ANDREWS, GORDON (GORDIE) SAMUEL

September 7, 1978 - January 30, 2024

Gordie was born in St. Anthony, NL to Garland & Elvida Andrews. He grew up in St. Anthony, Ship Cove, and Westport. In his later years, he settled in Carbonear and recently, to Victoria, Conception Bay North, NL. Gordie loved working on anything with a motor- especially his 4 wheeler, or bike as he used to call it.

He is survived by his Mother: Elvida; Brothers: Stephen (Kathy), Michael (Stephanie); Nephews: Jarod, Jayden; Nieces: Joehana, Samantha; Special Aunt: Sara Jacobs; Aunts: Loretta Osmond, Violet Andrews, Violet Humby, Eliza Pittman (Randolph); Uncle: Adolphus Andrews; Special Cousin and friend: Chris Andrews (Alice Ward), as well as many cousins, friends, and relatives.

He is predeceased by his father: Garland Andrews; Grandparents: Walter & Katherine, Gilbert & Jane Canning; Aunts: Juanita Andrews, Bessie Hurley (Samuel); Uncles: Arthur Jacobs, Alonzo Osmond, Ralph Humby, Stephen Andrews (Mary), Samuel Andrews, Gordon Canning, and Jobie Canning.

Cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be announced in Summer 2024.

TUCKER, GORDON "GORD"

July 18th, 1945- October 6th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon “Gord” Tucker: whom passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL; on October 6th, 2023.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his daughter Lisa (Norman) Applin, and his two grandsons: Griffin and Parker Applin; and his dear friend Emma Hopkins.

He is survived by his brothers; Chris (Sheila) Tucker, Douglas (Marlene) Tucker, Edward Tucker, Robert (Wanda) Tucker; his sisters; Berdina Gloster, Annie (Robert) Poirier, Joyce Davies, Donna (Harris) Tucker, Joan (Wallace) Hoard; his sister-in-laws; Hilda Hempshall, Minnie (Michael) Noseworthy, Sheila (Darrell) Randell, Sherry Brenton, and Eunice Tucker; his brother-in-laws; Melvin (Christine) Brenton, Willis (Brenda) Brenton, Alvin (Marlene) Brenton, Bruce (Jackie) Brenton, Larry (Rhonda) Brenton, and Douglas Brenton. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gord is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruth (nee Simms) Tucker; his wife Clara (nee Brenton) Tucker; his mother and father-in-law Eileen and Job Brenton; his siblings Joseph (Myrtle) Tucker, Charlotte (Frank) Lilly, Gladys (Edward) Patey, Gloria (Anthony) Notary, Pearl (Gabez) Howell, Effie (Charles) Hewlin, Herb Tucker, Francis, Verna, and Wilfred; his sister-in-law, Hildegard Tucker; his brother in-laws, Ralph Davies and Arthur Gloster; and his nephew, Tyson Brenton.

Visitation details to be announced. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Main Brook with Pastor Skinner officiating. Interment to follow in the Main Brook Salvation Army Cemetery.

SANSFORD, CHARLES GORDON

June 21, 1947 - February 19, 2023

Charles Gordon was born to Lilly and Henry Sansford on June 21, 1947; a brother to June and Triffie. In 1967 he met the love of his life, Eileen, and one year later they were married. They were blessed with two children; Gordon Jr. and Angela. He worked hard to give them a good life.

Gordon was a very patient man and it showed, as there was always a skidoo or bike in his work shed being repaired for some teenager. He was a great friend, counselor, and served his Lord and Savior.

On Sunday, February 19, 2023 Gordon passed at his home in Brig Bay surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75 years.

He leaves to mourn with many found memories, his Wife, Eileen; Children: Gordon (Joanne), Angela (Ramsey); Grandchildren: Amanda (Travis), Reiley, Adam, Jessica, Shavonne, Chad; Great-grandson: Avery as well as many relatives, friends, and our special girl- a daughter by choice- Rhoda.

Gordon is predeceased by his Parents: Lilly and Henry Sansford; Sister: June (Michael) Ianuzzi; Nephew: Mark Stratton; In-laws: Martha and Simeon Ford.

Visitation to take place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 and Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The funeral service will take place from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. Terry Coates officiating on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow.

ALYWARD, GORDON GERARD

April 22, 1962 - April 1, 2019

Gordon was born to Francis and Bernadette Alyward on April 22, 1962 in Main Brook. The family moved to Goose Cove from Fishot Island in 1970. Gordon was a very quiet man, who enjoyed the simple things in life, like having get-togethers with family and friends. He loved his family dearly. He was very proud of his daughter, Pamela and two grand kids, Matthew and Aiden and spoke of them so often. He would light up when talking about all his brothers and sisters and mom and dad. He faced many challenges but always had a smile. He will be forever loved and sadly missed by his Father Francis; Sisters, Eileen, Denise (Wes); Brothers, Fred (Maureen), Steven (Sharon), Leonard (Mary), Wayne (Dianne), Clem, Edward (Charmaine), as well as his extra-special Aunt Jose and Uncle Dorm who held a special place in his heart. Also left with fond and loving memories are a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. He will be missed as well by his special friend Gloria and the caring staff for the John M. Gray. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten. Gordon is predeceased by his loving Mother, Bernadette, and brother-in-law John McCarthy. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Friday, April 5, 2019 which took place from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Cove at 11:00 am with Fr. Jason officiating. PILGRIM, GORDON SAMUEL

Gordon Samuel Pilgrim was born February 17th, 1931 to Charles and Sarah Jane Pilgrim in St. Anthony Bight. He died in St. Anthony Bight early in the morning of May 26th, 2018, his sister Mabel present with him. Gordon was a fisherman and a bachelor. He lived all his life in St. Anthony Bight. Gordon was not a traveler, but enjoyed a trip to the United States in 2004 and a trip to Belle Island despite this. For a short time, he and a cousin ran a restaurant in the Night, the “Wagon Wheel”. Gord had the reputation of being “easy going”, until this winter he loved playing darts and of course there was moose hunting, which he particularly enjoyed. Gord loved life and lived it well. Gordon leaves to mourn his sister Mabel Strain; niece Sarah Strain (Wayne); nephews David and Leland Strain (Cindy); grand-nephew Noah Strain as well as a long list of extended family and friends. Gordon is predeceased by his parents Charles and Sarah Jane Pilgrim; Brother-in-law Roy Strain; as well as two small sisters who died as infant babies. Visitation was held from Kerry M. LODER, GORDON STERLING

Born June 14th, 1953 at Curtis Memorial Hospital to Arthur and Olive Loder. He married Dorcas Hedderson on June 8th, 1973 and had two children, Trina and Tanya- and later, two grandchildren, Meagan and Jenna. Gord’s career in health care started in St Anthony with Grenfell Regional Health Services. In the early eighties, Gordon and his family moved to Summerside P.E.I. where he worked as Purchasing Manager with Prince County Hospital. In 2012, Gordon and Dorcas decided to move to Edmonton, AB to be closer to their kids and grandkids; where he worked as a Purchasing Agent with Alberta Health Services. After being diagnosed with cancer he decided to retire. In 2016, after battling cancer for 5 years, Gordon and Dorcas moved back to St. Anthony and then to Hay Cove. Gordon succumbed to his disease on October 28th, 2017 at 2:20 am. He leaves to mourn his Wife Dorcas; Daughters Trina (Paul) Loder, Tanya (Shawn) Arsenault; Granddaughters Meagan and Jenna; Brothers Al (Colleen), Don (Linda), Bob (Eileen); Sisters Ruby McConnell, Mitzie (Carl) Wethrell, Shirley (Carroll) Harper, Yvonne (Troy) Henson, Delphanie (Tom) Cunningham, Myrtle Larkin, Winnie (Daniel) Ellsworth, Sandra (Paul) Fraser, Linda (Garfield) Fillier, Mary Loder as well as a large circle of family and friends. Gordon is predeceased by his Parents Arthur and Olive Loder; Brother Pearce (Bud) Loder; Brothers-in-law Jerry McConnell, Thomas Larkin, Cyril Bessey; Nephew Tommy Cunningha,; Nieces Theresa and Donna Harper; and Parents-in-law Dorman and Blanche Hedderson. Visitation was held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church from where the funeral was held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. Interment followed. DIAMOND, GORDON TRUMAN

Passed away on October 7th at the Charles S. Curtis memorial hospital in S. Anthony at the age of 90 years. Gordon Diamond was born in Flowers Cove on September 26, 1927. Although illness is never good news, Gordon was blessed to be hospitalized in the old hospital in St. Anthony where he met Josie Parrill. That chance encounter was the beginning of a relationship that changed both of their lives. Josie and Gordon were marries on June 13th, 1953. Gordon and Josie raised two children, Sharon and Don. He was a fisherman, and he loved the outdoors. Even after a stroke, over twenty years ago, he loved to get outdoors, go out to Fishing Point and watch all that was going on from boats to seals and other wildlife. He had a healthy sense of humour and he will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 64 years, Josie (nee Parrill) and Children Sharon and Donald. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Tuesday October 10th, 2017 from the St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Gordon Hedderson

Gordon Hedderson of St. Anthony, NL passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on January 6, 2016 at the age of 45 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his fiancée Catherine Baker; Children Savannah, Jefferey, and Joshua; Brothers Jeffrey (Marlene), Jim (Pauline), Johnathan (Jessica); Sister Dianne (Eric); Uncles Eli (Mary), Gord (Virginia), Bob (Eliza), David (Bertha), Caleb (Margaret), Phillip; Aunts Betty (Job), Louise (Jim), Rita (Roy), and Margaret. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Hector and Madeline Hedderson; and his brother Billy.
Visitation was held at K.M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral took place from St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 with Rev. Fr. ELLIOTT, ERNEST GORDON

Ernest Gordon Elliott was born in Raleigh on Nov.  21st 1940, he was the youngest of 7 children born to William and Maud Elliott. in 1966 he met and married Vida and During that time they raised 3 Children, family was the most important thing to Ern and he also got the pleasure of enjoying 3 wonderful grand children and  1 great grandchild. Ern worked very hard throughout his life at many jobs including fishing with his brother Chesley and Wilbert to driving his own dump truck and running the family general store. he was a very talented accordion player and had a passion for playing music with is brother Wilbert. Ern Passed away on the 10th of June, 2014, at the Health Science Center in St. Johns, He leaves to mourn his wife Vida, Daughter Paula (Jerome) Parrill, Sons Paul (Cindy) and Kerry (Marcie), Grand children Brandon (Marissa), Morrgan and Ryder. Great Grandson Abel, sister Hazel Butt and Brother Wilbert (Juanita), sister in law myrtle Elliott and Rita Elliott, his love and his music will be surely missed.  Ern lived to see the passing of his father William Elliott, mother Maud Elliott, brothers Chesley, Kenneth and Ross, Sister Phyllis Thistle, Sister in law Olive Elliott. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh, From which the Funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 15th of June with Rev.
