TUCKER, DELILAH

Passed peacefully away February, 17, 2024 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, Newfoundland.  Delilah Tucker in her 96th year. She leaves to mourn with fond memories her children: Eliza Colbourne, Louise (Lester) Bessey, Robert (Jean), Ricky (Rose), Leonard (Priscilla), Harvey (Dale), Sheila, and Patricia. Grandchildren, Great-Grand Children, and Great-Great-Grand Children.

Delilah was born 18 May 1928 in Ship Cove. At the age of three, in 1932, her mother died, and having been raised by her Grand Parents, she had been heard to say “she never knew a Mother’s Love”. But that in no way deterred her in the outpourings of Love that was bestowed upon the four generations that followed. On Dec 28, 1943 she married Silby Tucker, a union that was to endure for the next 75 plus years. After raising a family of nine children, and when most having left the nest, she worked for many years at the Fish Plant in St. Anthony. A woman of many talents, educated for none.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Silby of 75 years, parents Thomas and Eliza Tucker, siblings: Charles, Francis, Alvin, Alice, Ross, and Lester Guy.  Children: Gordon, Betty, a Baby Boy and Olive. Sons-in-Law Winston Colbourne, Roy Heath and Jack Pittman, and Daughter-in-Law Mary. Grandchildren: Whyman, Robert (Diane, Grand Daughter-in-law), and Jeremy. And Great Grand Child: Christopher Simms.
