RICHARDS, MAE

August 13, 1949 – August 5, 2024

Mae was born on August 13th, 1949, to Thomas & Delphine Mugford in St. Anthony. She married the love of her life, Clifford, at the age of 19, on September 5th, 1968. They lived a wonderful life raising four children in St. Carol’s.

She enjoyed many careers over her lifetime including hospital support/CNIB, a live-in nanny, fish plant worker, and finally a personal care worker in a variety of settings.

Mae had many hobbies, a few of her favourites were: sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also looked forward to outings with family and friends. Most of all, her greatest passion was being at home, where she passed peacefully on August 5th, 2024, at the age of 74 with family by her side.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: Mother, Delphine Richards; Children; Kevin (Daphne), Claudine (Kirby), Morgan, Jaret (Stephanie); Brothers; David (Patsy), Harrison (Gail), Paul (Tabitha), Charles (Cecilia); Sisters; Patsy (Zoel), Barbara (Maxwell), Regina (Reginald), Sharon (Leroy), Theresa (Earl), Gladys (David), Annmarie (Jason); Grandchildren; Miranda (Raymond), Valerie, Victoria (Jordan), Caiden, Cian, Henry, Ryker; Great-grandchildren; Delaney. As well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford; Father, Thomas Mugford; Stepfather, Allen Richards; Brother, Phillip Mugford; Sisters, Joan and Ellen; Granddaughter, Jessica Richards; mother & father-in-law, Henry & Jessie Richards; Daughter in law, Gail Richards; a dear friend, Caleb Elliott.

Private visitation will be held at Kerry M. Fillatre on Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 6-9pm.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in St. Carol’s, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nath Larkin officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Carol’s cemetery.

BRIDGER, CALEB GEORGE

November 11, 1940 - October 23, 2023

Passed away on October 23, 2023 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years.

He leaves to mourn his Sons: Bradley (Shirley), William (Sherry), and Garfield (Linda); Daughter: Belinda (Mike); Sisters: Louise (Carl), Margaret, Phillip (Irene); Grandchildren: Brian (Sherilynn), Danielle, Sheldon (Erica), Kyle, Alyssa, Allie; Great-grandchildren: Kobe, Kylie, Kalen, Irelynn; Long-time friends: Margaret Mitchell, Wayne and Audrey Hillier, and family as well as many other extended family and friends.

He is predeceased by his wife, Loretta; Parents: William and Sarah Bridger; Sisters: Madeline (Hector), Gloria, Annie (Archibald), Rita, Elizabeth (Benjamin); and Brother: John.

Visitation to take place from the All Saints Anglican Church in Dark Tickle beginning the evening of Wednesday, October 25, 2023 and will continue on Thursday, October 26, 2023. The funeral will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kinsella and Rev. Larkin officiating. Interment to follow.

CAMPBELL, ALVIN

July 1, 1932 - October 4, 2023

It is with heavy hearts, that the Campbell family announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. Alvin Warren Campbell, age 91, of Wild Bight, formerly of Cape Norman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital.

Alvin was born on Cape Norman to the late Gertie (Bradbury) and Jacob Campbell.

Alvin worked 35+ years as a Lighthouse Keeper on Cape Norman where him and his wife raised their four boys.

Before trucks and cars, he would provide transportation to the hospital by snowmobile for anyone in need. He also took on the difficult task to recruit teachers to the area and would provide them housing.

He was an entrepreneur providing many services to surrounding communities such as a Yamaha and Dodge dealership, Campbell’s Esso Auto Body Shop and Gas Station and Harbour View Lounge and Take-out that many would argue had the best chicken around.

In his younger days, he enjoyed boat building, carpentry, snowmobile rides to the sawmill, helping out at the garage and bartending where he met lots of fishermen from around the province.

He loved the company of his children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to mourn are his sons Warren (Faye) Campbell, Randy (Emily) Campbell, Everett (Juanita) Campbell and Craig (Carolyn) Campbell; grandchildren, Tammy (Brad) Hedderson, Shannon (Carey) Pittman, Sonya (Donny) Cull, Jeremy (Tiffiny) Campbell, Monica (Cameron) Campbell, Jessica (Grant) Gaudet; great-grandchildren, Devon, Dana, Tyler, Riley H., Riley P., Annika, Mila, Remi, Reid and Wyatt; brother Lyle; sisters Marjorie and Elsie, sister-in-laws Virginia (Fred) Bursey, Grace Laing and Tamsey Laing.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Jessie; parents Gertie and Jacob Campbell, his mother and father-in-law Jane and Norman Laing; brothers Malcolm, Joseph, Seymour and Everett; brother-in-laws Walter, Curling, Stewart, Lloyd, Stanley; sister-in-law’s Elizabeth, Martha and Evelyn.

Visitation will be open to the public on Friday, October 6th, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, followed by a family service at 8:30pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 2pm from the funeral home with Rev. Nath Larkin officiating. A graveside service will follow at Cape Norman graveyard.
