WAY, SARAH (Nee White)

December 4th, 1935 - January 29th, 2022

It's with heavy hearts that the family of Sarah Way (White) announce her sudden passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL on the night of Jan. 29th, 2022. She leaves to remember her with loving memories, her children Judy, Joy (Wayne), and Darryl (Kim). Grandchildren Launa, Pelle (Holly), Mitch (Trisha), Paige (Eddie), Owen, and Chloe (Dylan). Great-grandchildren Lucas, Oakley, Ashton and Kaseon. Sister-in-laws Edna and Hazel, brother-in-law John as well as many special nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her loving husband George, parents Stephen and Clara, baby son Matthew, son-in-law Alonzo, and twelve siblings.

Sarah was the baby of her family, grew up in Sandy Cove and moved to Savage Cove like her sisters Louisa and Gladys where they raised their families. She lived a life of service, love and kindness to others. She was all about taking care of someone else.

She loved her family and friends, cooking, walks, playing cards, doing puzzles, her cell phone, the crust of bread for burnt toast, knitting, watching Team Gushue, hugs, chef salads, jackets, a good cup of tea and so much more.

Thank you to everyone who was good to her in her life. Special thanks to friends, residents and staff at Ivy Durley for making it feel like home. She certainly enjoyed all the opportunities for cards and walks. Sarah never wanted anyone fussing over her, soft spoken, strong, thankful and made the best dressing. So loved and will be missed by many. Her positivity, faith and resilience will forever be admired.

HEDDERSON, SARAH ELIZABETH

Sarah E. Hedderson, Born Feb. 22nd, 1925, passed into peace on the Dec. 26th of 2020 at her private residence in Straitsview NL. Sarah married Samuel Hedderson on April 5th, 1945. at Spillards Cove NL (Straitsview). Together they raised six children; Erdie, Bernard, Maysie, Carrie, Phillip, Shawn and Erdiel. Sarah worked as a house keeper in the early years and retired from fishing around age 61. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time in the woods, gardening and Berry Picking. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and mat hooking. Sarah was a loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren. She also had a large number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Sarah will be lovingly missed by her family and a large circle of friends and relatives. She leaves to mourn Erdie Stroud, Bernard Hedderson, Maysie (Alvohn) Pilgrim, Carrie Beaufield, Phillip (Linda) Hedderson, Shawn Hedderson, and Erdie (Edward) Hynes. Sarah is also survived by her two sisters Florence Hedderson and Jessie Tucker. Sarah was predeceased by her husband Samuel, her parents Charles and Rebecca Decker, her daughter Edna, Her brothers Samuel, Avalock, Henry, Charles and Wilbert, her sisters Beulah and Bertha. The visitation and memorial service for Sarah was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony at 10am on the 30th of December, 2020 with Rev. Deacon Arthur Kinsella officiating, Burial followed in the Community Cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral services entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey Funeral director.

KEATS, SARAH JANE (nee Mitchelmore)

April 27, 1929 – October 7, 2019

Passed away October 7, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Sarah Jane was born in Green Island Cove on April 27, 1929. She moved to St. Anthony when she was a little girl where she lived in the orphanage until she met the love of her life, Joseph Keats. They were married in St. Anthony on August 19, 1948 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Together they raised 7 children; 4 girls and 3 boys. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, her children; Lydia (David), Bonnie, Ellen (Calvin), Samuel (Barbara), Edna (John), Joseph (Nancy), and David (Karen); as well as 15 grandchildren (special granddaughter Deanne), 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Jane is predeceased by her husband, Joseph; Mother, Lydia; Father, Richard; Sister, Ellen; Brothers, Churchill, Malcolm, and Theophilius. Visitation to be held form Kerry M. FIllatre’s Funeral Home ion St. Anthony beginning Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 7-9 pm and will continue on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 2-4 pm with the family service taking place at 7:30 pm. The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Katie Taylor-Flynn officiating.


LAWRENCE, SARAH EVANGELINE (EVA)

Born in St. Anthony on the 20th of March 1923 to Ambrose and Gertrude Sulley (Pynn) of St. Anthony, NL.  Eva married Joseph Horatio Lawrence of Port-aux-Basque, NL. on April 19, 1949, and together they had two sons, Dennis and Orville. She lived a full life with many accomplishments and pastimes, including completing her Teaching Diploma at Memorial University in St. Johns, teaching in northern Newfoundland at Griquet, Quirpon, Main Brook, and the Grenfell School in St. Anthony. Eva was best known for her support of the Curtis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she actively participated in the gift shop, and continued knitting for the auxiliary up to the just a few days before her passing.  Eva was always an active woman, with interests in education and community service.  She was supportive in the Lions Club, Athletic Club and the Hospital auxiliary. Eva passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony with her family by her side, at the great age of 91.  Left to mourn are her sons Dennis and Orville, 5 Grandchildren, Matthew Joseph, Ryan Everett, Reginald Joseph, Olivia Marie, Julia Sarah Anne, Daughter-in-Law, Kelly Lawrence, Sister Gloria Marshall and Sister-in-Law Emily Sulley as well as close family, Don and Linda Loder, Karla Loder, Lee Hillier and Shirley Farrell, Brother-in-Law Fred Lawrence, Sisters-in-Laws Shirley Yard and Clarinda Lawrence. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband Joe, parents Ambrose and Gertrude Sulley, Brothers Robert (Bob), Russ Sulley, as well as her sister Zilda Hillier.  In the last year, Eva was blessed with wonderful care from the Hospital Staff (1st Floor), Home Care (all the personal touches) and her many friends and the Great Staff at Shirley’s Haven, she loved you all. Visitation is being held at The Funeral Home in St. Anthony, Followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00am on Tuesday February 10th, 2015  from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. Dinesh Gomes officiating. A private interment will follow on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 4:00pm at the Fishing Point Cemetery in St. Anthony.  Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Kerry M.
