BOYD, WILFRED CHARLES

With great sadness, the family of Wilfred Boyd announces his peaceful passing with his loving wife Elizabeth by side and surrounded by his family on March 14th, 2025 at the age of 93.

Wilfred was born on May 23, 1931 to Joseph Boyd and Elizabeth Boyd in St. Anthony. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Kean) Boyd on September 22nd,1954.

Together they raised three children, Kenneth, Larry and Lisa. Wilfred is predeceased by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Boyd, his sons Kenneth Boyd, Larry Boyd (Karen), and daughter Lisa Boyd (Al). Seven grandchildren Tanya (Jason), Terry (Candace), Ryan (Natasha), Tara, Krista (Dan), Daniel (Gaby) and Hilary (Tanner). Wilfred was also a proud great grand father of seven grandchildren Brandon (Jillian), Brittany (Luke), Sophia, Hannah (Konnor), Noah, Gabriel, and Leon. Wilfred also leaves to mourn his big sister Flo Dean. As well a large circle of extended family and friends.

Wilfred was a loving, kind and giving person. He was a friend to anyone he met. He would do anything for absolutely anyone. Wilfred and Elizabeth shared a wonderful life together full of love and happiness. Even after 70 years of marriage, Wilfred couldn't have been more in love with Elizabeth even if he tried. He was a very proud husband and father, and its greatest accomplishment was his family.

Wilfred was a proud and devoted member of Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #17, St. Anthony) where he spent countless hours volunteering. He took great pride in the Legion as his father was a WWI veteran. Wilfred also was a committed Canadian Ranger, he was very proud of his roots. He was a hard working man who worked the entirety of his career for FPI until his retirement. Wilfred was a very well-known and respected member of his community. He was a very easy-going man, who after retirement enjoyed spending time at his Cabin with his wife Lizzie in North West Arm. Wilfred was also very proud to own the second vehicle ever brought to St. Anthony.

Wilfred’s legacy will continue to live on within his family and community. He will never be forgotten.

There will be viewing at the Fillatres Funeral home in St. Anthony 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on March 17th and March 18th, 2025.

The funeral service will be held at the church beginning at 2pm on Wednesday March 19th at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Shirley’s Haven for their wonderful care of Wilfred over the last several years. The family would also like to thank the staff at CCMH in St. Anthony for the care and support of Wilfred and his family during his final days.

At Wilfred’s request in lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Royal Legion (Branch #17, St. Anthony) in his memory.

Funeral services are entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Reardon Funeral Director.
