STRYDE, ELIZABETH BERTHA

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on November 29, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Elizabeth Bertha Stryde (Nee Hill) was born in Cooks Harbour on March 15, 1946 to proud parents, Gertrude and Ernest Hill. On August 16, 1967 she married the love of her life, Alfred James Stryde. They were blessed with the birth of three sons, Gordon, Darren, and Shawn. Elizabeth was predeceased by Gordon in 1968. Elizabeth and Alf also raised Kathy Tucker for a number of years. It wasn’t money or the finer things in life that contributed to her happiness- it was her family and the large number of young people whose lives she touched while serving in different capacities at her Corps. Elizabeth served her church for many years as a Sunday School Teacher, Y.P.S.M., CCM, Home League Member and Thrift Store Volunteer. She will be missed and remembered by her husband Alfred, sons Darren (Patrina), Shawn (Carol), grandchildren Krista and Nathan, Sisters Mary Jane Rowbottom and Margaret Rose and a large circle of friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her Son Gordon, Parents Ernest and Gertrude, brothers Joe, Albert, Tom, and Harvey. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The Funeral took place from the Salvation Army Citadel in St. Anthony at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016 with Captain Brown officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
