is predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Pye, Son L.S. Travis Pye, brother Ward, and special friend William Strugnell.

Left to mourn with a broken heart is his loving partner of 25 years Nancy, Daughter Vanessa (Dennis), Son’s Matthew (Corinne), Marcus (Christina), Nancy’s children Cecil and Charmaine (Matt). Grandchildren Isiah, Emma, Maria, Connor, Dawson, Callie and Nancy’s Granddaughter Jillian.

Roy leaves to Mourn his siblings Clara Rumbolt (Raymond deceased) Stewart Pye (Laura), Guy Pye (Nora), Lloyd Pye (Ena), Alvin Pye, and Valerie Russell (Reginald deceased) and his sister in law Verna Pye. As well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Especially Nancy’s special sister Pansy and family.

Roy was a long time employee with the Canadian Coast Guard. He had a 37 year career starting from a Weather Observer to a Supervisor of the Loran C. Roy loved to watch a good game of curling and a good ol Toronto Maple Leaf payoff game. He loved to have a good game of cards with his family; a game of darts and a cold one with his friends. He was also very talented in playing the accordion and he loved spending time with his family every chance he got.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses in St. Lewis, Sherri-Lee and Cynthia who worked to get him out of St. Lewis. The fabulous team in Curtis Memorial Hospital ICU, who worked tirelessly to ensure he received the best possible care. All off the Doctors, ICU team and RT, Mike who made sure Roy was cared for right up to his last fighting breath. We would like to express special thanks to Rev. Vernon Short (Uncle) and his wife Aunt Maisie for travelling from Flowers Cove to pray with Roy and his family. We would like to thank the MHA, Minister of Health and MP who tried to facilitate the best possible care. We will be forever grateful for the support and love shown by our amazing family, and wonderful friends, caring for everything from our children and helping with the funeral service.

TUCKER, LINDA

Passed away peacefully at Curtis Hospital in St. Anthony on the 13th of October 2022. Linda is Predeceased by husband (Allan) Roy Tucker; Mother Dinah Kelloway; Father Garfield Kelloway; Sister Dora Burt; Brothers Hubert Kelloway and Al Kelloway, and grandson David Saunders-Kelloway. Left to mourn: Son Dion Kelloway (Christa) Son Dereck Tucker (Jennifer) Daughter Debbie Humby (Chris) Grandchildren: Charles Humby (Cassandra), Morgan Humby ( Kayla), Megan Jones, Jack Tucker, Sam Tucker. Great grandchildren: Logan, Brooke, Brittney, and Anwen; Brother Henry Kelloway (Gladys), Also leaving to mourn: Sparkles and Luna, her loyal feline companions.

Linda’s love of all her family especially her grandchildren far and near was truly special and easily seen in how she bragged about and showed off their pictures to whoever was around.

Her joy for the holidays was true, magical, and infectious. Christmas was a special time for her and she loved all the lights, the trees and all the glittery, colourful, and musical decorations that she could find and surround herself with. The smile on her face will never be forgotten as friends and family came and went and she got to enjoy the true meaning of the Christmas season with them all.

Her detailed daily journals going back decades are a testament to how she felt about everyone. Each and every visit she received along with other daily events were documented with love. She truly impacted all those she came in contact with and will be missed by by each and every one.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony on Tuesday the 18th of October, funeral services will be held at a later date.

Roy Maxwell Elliott, of Raleigh NL, passed peacefully away in St. John’s NL, in his 93rd year.

OLLERHEAD, ROY

November 30, 1944 – July 3, 2019

Passed away July 3, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Roy leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his daughter, Elizabeth (Derrick); Granddaughter, Shawna; Grandson, Matthew; Sisters, Olive (Francis), Isabella (Leander), Irene (Fred); Brother, Raymond (Marlene), as well as a large circle of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation was held from the Bethel Pentecostal Assembly in Main Brook from where the funeral was held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 with Pastor Reginald Skinner officiating. BUSSEY, ROY LLOYD

November 16, 1944 – June 20, 2019

Passed away June 20, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Roy was born in St. Anthony on November 16, 1944 to Garland and Sadie Bussey of St. Lunaire. He was the youngest of four children. On December 17, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mar Compton. Together they raised two children. As a young man, Roy fished alongside his father his Uncle Jake and Cousin Guy. He fished for most of his life. In later years, he worked as a weigh master with Burden’s. In leisure time, he loved attending to his garden, in which he took great pride. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife, Mae; Son, Lorne (Terry Lee); Daughter, Lorna (Todd Hedderson); Grandchildren, Vicki, Nolan, Ryan; Great Grandchild, Eric; Brother, Hector (Ann); Sisters, Vera Budgell, Violet Rowsell, Mamie Taylor; Nephew, Glenn (Debbie); Special nieces, Barbie, Christy, Sarah (The “girls”) as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Garland and Sadie Bussey as well as special friends; Walters Hedderson, and Frank Reardon. Visitation was held from the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch from where the funeral was held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gus Pendelton officiating. Interment followed. TOOPE, ROY JR.

March 27th, 1977 – June 22nd, 2018

Many hearts were broken when such a loving and amazing young man was taken from us way too early. Roy Toope Jr of Pond Cove, NL, died on June 22nd, 2018 at the age of 41 years, during a tragic accident while working on the Trans Labrador Highway. Roy was born March 27th, 1977 in St. Anthony, NL, to parents Roy & Rhoda (Gibbons) Toope, and from that day on, he was a special boy to so many. Roy graduated St. Augustine Central High in 1995 with lots of memories and friendships. Roy always had a love for working in the woods and completed a Diploma in Forestry from the College of the North Atlantic. He had many different jobs but one of the most enjoyable jobs was working many years as a Harvester operator, where he made lots of close friends. Roy loved the outdoors - whether it was Salmon Fishing, Hunting, working in the woods or riding skidoo. A few years ago, Roy began his own little piece of paradise – a cabin – at Ten Mile Lake, which he loved and enjoyed for a short time. It will always be a place that holds precious memories that his family will treasure forever. Roy or as most of us called him, Royee, held a very special place in many hearts. His infectious smile had a way to lighten anyone’s day. From listening and reading all the memories from loved ones and co-workers, it was easy to see that Roy was one of a kind – the Best Kind. The Celebration of Roy’s life was held on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 7:00pm at the Church of Advent in Plum Point followed by funeral on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Pond Cove Cemetery by Rev. Jennifer Renouf. Crematory services were made by Barrett’s Funeral Home in St. John’s, NL. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. BURTON, ROY NATHANIEL

Roy N. Burton of Englee, a well respected and loved member of the community passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Ivy, Daughter Bonnie (Terry), Son Bob (Wanda), Son Boyd, Son Trevor (Alicia). Grandchildren Brandon, Adam, Andrew, Shania, Cody, Mackenzie, Stephan Burton and Ryder. Great grandchildren Kaden and Bree. Brother Wilson, Lewis, Lorne. Sisters Joyce, Elsie, Verley, Bonetta, Alice, Marilyn. He is predeceased by his parents Hayward and Priscilla (Paddock). Visitation will be held at Englee Salvation Army church from 2 to 4 pm (public) 7 - 9 pm (family only) on Tuesday 10 Oct 17. Funeral service is under direction of Salvation Army ministers Bruce and Judy Giles to be held on Wednesday 11 Oct 17 @ 2 pm followed with burial at Salvation ArmyCemetery. A reception celebrating his life will be held at the Salvation Army church following the burial for family and extended family. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice. BURT, ROY JAMES

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on January 4, 2016 at the age of 56 years. Roy James Burt was born in St. Anthony on May 22nd, 1960 to the proud parents of Cecil and Dora Burt and graduated Harriott Curtis Collegiate in 1978. On June 17th, 1989 Roy married the love of his life, Joyce Seaward and on June 5th, 1998 they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter Leanne Jessica and in 2009 Roy’s devoted four legged puppy Elbee joined their family. Roy was a devoted husband, amazing father, loving son, brother and a true friend to all who knew him. Roy worked for a number of years with Fishery Products and in 2010 he completed a Heavy Equipment Operator course and was employed as a Distributor with Professional Business Solutions/ Browning Harvey. Roy enjoyed the great outdoors and would always participate in such things as snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Roy’s greatest love was hockey and he became a valuable player while attending school and later joined a senior league. Roy is predeceased by his parents Dora and Cecil Burt. He will be sadly missed by his family, wife Joyce, daughter Leanne, loyal companion Elbee, Mother in Law Nita, Brothers-Albert (Jo), Gary (Irene), Gus (Cora), Ern, Benson (Daphne) Sister Dorothy (Dennis), Brothers in law-Selwyn (Ivy) Charles (Gaye), Carl (Selma), Guy ( Karen), Sisters in law Marilyn, Eva (Riley) 22 nieces and nephews, Aunt Linda Tucker(Roy) Uncle Henry Kelloway (Gladys) cousins and a large circle of friends.
