RICHARDS, MAE

August 13, 1949 – August 5, 2024

Mae was born on August 13th, 1949, to Thomas & Delphine Mugford in St. Anthony. She married the love of her life, Clifford, at the age of 19, on September 5th, 1968. They lived a wonderful life raising four children in St. Carol’s.

She enjoyed many careers over her lifetime including hospital support/CNIB, a live-in nanny, fish plant worker, and finally a personal care worker in a variety of settings.

Mae had many hobbies, a few of her favourites were: sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also looked forward to outings with family and friends. Most of all, her greatest passion was being at home, where she passed peacefully on August 5th, 2024, at the age of 74 with family by her side.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: Mother, Delphine Richards; Children; Kevin (Daphne), Claudine (Kirby), Morgan, Jaret (Stephanie); Brothers; David (Patsy), Harrison (Gail), Paul (Tabitha), Charles (Cecilia); Sisters; Patsy (Zoel), Barbara (Maxwell), Regina (Reginald), Sharon (Leroy), Theresa (Earl), Gladys (David), Annmarie (Jason); Grandchildren; Miranda (Raymond), Valerie, Victoria (Jordan), Caiden, Cian, Henry, Ryker; Great-grandchildren; Delaney. As well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford; Father, Thomas Mugford; Stepfather, Allen Richards; Brother, Phillip Mugford; Sisters, Joan and Ellen; Granddaughter, Jessica Richards; mother & father-in-law, Henry & Jessie Richards; Daughter in law, Gail Richards; a dear friend, Caleb Elliott.

Private visitation will be held at Kerry M. Fillatre on Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 6-9pm.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in St. Carol’s, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nath Larkin officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Carol’s cemetery.

RICHARDS, MARJORIE

November 15, 1955 - December 21, 2023

In loving memory of our mother, Marjorie Richards, who passed away on December 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Marjorie was the devoted wife of Harvey Richards and loving mother of Dwayne (Marsha), Deon (Chrissy) and Michelle (Cody).  She was the most wonderful Nanny to Brendan, Aiden, Jonah, Brayden and McKayla.   

Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own.  She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity.  Her kindness was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched.  Our mother was a woman of strong faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.  She was a true role model who we will always look up to.  We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

Marjorie is pre-deceased by three of her brothers (Dennis, Ralph, Cecil) and one sister (May).  She is survived by her husband, children and siblings: Hubert (Beryl), Ivy (Wallace), Telsie (Leyton), Emma, Leona (John), Douglas.

Visitation to take place from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you.  We love you so much.  Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.

RICHARDS, ADELAIDE MARY ANN

June 27, 1935 - November 3, 2023

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S Curtis Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family on November 3, 2023 at the age of 88.

She leaves to mourn, her children: Donald (Neta), Freeman (Florence), Patsy (David), Leona (Richard), Scott (Debbie), and Pam (Brad); Brothers: Fred (Louise), Edward; as well as many Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and a large circle of other extended family and friends.

Adelaide is predeceased by her Husband: Benjamin Richards; Daughter: Jean Patey; Sister: Rhoda; Grandsons: Dana and Brian; Sister-in-law: Margaret; and Brother-in-law: Malcolm.

Visitation took place from Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home and St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony. The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00pm with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment followed.

May 15, 1927 - December 17, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Dorcas Richards announce her passing on December 17, 2022 at the age of 95 years at the John M Gray Center surrounded by her loving family.

Dorcas was the loving wife of the late James Richards as well a Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, Mother-in-law, and Sister. She was a very caring person who loved to spend time on the rivers salmon fishing and on the bogs and hills berry picking. She was a great cook and baker and made many wedding cakes. She also loved to knit and sew.

September 29, 1956 - October 7, 2021

Born on September 29, 1956 in St. Anthony, NL. Kevin grew up in St. Anthony and met the love of his life, Corrine Elliott and together they started a family. Kevin and Corrine were blessed with two boys, Sheldon and Chad. They spent a large part of their lives together in Raleigh before moving to Yellowknife for 19 years where Kevin worked in the mining industry. Kevin enjoyed spending his time in the shed playing darts with family and friends. Kevin was a jack of all trades and especially like fixing small motors and other mechanics. His favourite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, Mia, Vann, and Knox.
He is forever loved and missed by his Wife of 41 years, Corrine; Sons, Sheldon (Michelle), Chad (Megan); Grandchildren, Mia, Vann, Knox; Parents, Charles and Bertha; Siblings, Edith (Wallace), Gary (Dale), Dallas (George), Marilyn (Chuck), Cherie (Jamie); Parents-in-law, Reginald and Irene Elliott; Sisters-in-law, Ellen, Marie (Monty), Sharon (Glen); Brother-in-law, Anthony (Barbara), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his Grandparents, Robert and Edith Campbell, Clement and Rebecca Richards; and brother-in-law, Thomas Eddison.

RICHARDS, TONY BRAMWELL

May 18, 1956 – Oct 1, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving husband, father, and grandfather Tony Richards at Curtis Memorial Hospital, at the age of 65 years.  Tony was born to Abram and Florrie Richards of Little Brehat and moved to St. Anthony at the age of two.  He had a typical childhood filled with schooling and growing up, and later attended college where he met the love of his life Winnie (White) and in 1977 became parents to their only daughter Charmaine.  He spent years working with FPI and St. Anthony Seafoods and lastly with Department of Transportation and Works at the College of the North Atlantic.  Tony made a lot of friends during the years and spent plenty of time in his boat fishing, and hunting.  In 2009 his pride and joy, his one and only grandson Caden was born and life had a whole new meaning.  Being a grandfather was his favorite role and he enjoyed every minute of it.  Tony was loved greatly by all who knew him.  He will be fondly remembered by his wife of 40 years Winnie, daughter Charmaine (Corey), and grandson Caden; siblings Nina (Boyd), Lillian (Wilf), Betty (Ed), Willard (Betty), and Linda (Graham), and In-laws Melvina (Fred), Shirley (late Chris), Calvin (Mary Ann), and David (Tracey); and a large number of nieces and nephews and their families.  He is predeceased by his parents Abram and Florrie Richards, in-laws Elijah and Ina White, sister Stella (Reginald), brother Valence, and brother in-law Douglas.       

Family visitation will take place Saturday, Oct 2, 2-4pm and Sunday Oct 3, 7-9pm.  The funeral will take place at St. Anthony United Church on Monday Oct 4 at 2pm with Rev. RICHARDS, WILFRED JOB

May 7, 1931 – January 18, 2020

Wilfred, a kind-hearted, gentle, hardworking man who was well loved by family and all who knew him. He was born to Clement and Gertrude Richards on May 7, 1931. He married Emma, the love of his life on July 22, 1955 and together they raised five children who were the apple of his eye. Throughout his life he was a fisherman, truck driver, forestry ranger, a carpenter and a businessman. Out of all of those jobs not one could compare to his love of the work he did for his church. A wonderful, loving, kind man, with a heart of gold who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 64 years, Emma; Children, Lillian (Raymond), Clem (Gloria), Loretta (Whyman), Letty (Joe), and Louise (Paul); Grandchildren, Trevor (Glenda), Mark (Jillienne), Billy (Genista), Davin (Samantha), Sarah, Zachery; Brother, Max (Bertha); Great grandchildren, Abby, Owen, William, Mya, Adaline, Harper, Scarlett; a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. RICHARDS, ELIZABETH SARAH

April 6, 1923 – September 29, 2019
Elizabeth Sarah Richards was an only child born to Charles Whyatt and Florence Rose of St. Carols. She spent her whole life as a stay at home mother in St. Carol's, devoutly looking after her children and other family members. Forever loved and forever missed by family and friends. She leaves to mourn her Sons, Willis (Shirley), Headley (Faye), Harrison (Judy), Hubert (Barbara), Lester (Viona), David (Jackie); Daughters, Nellie (Richard), Florence (Freeman), and Alma (Wayne); 40 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 10 great greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her Husband, John; Daughters, Nina and Evelyn; Son Glenn; Grandchildren Brian, Tyrone, Janice, Henry, and Christopher. Visitation was held from the Anglican Church in St. Carols from where the funeral was held on October 2, 2019 with Rev. Katie Taylor- Flynn officiating. Interment followed. RICHARDS, TERRY BRIAN

Passed away September 18th, 2017 in Cambridge Ontario at the age of 46 years. Brian was born to Freeman and Florence on March 7, 1971. He graduated high school in 1989. On September 18, 1995 Brian and his brother Herman moved to Ontario in search of work. He later returned to NL where he attended college in Stephenville. Shortly after college he returned to Ontario. Brian loved being around his friends and adored his family.
