EDDISON, WINNIFRED HAZEL

May 5, 1944 - October 11, 2024

Winnifred Hazel Eddison (nee Young) of Noddy Bay, NL passed away in the presence of her loved ones at the Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on October 11, 2024 at the age of 80 years.

Winnie was born in Quirpon to Thomas and Alfreda ( Nee Roberts) Young, Her mom passed away when she was seven years old and she became a mother figure to her brothers that continued throughout her lifetime. She married Wesley Eddison of Noddy Bay on January 24, 1964 and raised five children together. She worked at the fish plant until she had her first battle with cancer. She fought cancer on three occasions but always remained witty and funny throughout it all. She always maintained that moonshine was the best medicine for any and all  illnesses. She will certainly be remembered by her family for her amazing cooking skills, berry picking, knitting and making quilts. Her quilts are in all corners of the world with a few in bed and breakfast businesses on the Northern Peninsula. 

Winnie leaves to Mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, her children: Dwayne ( Shirley), Sheldon ( Tracey), Barry ( Kelly) Jackie and Tanya ( David); Sisters: Florence, Nellie and half sister Barbara; Brothers: Lloyd (Joyce), Eric (Moriah), Norman (Glenda), Algie and  half brother Thomas; Brother in law Francis ( Selma) Hedderson. Grandchildren: Marcel, Stefan; April, Alexander, Dayna, Hayward, Erin, Ethan, Amanda, Aaron and 13 great grandchildren. Winnie will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Too many to name but Matilda Pynn, Graham Burden, Hazel Hedderson, Beryl Pilgrim, Karen Patey. Joy Hedderson ( Both of them) , Carl Hedderson ( Her psychiatrist), 10 well fed chickens and the rest of Aunt Blanche's children are a few. 

Winnie was Predeceased by her parents and husband Wesley. Father in law Walter Eddison and Mother in law Victoria ( nee Roberts) Brother in laws Ambrose ( Elsie) Hedderson, Nimrod Hedderson, Stan ( Nellie) Bishop. James ( Flo) Barron. Sister in laws Johanna (Ernest)Hillier, Blanche( Peter) Hedderson, Mary Ann (Israel) Blake  and Sarah Jane ( Willie) Bishop.


Visitation will take place from the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch  on October 14th 2024 at 6-9pm and October 15, 2024 at 1-3pm and 6 to 9pm.  The funeral will take place on  Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow at the Quirpon Cemetery.

ROBERTS, KEITH

August 26 1962- November 21 2022

On August 26th 1962 Keith was born in St. Anthony, along with his twin brother to Wilfred and Evelyn Roberts.

His childhood days were spent in Quirpon until the age of 10. He then moved to St. Anthony when his parents relocated. There he spent the major part of his life.

Keith worked with Fishery Products International until the cod moratorium. He then spent his time doing odd jobs.

He decided to go back to school to become a heavy equipment operator and took a job in Alberta for a short period. He was not one to stay far from home so he relocated back to St. Anthony and took a job with Armor Transportation Systems as a truck driver. That career ended with his passing.

Keith leaves to mourn his daughter Mandy, sons Stefan (Jayla) and Jayden, 5 grandchildren Austin, Kerstin, Maya, Madison and Makinley. Sisters Marie Loder and Wavey (Dean) Patey brothers Cecil (Jesse), Stafford (Patricia), and twin brother Kevin (Debbie), Father-in-law, once removed, Cyril Peyton (and the Peyton family) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, coworkers and friends.

Keith was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Evelyn, brother in law Ralph Loder, and mother-in-law, once removed, Muriel Peyton.

We will miss you each day of our lives and remember you with every tear we cry. We will long to see you and with our whole hearts we will honor you until we meet again.

Visitation to take place from Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony on the evening of Thursday, November 24, 2022 from 7:30-9:00 pm for close friends and family only. A public visitation for friends will take place on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 10-12 am to be followed by a memorial service for family and friends at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be made to the family of the late Mr. Roberts.

ROBERTS, HAYWARD

January 1, 1941 - May 29, 2022

Hayward passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on May 29, 2022. Hayward was born in Quirpon on January 1, 1941, the 4th of 14 children to Levi and Rhoda (Bartlett) Roberts. At the age of 18 he met the love of his life, Millie Pilgrim. They married in 1967 and together had two boys, Wade and Tony. Later they were blessed with two beautiful granddaughters Leanne and Emily.

He started fishing with his father at the age of 12. In 1972 he left the fishery and moved to St. Anthony to work at Pateyville Stores alongside Millie. Between 1975 and 1981 he had several jobs from working with Lundrigan's building roads, helping to build the Viking Mall and upgrading the waterline at St. Anthony Long Pond. He returned to the fishery for a brief time fishing with Gord Diamond where they fished from Belle Isle and later with Clem Patey fishing out of Pateyville. In 1981 he started working with the Town of St. Anthony in the Public Works Department. He retired in 2004 at the age of 64. Although 'retired' he continued to work doing odd jobs around St. Anthony. Hayward was a quiet man and lived life simply. He was an avid seal hunter, loved anything to do with the saltwater like turr, duck hunting and cod fishing. He loved the sport of salmon fishing and would often get up at 3 am to be on the rivers. He also enjoyed spending his days out on fishing point, appreciating the view and chatting with his buddies.

Leaving to mourn his wife of 55 years, Millie, Sons Wade and Tony (Jackie) and his two granddaughters Leanne and Emily who were his pride and joy. Also left to mourn are his brothers Elmo (Madonna), Ralph, Nelson (Sharon), Danny (Brenda), and Randy (Karen); his sisters Blanche Johnson, Louise (Izzy) Lafrense, Joyce (Pearce) Tucker, Ruby (Bill) Carpenter, Irene (Roy) Simms, Rachel (Roy) Parrill, and Daphne (Bob) Richards. Brothers and Sisters-in-law Harvey (Donna) Pilgrim, Lucy Pelley, Charles (Joyce) Pilgrim, Bruce (Gertie) Pilgrim and Harriet (Ron) Pilgrim and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends, including Ed Greenham, Fred Greenham and Scott Richards.

He is predeceased by his parents Levi and Rhoda Roberts, brother Murray, Father and Mother-in-Law Gideon and Violet Pilgrim, Brothers-in-law Bill Johnson and Fred Pelley.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Nursing staff of Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, Med/Surg Unit for their exceptional care over the past three weeks and to Bonnie and Helen in the Cancer Unit for their care.

Visitation to take place on Tuesday, May 31st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Salvation Army Church, St. Anthony. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10:30 am with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating.

BARTLETT, WAYNE DAVID

January 5, 1955 - January 7, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne share the news of his passing after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. Wayne left us in the morning of January 7, 2022. He died peacefully at his home in Quirpon with Cheryl, Andy and Phoebe by his side. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his partner Cheryl McCarron; Son Andy (Phoebe); Grandsons AJ, Henry, and Ben; Brother, Bill Bartlett (Mabel) and family; Leta Bartlett (mother of Andy and Angelina) and Nellie Bishop and family. Wayne was predeceased by his mother Violet, father Joshua, daughter Angelina (Adrian Allen) and grandson Findley.

Wayne will be missed by so many, especially closest and lifelong friends Alec Roberts and Karl Sparkes. In addition he leaves to mourn his lifelong neighbours and friends of Quirpon who shared since childhood his love of Quirpon, music, camaraderie, and all sorts of mischief.

He leaves behind legions of relatives and good friends that are too numerous to list here. Deserving special mention are the women and friends who thoughtfully prepared and delivered his favourite Newfie foods to him during his illness. Your love for him is obvious and returned many times over by Wayne.

Private Visitation was held from the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch on Monday, January 10, 2022 after which cremation followed. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Central untied Church, Quirpon Branch with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. HEDDERSON, CARMEN MARIE (NEE EDDY)

August 1, 1954 - December 28, 2021

Marie was born to Rita and Walter J. Eddy on August 1, 1954 in Pleasent Harbour, NS. She had 5 brothers, Barry, Billy, Raymond, Wayne, and Arnold as well as 2 Sisters, Shirley and Lois. Marie devoted her life to her work and family. She worked at the Chocolate factory for 38 years until they shut down. Marie met the love of her life, Dwane Hedderson from Quirpon and was married on September 17, 2005 in Nova Scotia. A few years later they moved back to Quirpon where she continued to work. Marie loved walking the beaches looking for sea glass. He goal was to set up her own shop when she retired but cancer didn’t allow that to happen. Marie lost her battle with cancer on December 28, 2021 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony with her family at her side at the age of 67 years.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Dwane; Daughter, Crystal; Grandhcildren, Rebecca, Emily, Lance, Lucas, and Gwen; Stephchildren, Maurice and Monia; Mother-in-law, Florence Hedderson; Brothers in law Don (Dorothy) , Tom (Ann), Edward (Lona), Rick (Leona) ; Sisters in Law Jessie (Maurice), Wanda (Bob), Sherry (Edward); Siblings, Barry, Billy, Raymond, Shirley, Lois, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Rita (Pye) and Walter J. Eddy; Brothers, Wayne and Arnold and Brother-in-law, Kenny.

PYNN, VIOLET VIOLA

July 7, 1938 - October 27, 2021

Violet was born on July 7, 1938 in Ship Cove/Cape Onion. She was the first of 9 children of Frederick and Louisa Noseworthy, She married Augustus Pynn on 1953 and lived in Quirpon until his death in 2007, when she moved to St. Anthony. On October 27th, 2021 at St. Claire’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, NL after a long battle with illnesses, she passed peacefully away. Violet will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her siblings and her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She leaves to mourn, her Siblings; Wilhelmenia Styles, Fay Rideout (Donald), Arthur Noseworthy, Elmo Noseworthy (Sybil), Sterling (Annie), Margaret Richards (Gordon), Rhoda Feltham (George) and Eileen Penney (Wayne). She is predeceased by her husband, Augustus (Gus) and Parents, Frederick and Louisa Noseworthy. Visitation was held from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral was held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. HEDDERSON, NELLIE ELAINE

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Hedderson announces her passing after a lengthy illness, on Sunday, April 18th, 2021, at the age of 52 years. Elaine was sick for a significant portion of her life and Susie devoted her life to her care. Words cannot begin to describe the love and nurturing that Susie provided over the last half a century to ensure that Elaine had the best possible life. Elaine and Susie made countless trips to Curtis Memorial Hospital and to the Janeway over the years, and is forever grateful for the care from the health care teams, too numerous to mention; and for the prayers and support from all her former and current pastoral care and church community. Elaine will be forever remembered by her loving mother Susie and her children Terry (Natalie) ; Ella (Wayne), and Dwight (Mary). Elaine will also be fondly remembered by her close family members- Margaret and Jim Wight, Sybil Hiller, Francis and Ernest Hedderson, Walter and Nellie Bennett, Aaron and Noah , Terry and Stephanie, Dillon and Elizabeth, Matthew and Robyn , Jenna, Bryan. Elaine was predeceased by her father, John, and her brother, Bryan. She has been cared for throughout the years by numerous homecare workers, who have been a mountain of support for Elaine and Susie. Private visitation to take place on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 12 pm - 1:30 pm to followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, St. Lunaire-Griquet, with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, attendance at the church service, and visitation, starting from 2:00 pm on April 21st will be by invitation only. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Quirpon. TUCKER, LEVI JOHN

September 8, 1935 - October 11, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Levi Tucker announce his passing on October 14, 2020 at Curtis Memorial Hospital. Levi leaves to mourn children Christine and Perry, sister Pearl, brothers Rol, Les, Carl, Wilbert, Alwin and Gary and a wide circle of family and friends. Levi is predeceased by wife Nina, brother Roy, and parents Archibald and Aurelia. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Private visitation will take place from Kerry M. TUCKER, ALLAN ROY

Passed away peacefully surrounded by Family at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mr. Allan Roy Tucker of Quirpon NL, in his 79th year. Left behind to mourn his loss are his beloved wife of 53 years Linda, his Children Deon Kelloway (Christa), Dereck Tucker (Jennifer) and Debbie Humby (Chris); his Brothers Levi (Nina - Deceased), Roland (Minnie), Les (Millicent), Carl (Joyce), Wilburt (Irene), Sister Pearl Earl (Herb), Brothers Alwin (Millicent) and Gary (Marion); his grandchildren Charlie, Morgan, Megan, Jack, Sam, and his Great Great Grandchildren Logan, Brooke, Brittney and Anwen. Roy was predeceased by his parents Arch and Aurelia and tragically, his grandson David. A celebration of Roy’s life will be held by the family at a later date, after which burial will take place at the Quirpon Community Cemetery in Quirpon NL.

PYNN, EFFIE MARIE

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Effie Marie (McLean) Pynn on Saturday April 18, 2020 in her 83rd year. Efiie as born in Eddies Cove on February 18, 1937 to George and Eliza McLean. She lived in Eddies Cove until she moved to St. Anthony when she was 14. It was there that she met the love of her life Albert and moved to Quirpon. They were married in 1953 and raised their children together. Effie was a homemaker as well as helping with the fishing chores. She was a shop owner and eventually went to work at the fish plant until she retired. She will be sadly missed for her loving heart and sharp personality.

 Leaving to mourn Daughters Annie, Eliza (Bob) and Son Bradley (Peggy). Grandchildren Stacey (Tom), Petrina (Colin), Nicole (Wade), Georgina (Jason), Bobby, Miranda (Stephen), Colby and Avery. Brothers Angus (Hilda), Roland (Effie) Sister Eliza (Joe) 8 Great Grandchildren and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her late Husband Albert, Son George and Son in Law Guy, Her parents George and Eliza, 4 Grandchildren. Jennifer, Tammy, Samantha, Tyson and 1 great grandchild, Danielle.
