ANDERSON, HENRY MAXWELL

1927 - 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Henry Anderson announce his passing. Max passed peacefully away on December 16, 2022 at Long Term Care in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL surrounded by his family.

Max married the love of his life Gladys Tucker on March 10th, 1949. They had 10 children, 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  

Leaving to mourn his wife of 73 years, Gladys (Tucker) Anderson. Children; Mil, Charlie (Heather), Val, Edward, Dorman (Joan), Barry (Velma), Diane, Morris (Glowena), Morgan (Debbie), Lorne (Bonnie). Grandchildren; Greg, Jody, Robin, Rachel, Robert, Sean, Shawana, Stephen, Sheryl, Candace, Jeremy, Brad, Katrina, Brandon, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, Travis, Chad, Jeffery, Jonathan, Lindsey, Adam. Greatgrandchildren; Torsten, Sienna, Ava, Colin, Jacey, Austin, Brynlee, Hannah, Cameron, Kylee, Kaycie, Aurora, Jacob, Rylind, Kennadi, Kambree, Kiara, Logan, Jameson, Dakota, Emma, Arianna. Predeceased by his father, Charles Anderson and mother Delina (Bartlett).  

 A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at LTC in Happy Valley Goose Bay for taking special care of him during his stay.  

Public visitation to take place from the Central United Church (Quirpon Branch) beginning Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral will take place on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment will follow the service at the L’Anse Aux Meadows Community Cemetery.

BARTLETT, CHARLOTTE EFFIE (Nee Clark)

May 2, 1936 - May 26, 2019

Born May 2nd, 1936 to Douglas and Ester Ann Clark of Bolsters Rock, Labrador. At a very early age age was place in the orphanage in Cartwright where she went to work at the hospital at the age of 13 as a cook and cleaner. At the age of 19 she came to Newfoundland with Fannie and Annie Hedderson and this is where she met the love of her life, Douglass Bartlett. On May 17, 1956 they married and had 8 children. Her life was filled with loving and providing for her family. She was one of the best at fulfilling this job. She was the kind of woman that welcomes everyone and did what she could for them. You could never leave her home without a cup of tea. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, her Sons, Donald (Wavey), David (Kettie), Frank (Doris), Richard; Daughters, Barbara (Ross), Lilly (Dennis), Judy (Randolph), Wanda (Steve); Grandchildren, Damien, Jordan, Caitlin, Ladine (Corey), Andrew, Shannon (Michelle), Cheryl (Ryan), Jason (Shawna), Catrina (Sheldon), Stacey (Ian), Paul, Stephanie, Vanessa (Jonathan); Great-grandchildren, Kailey, Kera, Jayden, Jake, Amy, Grady, Leo, Luke, Sharaya, Lacey, Roman as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Charlotte was predeceased by her Husband, Douglas Bartlett and her sisters, Blanch Roberts and Phoebe Pardy. Visitation to be held from the All Saints Anglican Church in Dark Tickle beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28, 2019 and will continue until the funeral on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rec. Deacon Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow.

ANDERSON, DOROTHY EMMA

May 11, 1936 – November 30, 2018

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on November 30th at the age of 82. Dorothy Emma Anderson (nee Decker) was born in Lower Woods near Cook’s Harbour on May 11, 1936 to Garland and Dorcas Decker (nee Downer). She was one of nine children. On August 9, 1956 she married Gower Anderson of L’Anse Aux Meadows and together they raised six children and one grandchild. Dorothy opened the first grocery store in L’Anse Aux Meadows in 1956 which she operated for 30 years. Among her many accomplishments was her desire for education, so in 1992 she went back to school and completed her high school diploma. From Tupperware representative to volunteering with Parks Canada as a Viking, she showed her love for meeting new people. She spent countless hours berry picking and caring for her flower garden from which she lovingly shared her flowers with everyone. Her cabin, friends, and family were very dear to her heart. Her infectious smile was one of her greatest traits for which she will always be remembered. Dorothy leaves to mourn her daughters Bernice (George), Bonnie, Colleen (Eric); sons Gerald (Norma), Kevin (Donna), Kirby (Lisa); grandchildren Kristopher (Amanda), Tara, Kathryn (Eric), Elizabeth, Kyle and Meghan; sisters Myrtle, Bessie (Seymour); brothers-in-law Dorman (Rose), Maxwell (Gladys); sister-in-law Juanita Decker as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Garland and Dorcas; brothers Reginald, Maxwell, Harold, Douglas & Lloyd; sister Margaret; sisters-in-law Ivy, Deborah, Frances & Helen; brothers-in-law Wilfred, Ross, Alfred & Job. Thank you to all the staff at the John M Gray Center for the incredible care and support they provided during her time at the home. Visitation will be held at the Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 on Saturday, December 1st. Flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral service will take place 1:30 pm Sunday, December 2nd at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Katie Taylor-Flynn officiating. Interment to follow at the cemetery in L’Anse aux Meadows. DECKER, NEVA IVY

was born in Miles Cove, NL to Stephen and Rhoda (Short) Normore on September 28, 1941. She had one sister and four brothers. She met Samuel Decker while he was teaching in the area and they were married on September 29th, 1960. Neva was the proud mother of three sons: Moody, George, and Stephen. Neva and Samuel were also blessed with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; whom they loved dearly. Neva followed her husband, Samuel, to his hometown of L’Anse aux Meadows; but they spent many years living in Ontario and Corner Brook before returning to L’Anse aux Meadows. They later moved to St. Lunaire-Griquet where they lived out the remainder of their lives together. Neva was a homemaker at heart but spent most of her working life at the Fisheries Products Plant in St. Anthony. She had a love of quilting and gifted her family with her homemade expressions of love. Neve was predeceased by her husband, Samuel, on October 20, 2017. They were committed to the faith, loved God, and regularly attended the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet. She leaves to mourn her Sons, Moody (Sue-Ann), George (Yvonne), Stephen (Wanda); Grandchildren, Bobby, April, Stephanie, Vanessa; Great-grandchildren, Lucas, Leah, Skylar; Brothers, Cyril (Avis), Lloyd (Flora); Sister, Joy (Cecil), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends. Neva was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Wilfred Decker; Father, Stephen Normore; Mother, Rhoda (Short) Normore; Brothers, Eric, and Lesie. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Faith Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at 2:00 with Pastor Baker officiating. ANDERSON, HELEN

March 24, 1924 to March 18, 2016

Helen was born in Great Brehat on March 24, 1924 to Thomas and Emily Jane Cull. She lived her young life in Great Brehat, and then moved to L’Anse aux Meadows, where she married the love of her life, Job Anderson. They raised one child, Delena, whom they cherished more Than life itself. Helen peacefully passed away at the John M. Gray Centre at 4:45 AM Friday, March 18th, 2016. Left to Mourn: Her Daughter: Delena (Graydon) Grandson: Scott (Christine) Great-grandchildren: Emil and Grant Sisters: Olive Simms, and Florrie Keats, Brother: Walter (Helena) Cull Brothers-in-law: Max (Gladys) Anderson, Dorman (Rose) Anderson Sisters-in-law: Dot Anderson and Pearl Anderson and a large circle of Nieces and Nephews Predeceased by: Husband: Job Parents: Thomas and Jane Cull and many other family members. Visitation was held at the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch, form which the funeral service was held on Monday March 21st, 2016 at 2:00pm with Rev. Gus Pendleton Officiating. Burial followed in the L’Anse Aux Meadows Community Cemetery. Funeral Services Were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
