PYE, ROY MAXWELL

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Roy Maxwell Pye announce his passing on October 27th, 2024 at Curtis Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Roy was a very special devoted spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Roy is predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Pye, Son L.S. Travis Pye, brother Ward, and special friend William Strugnell.

Left to mourn with a broken heart is his loving partner of 25 years Nancy, Daughter Vanessa (Dennis), Son’s Matthew (Corinne), Marcus (Christina), Nancy’s children Cecil and Charmaine (Matt). Grandchildren Isiah, Emma, Maria, Connor, Dawson, Callie and Nancy’s Granddaughter Jillian.

Roy leaves to Mourn his siblings Clara Rumbolt (Raymond deceased) Stewart Pye (Laura), Guy Pye (Nora), Lloyd Pye (Ena), Alvin Pye, and Valerie Russell (Reginald deceased) and his sister in law Verna Pye. As well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Especially Nancy’s special sister Pansy and family.

Roy was a long time employee with the Canadian Coast Guard. He had a 37 year career starting from a Weather Observer to a Supervisor of the Loran C. Roy loved to watch a good game of curling and a good ol Toronto Maple Leaf payoff game. He loved to have a good game of cards with his family; a game of darts and a cold one with his friends. He was also very talented in playing the accordion and he loved spending time with his family every chance he got.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses in St. Lewis, Sherri-Lee and Cynthia who worked to get him out of St. Lewis. The fabulous team in Curtis Memorial Hospital ICU, who worked tirelessly to ensure he received the best possible care. All off the Doctors, ICU team and RT, Mike who made sure Roy was cared for right up to his last fighting breath. We would like to express special thanks to Rev. Vernon Short (Uncle) and his wife Aunt Maisie for travelling from Flowers Cove to pray with Roy and his family. We would like to thank the MHA, Minister of Health and MP who tried to facilitate the best possible care. We will be forever grateful for the support and love shown by our amazing family, and wonderful friends, caring for everything from our children and helping with the funeral service.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Fillatre Funeral Home, L’Anse-au-Loup.

Resting at St. John the Baptist Church in Lodge Bay, NL.

CURL, DAPHNE DARLENE

January 31, 1968 - December 12, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Daphne Darlene Curl, aged 54 years, shares news of her peaceful passing, after living with early dementia, on December 12, 2022. Originally from St. Lewis, Labrador, Daphne most recently resided in Roddickton, NL.

Predeceased by her beloved parents Thomas and Margaret Curl, brothers David & Garland (Jane) and sister Beatrice.

Left with fond and loving memories are her sister Verna Smith (Lawrence d.), brothers John (Phyllis), Guy (Ivy) and Denley (Donna) as well as a large circle of nephews and nieces, special friend Michael Hennessey and her treasured dogs Joey & Bailey.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the John M Grey Center in St. Anthony who cared for Daphne in the last few months.

Cremation will take place with a memorial service to follow at a later date in St. Lewis.

POOLE, TRUMAN

Truman was born in Murry’s Harbour to iris and Paul Poole. he went to school in Fox Harbour, no known as St. Lewis. he left school and went fishing with his father for a few years until he wen to work with Fishery Products Ltd. collecting cod and salmon in the surrounding outports. he spent 20 years with Loran C which was Stationed in St. Lewis. when this shut down Truman retired. in 2014 Truman began his battle with cancer, he always kept a positive attitude through it all. Truman passed away at the St. Anthony Hospital surround by the love of his Family. He will be missed beyond words by all who knew him well. rest in peace and may the angels guide you home.

Truman was predeceased by his parent iris and Paul Poole, his brother
Edgar, in-laws <Mildred and Clarence Curl Sr., aunts and uncles. he leaves to mourn his wife Shirley of 45 years, son Rene (Brenda), his pride and joy Grandsons Noah and Cody, Brothers Ron (Alma), Terry (Florence), Sister Joyce (Tom) and a large circle of family and friends.

the Poole family would like to take this opportunity to express their deep appreciation and gratitude of the love and support shown to them all during Truman’s illness. they wish to say thank you to all who brought food, donated and who dug the grave during this difficult time. each of you have helped ease our pain, your kindness and love will never be forgotten.

The funeral service took Place on Jan. 1st. 2:00pm at St. Marks Anglican Church in St. Lewis with Rev. Gail, Burial followed the service in the Anglican community Cemetery. HOLLEY, DALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dale Holley announce his sudden passing on Tuesday January 9th, 2018 after a short but harsh battle with cancer at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL at the age of 61 years old. He will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Linda of 39 years, Children; Cara (Neil), Jennifer (Andrew), and Hayward. Grandchildren: Jared, Madison, Marc, Meyah, and Liam. Brother Tom (Joyce), half siblings: Ruby (Melvin), Clarence (Loretta), Bart (Joyce), Bruce (Joan), Terry (Phyllis). As well as a large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends including his work family at Johnson's Construction Ltd. Predeceased by parents John & Lavinia; nephew Darry and half-brother Tom. Visitation was held from St. Mark's Anglican Church in St. Lewis, NL from where the funeral took place Sunday January 14th, 2018 at 2 pm. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. SMITH, FRANCIS

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on December 13th, 2017 at the age of 71 years. Visitation and Funeral Services were held from St. Mary the Virgin’s Anglican Church in Mary’s Harbour on the 16th of December, 2017 Rev. Peddle officiating. Interment followed in the St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Cemetery in Mary’s Harbour, NL. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. POOLE, LAWRENCE HUNTER

Passed away at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on July 13th, 2017 at the age of 53 years. Visitation was held at St. Marks Anglican Church in St. Lewis from where the funeral took place on July 17th, 2017 with interment following. POOLE, ELDRED

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on December 17, 2016 at the age of 71 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his Sister Provie; Sisters-in-law Doris, Muriel, and Doreen as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. Eldred was predeceased by his parents Mary and James Poole, Brothers George, Hubert, Leander, Albert, James; Sister Elizabeth; and sister-in-law Helen. Visitation was held from the Anglican Church in St. Lewis from where the funeral took place on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Pervez Baig officiating. Interment followed.
