It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Roy Maxwell Pye announce his passing on October 27th, 2024 at Curtis Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Roy was a very special devoted spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Roy is predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Pye, Son L.S. Travis Pye, brother Ward, and special friend William Strugnell.
Left to mourn with a broken heart is his loving partner of 25 years Nancy, Daughter Vanessa (Dennis), Son’s Matthew (Corinne), Marcus (Christina), Nancy’s children Cecil and Charmaine (Matt). Grandchildren Isiah, Emma, Maria, Connor, Dawson, Callie and Nancy’s Granddaughter Jillian.
Roy leaves to Mourn his siblings Clara Rumbolt (Raymond deceased) Stewart Pye (Laura), Guy Pye (Nora), Lloyd Pye (Ena), Alvin Pye, and Valerie Russell (Reginald deceased) and his sister in law Verna Pye. As well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Especially Nancy’s special sister Pansy and family.
Roy was a long time employee with the Canadian Coast Guard. He had a 37 year career starting from a Weather Observer to a Supervisor of the Loran C. Roy loved to watch a good game of curling and a good ol Toronto Maple Leaf payoff game. He loved to have a good game of cards with his family; a game of darts and a cold one with his friends. He was also very talented in playing the accordion and he loved spending time with his family every chance he got.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses in St. Lewis, Sherri-Lee and Cynthia who worked to get him out of St. Lewis. The fabulous team in Curtis Memorial Hospital ICU, who worked tirelessly to ensure he received the best possible care. All off the Doctors, ICU team and RT, Mike who made sure Roy was cared for right up to his last fighting breath. We would like to express special thanks to Rev. Vernon Short (Uncle) and his wife Aunt Maisie for travelling from Flowers Cove to pray with Roy and his family. We would like to thank the MHA, Minister of Health and MP who tried to facilitate the best possible care. We will be forever grateful for the support and love shown by our amazing family, and wonderful friends, caring for everything from our children and helping with the funeral service.
