PATEY, MURIEL ROSE

Muriel Rose Patey

May 31, 1932 – November 9, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother at John M Grey long-term facility, at the age of 90. Muriel Rose Patey nee cull was born in St. Anthony Bight on May 31, 1932, to Henry and Hurslett Cull. In the early 1950’s she met Joshua Patey from Burlington, they married on July 28, 1954, together they started a life in St. Anthony. They raised 5 wonderful children together. She has always been active in her community, she was involved in the UCW, church, hospital auxiliary and was heavily involved with the Kidney Foundation of Canada; she has always had a strong faith. Her true passion was being a homemaker and she loved preparing and sharing a meal with loved ones. Being a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend was of her greatest joys. Muriel loved life and her hometown, she was loved by many and will be truly missed. Left to mourn is her daughter Wavey (Wilf), sons Donald (Judy), David (Marjorie), siblings Boyce (Lorna), Carl (Margaret), Don (Sherry), Pansy (Brett), grandchildren Donnie (Kim), Michael, Ryan, Marilyn and her great grandchildren Aiden, Sebastian, Jasper and Anna. She is predeceased by husband Joshua, her sons Lorne and Joshua Jr, parents Henry and Hurslett Cull and sisters Hilda and Rosalind.

Our family would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for their calls, prayers, visits, and assistance during this difficult time. We would also like to thank everyone at John M Grey facility for their love and care provided during Mom’s time spent there. Mom felt at home and gained a second family, thank you.

Visitation is being held at the funeral home form 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Sunday, November 13th with a family service at 8:30pm, conducted by Rev. John Mcgonigle. The funeral service will be held form the St. Anthony United Church on the Monday, November 14th 2022 with Rev. Arthur Kinsella and Carol Roberts Officiating, burial to follow at the fishing point united cemetery.


PATEY, ALLAN

Allan Patey was born in St. Lunaire on July 17, 1936 to Samuel and Beulah Patey.  On Oct 19, 1960 he married the love of his life Florence (née Humby).  They had many years’ together and raised eight children who were the apple of his eye.  He was a dedicated and loving husband of 53 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He loved to attend church and prayer meetings until his health wouldn’t allow him anymore.  He was a hard worker and he never saw his family go without anything.  He was a fisherman until the moratorium and also a carpenter.  He helped to build churches in St. Lunaire-Griquet and Red Bay, Labrador, schools, wharfs, a bank and Norstead. He volunteered as head usher, a grave digger, a member of the fishermen’s committee and St. Lunaire Harbour Authority.  Allan enjoyed snowshoe making, going out for evening rides and he loved telling and playing jokes. He loved telling stories and cherished spending time with his family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Allan passed peacefully into the presence of his loving heavenly father on February 6th where he was reunited with his loving wife and loving parents and other family members.  

Left with many great and loving memories are his children Wanda (Jim) Eddison, Samuel (Audrey), William (Mary), Carol-Lynn (Tommy) Doran, Peggy-Ann (Morris) Curlew, Larraine (Teena), Valda (Glenn) Peddle, and Cory (Crystal).  Grandchildren Allan (Jocelyn), Evelyn (Brad), Shawn (Sara), Jeremy (Vanessa), Justin (Paislee), Jonathan (Vanessa), Brittany (Michael), Nicholas and Kian.  Great-Grandchildren Alexa, Braydon, Jaxon, Sasha, Griffin, Joey, Saskia, Landon, Alyssa, Jessa, Aleah, and Charlotte.  Sisters Beryl and Minnie, brother Noah, sister in law Joy, and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Florence, loving parents Samuel and Beulah, great Granddaughter Kayla, sisters Violet and Ivy, brother Leslie.  Father and mother in law Joseph and Jessie Humby and a number of in-laws.  Funeral service which was held at 2:00 pm on Friday February 11th, with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

PATEY, MABEL

Passed away into peace at her home in St. Lunaire-Griquet on the 18th of January 2016, Mrs. Mable Patey, in her 81st year. Left to mourn her loss are her son Mervin Chambers, Daughter Wavey Chambers, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brother and 3 sisters. in her life Mabel see the passing of her parents Ida and Lorenzo Patey her son Melvin Chambers, Sister Beatrice Pilgrim, and brothers Melvin and Lewis. visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunarie-Griquet, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 21st of January with Pastor Wayne Baker Officiating. burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director. 

PATEY, STEWART ALBERT

Passed away Peacefully at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony in his 87th year, Mr. Stewart Patey. Stewart was born to Meta and Noah Patey of St. Anthony. He was employed as a stationary engineer in St. Anthony and Labrador City, from where he retired in 1990 and moved back to St. Anthony. Stewart was predeceased by his parents, son Wilfred, brothers Charles, Wilfred, Lloyd & Norman and sister Jessie. Left with their memories are wife Ida, son Charles (Kitty), Daughter Eileen (Ralph); grandchildren David, Melissa & Jonathan; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Jack & Ella; brother Francis (Agnes), as well as other extended family. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, Followed By the Funeral Service at 2:00pm on Thursday May 1st, at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Major Baggs Officiating, Cremation followed the Service with Burial at a Later Date.  Funeral Arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

PATEY, CECIL LLOYD

Passed peacefully away on the 17th day of December 2013 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cecil Lloyd Patey of St. Anthony was in his 78th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Kirby(Priscilla), Leona(Gerald), Carolann(Robert), Betty(Overton), Sandra(Eric)Rhonda, Tommy and step- daughter Gail(Tom), ten grandchildren,  brothers Jacob and Archibald(Maisie) and Sister Blanche(Ron) as well as special friend Olive Saunders.  He was predeceased by his wife Sybil, parents Moses and Clara Patey, brothers Gideon and Clarence and Sisters Louise and Una. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony from which the funeral service was held on the 20th day of December 2013 at 2:00pm from the Salvation Army church in St. Anthony with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. Internment was held at the Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director

PATEY, DENNIS ROSS

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. L. A. Miller Center in St. John’s with his family by his side on the 29th of July, 2013, Mr. Dennis Ross Patey of St. Anthon, in his 61st year. Left to mourn his passing are his loving and faithful wife of 41 years Millicent, his son Jason (Kara), Daughter Delaura (Larry), Granddaughters’ Kieley and Mackenzie (they were his pride and joy). Though he himself has passed at a young age, Dennis lived to feel the loss of his father Arch, his brother Darren and daughter Trenna.  Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, Followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm on the 3rd of August, 2013 with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Burial followed the service at the united church fishing point cemetery, Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 1st day of July 2013. Mrs. Jessie Ethel Patey of St. Anthony was in her 87th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Piercey(Shirley); granddaughters Dale(Gary) & Cynthia(Dennis); great granddaughters Danielle & Melanie; great grandsons Gregory & Evan as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin; parents Joseph & Jane Burden, sister Aggie, brothers Thomas, Heman, Harrison, Gordon, Allen, and Frederick. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony followed by the funeral service on the 4th of July at 2:00pm at the Salvation Army Church with Majors Dinzel & Kathleen Baggs officiating. Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Center on the 1st of November 2012. Ms. Mary Belle Patey of St. Anthony was in her 95th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her brother and sisters  Rosalie Spurrell; Violet Decker; Edmund(Ted) and Dennis Patey(Dorothy.
