Samuel Steven Hurley March 14, 1926 - August 25,2020 Samuel Hurley passed away peacefully at Roddickton House in Roddickton on August 25,2020 at the age of 94. He was born on March 14th,1926 but due to error his birth was listed as 1927, He was the only son born to James and Rebecca Hurley of Westport,NL along with his sister Sarah. He moved to Ship Cove as a very young boy with his family and lost his father James shortly after. His mother remarried his step father Charles Decker and they both had 6 other children. Samuel met his first wife Bessie Andrews and were married Nov 10,1948 and together they raised 10 children, Bessie passed in 1987 and after several years met Louise Hammond and were married until her death in 2004. Samuel worked as a fisherman and in the lumber woods for most of his working life. He also worked in carpentry, he enjoyed working with his hands making figures and boats with wood and other materials which he sold or gave to family,friends and those who just stopped by, which admired them. He also enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, berry picking, and gardening. Samuel is survived by his children James Hurley, Catherine (Edward) Humby, Edna (Lloyd) Desmond, Wilson Hurley, Patricia Mercer, Guy (Joy)Hurley, Iona Taylor, Audrey Hurley(Sterling Dawe), Siblings Sarah Hedderson, Florence Hedderson and Jessie Tucker, along with 25 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James Hurley, Rebecca Decker and step father Charles Decker, wifes Bessie Hurley and Louise Hurley, daughter Audrey Hurley, son Edmund Hurley, daughter in law Lephna Hurley, son in law Keith Mercer, brothers Henry, Charles and Wilbur Decker and sister Bertha Hedderson. Funeral services will take place on Friday August 28, 2:00pm at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire- Griquet followed by burial at Pentecostal cemetery in Ship Cove. Funeral Services are entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

REARDON, AGNES MARY (NEÉ HURLEY)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Agnes Mary Reardon announce her passing on Thursday, December 21st, 2017 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 94 years. She leaves to mourn her sons: Herb (Mary), Ben (Imelda), Louis (Norma), Eric (Eileen); Daughters Mildred Sexton, Ida Sexton (John), Mae Jackson (Wayne); Grandchildren she raised, Connie Bromley (Jerome), Trent Reardon; as well as a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Sisters Marie H, Mary Hurley; Brother Fred Hurley and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Reardon, son Patrick Jr., parents Tom and Mary Hurley; brothers Richards and Louis Hurley; Sisters Frances Brothers, Alice Hurley, Evelyn Hurley, and Edna Wiseman. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony, after which, cremation followed. Funeral service and burial to be scheduled later this summer from the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove. Times and dates to be announced. HURLEY(NEE JOY), MARGARET CATHERINE

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 12th day of March 2015, Mrs. Margaret Hurley of Croque was in her 70th year. Leaving to mourn with fond loving memories her husband of 53 years Frederick Hurley, her 2 sons Gerard (Joan) Hurley, and Francis Hurley, her 2 daughters Madonna (Kevin Sr.) Reardon and Elizabeth (Gerry) Flynn., grandchildren Charlene (Dustin) Blake, Jonathan Flynn (Megan), Terri-Lynn Reardon (Justin), Kirk Whalen, Kevin Reardon (Monica), and Jamie Flynn., great grandchildren Keira and Frederick Blake, and Lily Flynn. Her brother Hubert (Fannie) Joy, as well as, a large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends.She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Mary Joy, Son Wilfred and Daughter Mary.  Visitation was held at the Sacred Heart Church in Conche from which the funeral mass was held at 11:00am on March 16th 2015 with Fr. Lourdhu Madanu officiating. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crouse. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
