PYE, ROY MAXWELL

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Roy Maxwell Pye announce his passing on October 27th, 2024 at Curtis Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Roy was a very special devoted spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Roy is predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Pye, Son L.S. Travis Pye, brother Ward, and special friend William Strugnell.

Left to mourn with a broken heart is his loving partner of 25 years Nancy, Daughter Vanessa (Dennis), Son’s Matthew (Corinne), Marcus (Christina), Nancy’s children Cecil and Charmaine (Matt). Grandchildren Isiah, Emma, Maria, Connor, Dawson, Callie and Nancy’s Granddaughter Jillian.

Roy leaves to Mourn his siblings Clara Rumbolt (Raymond deceased) Stewart Pye (Laura), Guy Pye (Nora), Lloyd Pye (Ena), Alvin Pye, and Valerie Russell (Reginald deceased) and his sister in law Verna Pye. As well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Especially Nancy’s special sister Pansy and family.

Roy was a long time employee with the Canadian Coast Guard. He had a 37 year career starting from a Weather Observer to a Supervisor of the Loran C. Roy loved to watch a good game of curling and a good ol Toronto Maple Leaf payoff game. He loved to have a good game of cards with his family; a game of darts and a cold one with his friends. He was also very talented in playing the accordion and he loved spending time with his family every chance he got.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses in St. Lewis, Sherri-Lee and Cynthia who worked to get him out of St. Lewis. The fabulous team in Curtis Memorial Hospital ICU, who worked tirelessly to ensure he received the best possible care. All off the Doctors, ICU team and RT, Mike who made sure Roy was cared for right up to his last fighting breath. We would like to express special thanks to Rev. Vernon Short (Uncle) and his wife Aunt Maisie for travelling from Flowers Cove to pray with Roy and his family. We would like to thank the MHA, Minister of Health and MP who tried to facilitate the best possible care. We will be forever grateful for the support and love shown by our amazing family, and wonderful friends, caring for everything from our children and helping with the funeral service.

ANDERSON, HENRY MAXWELL

1927 - 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Henry Anderson announce his passing. Max passed peacefully away on December 16, 2022 at Long Term Care in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL surrounded by his family.

Max married the love of his life Gladys Tucker on March 10th, 1949. They had 10 children, 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  

Leaving to mourn his wife of 73 years, Gladys (Tucker) Anderson. Children; Mil, Charlie (Heather), Val, Edward, Dorman (Joan), Barry (Velma), Diane, Morris (Glowena), Morgan (Debbie), Lorne (Bonnie). Grandchildren; Greg, Jody, Robin, Rachel, Robert, Sean, Shawana, Stephen, Sheryl, Candace, Jeremy, Brad, Katrina, Brandon, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, Travis, Chad, Jeffery, Jonathan, Lindsey, Adam. Greatgrandchildren; Torsten, Sienna, Ava, Colin, Jacey, Austin, Brynlee, Hannah, Cameron, Kylee, Kaycie, Aurora, Jacob, Rylind, Kennadi, Kambree, Kiara, Logan, Jameson, Dakota, Emma, Arianna.  A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at LTC in Happy Valley Goose Bay for taking special care of him during his stay.  

Public visitation to take place from the Central United Church (Quirpon Branch) beginning Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral will take place on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment will follow the service at the L’Anse Aux Meadows Community Cemetery.

it is with great sadness that the family of the late Ivan Pilgrim announce his passing on September 8th, 2020, at the Carbonear General Hospital at the age of 65 years old with his family at his side. Ivan’s funeral will take place at the Salvation Army Church on July 20, 2021 at 2pm. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Bight Cemetery. Left to mourn his passing are his Beloved Wife Yvonne White, Children; Mike (Kendell) Pilgrim, Tammy Earle (Bryce Coombs) and Jamie Pilgrim, Grandchildren; Colby Coombs, Amber Dyson and Kaiden Czopko. his siblings; Eugene Pilgrim, Kye Pilgrim, Karen Pilgrim, Glenda Pilgrim, Wendy Pilgrim, June Pilgrim, Betty Pilgrim, Gladys Pilgrim and Tobias Pilgrim. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maxwell Williams announce his peaceful passing at his home in Pond Cove on September 8, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83 years. Maxwell was a loving husband, devoted father, proud pop and Cherished brother, who spent his life as a hard working inshore fisherman to provide the best life he could for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and in the woods. Left with fond and loving memories, is his wife of 61 years Marie Williams, “the Girls” Isabella, Nina and Maxine, son in laws Stephen, Martin and Floyd, Treasured Grandson Nash, special Niece Misty, Sisters Edna (Chesley), Hannah, Jane (Barry), Peggy (Rendell), sister in laws Celia Greenham (Ed) and Marjorie Gibbons and a large circle of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. He was predeceased by his first born daughter Sarah Jane, Parents George and Ida Williams, In laws Isaac and Sarah Jane Gibbons, Brother in laws Samuel Dredge, Nathaniel Gibbons and Roland Gibbons and Sister in law Sybil Gibbons. Passed away June 16th, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Maxwell William Humby (affectionately known as Max and/or Mackie) was born on May 22nd, 1934 to Edward (Sr.) and Jessie (Adams) Humby. Max was born in St. Lunaire-Griquet, NL and moved to Roddickton, NL in the early 1950’s. There Max met and married the love of his life, Margaret Marie Denney on the 24th day of November 1955 with the wedding being officiated by Pastor Samuel G. Newman. Together they were blessed with nine (9) children, six (6) girls and three (3) boys. They were also blessed with fifteen (15) grandchildren and fifteen (15) great-grandchildren. Max was well known and respected in his community and worked for a number of years in various occupations. He was employed with Bowater’s as a wood cutter, Eli Decker’s Garage as a mechanic, E.G. Humby and Sons Oil Company, and Roddickton Town Council as a heavy equipment operator/snow clearing/water and sewer maintenance. After his retirement Max continued to work as a “JACK OF ALL TRADES” paving driveways, potholes, parking lots, etc. Max had a very outgoing personality and enjoyed life to its fullest. He was the BEST Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather that a person could ever ask for. Makie will be sadly missed but those who mourn his passing are blessed with cherished memories of him that will last a lifetime. BILES, MAXWELL

Passed peacefully away after a short illness at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on September 11th, 2015, Maxwell Henry Biles of St. Anthony, NL in his 90th year. Max was a fisherman and carpenter before his retirement. He was a member of the choir at St. Anthony United Church for 50 years, a member of the church’s board of session and a long-time member of the Loyal Orange Lodge.
Max loved his family and his church, building model boats, hunting, salmon fishing, picking berries, playing cards, reading; watching boxing, hockey and wrestling.
Max leaves to mourn his four daughters; Joan Rumbolt, Eileen Reeves, Celeste Thompson-Vey (Bruce Vey) and Maxine Earle (Junior). Grandchildren; Curtis Rumbolt, Annette Rumbolt, Paulette (Allister) Russell, Jeanette Dwight) Russell, Paul (Brenda) Reeves, Terry (Sherry) Reeves, Rodney (Susan) Thompson, Colin (Melissa) Thompson, Denise (Robin) Collier, Jennifer Earle and Justin Earle. Visitation was held at the St. Anthony United Church from where the funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on September 15th, 2015 with Rev. Dinesh Gomes officiating.
