PILGRIM, CHARLES BRUCE

January 14, 1947 - January 19, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the Family of Charles Bruce Pilgrim announce his passing on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 77 years.

Bruce was born in Raleigh and spent his childhood there. He moved with his family to Main Brook at age of 15. There he finished High School and went on to Memorial University in St. John's where he and his wife Donna completed their teaching degrees together. He started his teaching career in Main Brook in 1969 and retired in 1998 after a long career teaching and as principal. He has provided guidance and motivation to many many students throughout several generations in Main Brook.

He would be called upon to be Master of Ceremonies at many Weddings, Celebrations and Community Events. In addition to his teaching, principal duties he was also Commissioner of Oaths and provided services to many surrounding communities. Bruce took great pride in entertaining all his nieces and nephews and loved when they would visit.He was a man of tremendous wit and humor. Always there to tell a joke or make a witty comment. He always enjoyed meeting others and striking up a chat and of course sharing a joke.

After his Retirement from teaching he discovered his talent and love of woodworking, he would spend many hours each day in "Da Shed" creating his masterpieces. When he wasn't in "Da Shed" he could be found logged into Facebook. He would share many jokes, inspirational thoughts and words of Wisdom with the World! and a scatter cartoon with Donna's face stuck to it - All in Good Fun.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Donna. His sister Eileen Marshfield (Allan), brothers Clyde (Joy), Ivan (Rena), Sister-in-law, Jean Ryan (Steadman) and brother-in-law, Murray Pilgrim (Madonna), 4 Nieces, 6 Nephews, 10 Great Nieces and 5 Great Nephews, One special Uncle, Edward Bessey (Martha).

He was predeceased by his parents Maxwell and Florrie Pilgrim and his Mother and Father-in-law Florence and Eric Pilgrim.

Visitation will be held from Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home beginning 10am to 12pm and 2-4pm on Tuesday January 23rd 2024. The Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2pm on Wednesday January 24th, at 2pm with Pastor Skinner officiating. In keeping with Bruce's wishes Cremation will take place and interment will follow at a later date at the United Cemetery in Main Brook.

TUCKER, GORDON "GORD"

July 18th, 1945- October 6th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon “Gord” Tucker: whom passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL; on October 6th, 2023.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his daughter Lisa (Norman) Applin, and his two grandsons: Griffin and Parker Applin; and his dear friend Emma Hopkins.

He is survived by his brothers; Chris (Sheila) Tucker, Douglas (Marlene) Tucker, Edward Tucker, Robert (Wanda) Tucker; his sisters; Berdina Gloster, Annie (Robert) Poirier, Joyce Davies, Donna (Harris) Tucker, Joan (Wallace) Hoard; his sister-in-laws; Hilda Hempshall, Minnie (Michael) Noseworthy, Sheila (Darrell) Randell, Sherry Brenton, and Eunice Tucker; his brother-in-laws; Melvin (Christine) Brenton, Willis (Brenda) Brenton, Alvin (Marlene) Brenton, Bruce (Jackie) Brenton, Larry (Rhonda) Brenton, and Douglas Brenton. KELLOWAY, HENRY

June 7, 1934—August 21, 2023

On June 7, 1934 Henry was born to Garfield and Dinah Kelloway, he was the 4th of 5 children.

Henry enjoyed the outdoors from an early age. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with whoever would go along. He also liked picking berries with his sister-in-law, Jackie.

Henry moved to Main Brook at the young age of 8. At the age of 31 he met the love of his life, Gladys Roberts. Together they had 4 kids. When the oldest granddaughter was born, they fell in love with her and took her as their second daughter.

On August 21, 2023, God decided it was time for Henry to take his heavenly home. Forever and always in our hearts, until we meet again.

He leaves to cherish memories his Wife: Gladys Kelloway; Children: David (Tammy) Kelloway, Yvonne Kelloway, Ernest (Angela) Kelloway, Andy Kelloway & Pansy Kelloway; 2 Children away from Home: David & Gloria Gibbons; Grandkids: Dwayne (Patricia), Dillon, Carson, Georgina (Dwayne), Ryan; Great-grandkids: Monica, Annabelle, Aurora; Sister-in-law: Joy Kelloway; nieces and nephews, as well as the Roberts family and many more extended family and friends.

Henry is predeceased by his Parents: Garfield and Dinah Kelloway; Brothers: Alison and Hubert Kelloway; Sisters: Dora Burt, and Linda Tucker.

ELLIOTT, OLIVE BESSIE

January 21, 1939 - April 6, 2023

Olive passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2023 in her 84th year, into the presence of her Lord and Savior whom she loved and served faithfully.

She proudly worked in her Grandfather Ollerhead’s store until the age of 16 when she moved to Stephenville and started working as a waitress.

After a few years of working she moved back to Main Brook where she met Francis Elliott. Olive and Francis were married in June of 1962 and together they raised a beautiful family, shared over 60 years of marriage until her passing. Olive was a godly woman who had a deep and devoted love for her family.

She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Francis Elliott, her daughter Catherine Bishop (Michael), her sons, Jack (Cathie), Paul (Donna), Russell (Ruth), Ronnie (Amy) and Calvin (Michelle). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Murray (Dana), Justin (Jenn), Robin (James), Ravyn (Jimmy), Delaney (Elliott), Avery, Camryn, Raymond (Carissa) and Jonathan (Carolanne). As well as her great-grandchildren Logan, Elliott J., Connor, Astrid and Elliott T. She also leaves behind her dear sisters Isabella Pilgrim (Leander) and Irene Earle (Fred). Olive will also be missed by a very large circle of extended family and friends.

Olive was predeceased by her loving parents Stanley and Ruth Ollerhead as well as her brothers James, Raymond and Roy.

TUCKER, HERBERT

Herbert R. Tucker

March 18th, 1947–March 18th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert “Herb” R. Tucker; in
his seventy-sixth year on March 18th, 2023.

He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories: his devoted-loving wife, Eunice Tucker. His children; son, Christopher (Heidi) Tucker, Deer Lake; daughters, Delenda (Peter) Stevens, Main Brook; Lori (Ward) Golden, Vancouver, BC. And his grandchildren; Alexandra, Lucas, Peyton, and Brittney.

Herb was a hard-working man, who had a deep love for his family, anything to do with the outdoors, and music (especially the songs by Elvis Presley). Although, he would laugh and deny it; he was a lover of sweets, especially Caramel Log Bars. It was nothing to see Herb outside working at something with a record playing in the background; building something new, whether it would be a bird house or his adored “Sugar Shack”.

Herb was a collector of many things, rocks, model cars, driftwood, the list goes on; he loved taking pictures, going on walks: experiencing everything he could. There was never a dull moment being surrounded by Herb, he never failed to put a smile on someone’s face; and there was never a story he couldn’t tell, or a joke he couldn’t make up.

Herb is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruth (nee Simms) Tucker; his father-in-law, James Samson; his siblings, Joseph (Myrtle) Tucker, Charlotte (Frank) Lilly, Gladys (Edward) Patey, Gloria (Anthony) Notaro, Pearl (Gabez) Howell, Effie (Charles) Hewlin, Francis, Verna, and Wilfred; his sister-in-laws, Hildegard Tucker, Clara Tucker, Dolly Lavers; and his brother-in-laws, Ralph Davies, Arthur Gloster, Phillip Samson.

He is survived by mother-in-law; Mary Samson of River of Ponds; his brothers; Gord Tucker, Chris (Sheila) Tucker, Douglas (Marlene) Tucker, Edward Tucker, Robert (Wanda) Tucker; his sisters; Berdina Gloster, Annie (Robert) Poirier, Joyce Davies, Donna (Harris) Tucker, Joan (Wallace) Hoard; his sister-in-laws; Vera (Wilfred) Patey, Jean (David) Cluney; his brother-in-laws; Morris (Sheila) Samson, Deon (Danette) Samson, Gerry (Rosilyn) Samson, Melvin Lavers.

His service will be officiated by Pastor Skinner at the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Main Brook, on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 at 2:00pm.

RICHARDS, DORCAS

May 15, 1927 - December 17, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Dorcas Richards announce her passing on December 17, 2022 at the age of 95 years at the John M Gray Center surrounded by her loving family.

Dorcas was the loving wife of the late James Richards as well a Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, Mother-in-law, and Sister. She was a very caring person who loved to spend time on the rivers salmon fishing and on the bogs and hills berry picking. She was a great cook and baker and made many wedding cakes. She also loved to knit and sew.

She leaves to mourn her Children: Rex (Joan), Lester (Viva), Ruth, Patricia (Charlie); Son-in-law: Freeman; Daughter-in-law: Cindy; Grandchildren: Shane, Janice, Trina, Tina, Kevin (Jaymie), Terry (Joni), Greg (Lyndelle), Glenn (Shannier), Melissa (Jeremy), Chad (Karisa); Great-grandchildren: Madison (Chris), Lucas (Caris), Autumn, Brady, Sydney, Katee, Cameron, Hayden, Brooks, Shayla, Emmy, Casey, Clarice; Great-great-granddaughter: Ivy; Half-siblings: San (Eliza), Melvin (Carol), Joyce, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.

PILGRIM, LLOYD GLEN

March 26, 1940 - November 19, 2022

Lloyd was born in Main Brook to parents, Howard and Ella (Ollerhead) Pilgrim. He was one of a large family of twelve. Lloyd spent his early upbringing in Main Brook and at a young age went to Raleigh where he worked as a Shareman for Mr. Ches Elliott. Throughout his life he also fished in Cooks Harbour, worked as a crewman on a schooner that traveled the Labrador coast, and worked for Bowaters as a cutter. Lloyd loved the outdoors, rabbit and moose hunting, and ice fishing.

He leaves to mourn, Joan Pilgrim; his Children: Sharon (Noble) Foley, Bobby (Mary Ann) Dredge, Mona (Tobias) Patey; Treena (Rick) Graham, Travis (Stephanie) Pilgrim; Sisters: Dorothy (Melvin) Bessey, Meta Holder, Charlotte (Alfred) Brenton; Brother: Winston; Brother-in-law: Raymond (Valda) Hancock; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Howard and Ella Pilgrim; Brothers: Chesley, Ronald, Alfred, Graham, Scott; Sisters: Mae and Lavenia.

ROBERTS, KEYWOOD RAYMOND HARRIS

September 25, 1934 - August 17, 2022

Raymond passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on August 17, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

On September 25, 1934, Raymond was born to Keywood & Amelia Roberts of Ship Cove. He moved to Main Brook as a young man to work with Bowaters, where he met his wife Florence, and they raised 12 Children and 2 Grandchildren. Later in life they moved to Labrador City where he was employed with Iron ore Company of Canada as a millwright, after he retired moved Back home to ship cove and built a new home, he was a very talented man, in lots of ways, electrical work especially, and could fix almost anything.

He Leaves to mourn his Children, Gladys (Henry Kelloway), Barbara (Glenn Taylor), Medford (Lynn), Harrison (Carrie), Lorraine (Gerard Efford), Elva (Eric Dempsey), Jacqueline (Calvin Noseworthy). Margaret (Dennis Anhdrews), Kirby (Francis), Martin (Christine), Morgan, Keywood (Sarah); Daughter-in-law, Juanita; Son-in-law, Paul Flynn as well as a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other extended family and friends.

He is pre-deceased by his Wife, Florence, Son, Johnson, Daughter, Sue-Ellen, and his Parents, Keywood and Amelia Roberts.

WHITEWAY, LOTTIE LOUISE

May 19, 1957 - May 8, 2022

Lottie Louise Whiteway was the first of five children born to Herbert and Emily Patey of Main Brook on May 19, 1957. Lottie met the love of her life when she met Edward Whiteway and they married on June 10, 1978. Together they raised three children, Janice, Trinna and Corey. She was a good mom, but anyone who knew Lottie knew that her six grandchildren meant more than anything else in this world to her. They were dear to her heart and she made sure that every single one of us knew how much she loved us.

On Sunday May 8, 2022 Lottie went home to be with the Lord She will be greatly missed by her Family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

With sad broken hearts and fond memories Lottie Leaves to mourn her Husband, Edward; Daughters, Janice (Kirby Russell) Trent and Lindsay, Trinna (Brian Decker) Kaden and Bree; Son, Corey (Heather) Alisha and Austin; Mom, Emily; Brothers, Tobias (Mona), Amos (Theresa); Sisters, Olive, Vinna (Eddie Boutillier), as well as a large group of Nieces and Nephews, family and friends.
