Passed away peacefully Sept 29, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. Mrs. Olga Whalen of Flowers Cove was in her 64th year. She was a kind person with a big heart. Olga enjoyed to the fullest cooking for her family and spending time with her Grandchildren, she will be deeply missed by her Family and Friends . She leaves to mourn her husband Roland, children Roland Jr. and Brenda, Sister Rachel Applin, brother Stanley Coats, sisters-in-law Amy and Marina Coates, grandchildren Cameron, Colby, John Ryan, Jenna Rae, son-in-law Ward Genge, daughter-in-law Melanie Whalen, family friend Emily Whalen and a large circle of family and friends. Olga was predeceased by her mother Emily Coates, her father John Thomas Coates, and her brothers Stedman, John, and Curtis Coates. Visitation was held at the St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on October 2, 2015 with Father Omar Reeves officiating. Burial followed in the Flowers Cove Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
