August 17, 1966 - March 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doretta at the young age of 58, after a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, courage, and selflessness.
Born in Roddickton, NL to Maisie and Reuben Parsons, Doretta grew up with her 4 sisters and 4 brothers. She made St. Anthony her home, where she devotedly raised her 3 children. She will be forever remembered as an extraordinary Nana to her 7 grandchildren, whose lives she brightened immeasurably. Known for her lively spirit, silly nature, and delicious homemade soup, she made countless heartfelt connections with her family, friends, and co-workers. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Doretta lived to make memories with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, berry picking, travelling, and playing darts. She was always up for an adventure and did not let her sickness hold her back.
Doretta is predeceased by her father Reuben and sister Katie.
Leaving to mourn are her spouse, Nat (Patey), mother, Maisie, her three children Donovan (Victoria), Valerie, and Natalie, her seven precious grandchildren Ciaran, Lachlan, Mabel, Finley, Lincoln, Hayden and Holly, her sisters Pamela, Ruby, and Cavell, brothers, Perry, Gord, Frank and Darby, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 20, 2025 at K.M. Fillatres Funeral Home from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm on Friday March 21 at the St. Anthony United Church.
