MCLEAN, ROLAND

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Roland McLean announce his passing on November 7th, 2024 at the age of 71 years. Roland passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial Hospital with his spouse and a large circle of his family at his side.

Roland was born and raised in Green Island Cove, he was an active member of his community. He spent his life on the water as a fisherman, he enjoyed life to the fullest. In the last few years he battled ALS. He took the good days with the bad, with lot of support, he fought this battle to the end.

Roland leaves to mourn, with fond memories: His lifelong partner of 35 years Joyce Mitchelmore; 6 Sisters: Sybil, Hazareth (George), Louisa, Irene (Harold), Shirley (Dylan), Rosie (Colby); His 3 brothers: Leslie (Penny), Lambert (Helen), Primus (Pearl); Brothers-in-law: Michael Gibbons and John Macey; Nieces, Nephews and an Extended Circle of Family and Dear Friends.

Roland was Predeceased by: his parents Raymond and Aurelia McLean; 2 Sisters: Sarah Gibbons and Augustine Macey; Brothers-in-law: Desmond Macarthur and Pat Rumbolt.

We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral home, Rev. Canon Vernon Short, Loomis Way, as well as the staff at the Curtis Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during his hospital stay. We would also like to thank the Flower’s Cove Health Centre for their continuous care over the past few months. A special thank you goes out to Nurse Practitioner Madonna Coates and Home care nurse Benay Sinnicks, We are Forever Grateful.

Visitation is being held at St. Andrew’s Church in Lower Cove on Saturday and Sunday (Nov 9th and 10th). The family service will be held at 9pm on Sunday, followed by the funeral service on Monday Nov. 11th, 2024 at 11am. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date.

COLES, IVY

It is with great sadness the family of Ivy Coles announce her passing at Flowers Cove on March 17-2023.

Ivy has joined her loving husband, Roland at eternal peace.  They were loved and supported in life by their children Billy (Tama) and Bobby (Amy). Their pride and joy was their granddaughter, Liliana Barbara.

Ivy and Rol enjoyed life together cutting wood, ski-doo and ATV riding, spending time at their cabin at Green Island Lake, and visiting their children Billy in Ottawa and Bobby in Pittsburgh.  Their nightly routine included a Facetime chat with Lily to get a full account of her daily activities.

Ivy was a devoted member of the Sandy Cove Lions Club and spent many hours volunteering her time.  She enjoyed her time working with Canada Post, since she got to chat with the whole community.

Ivy will be remembered with fond memories by her sons Billy (Tama), Bobby (Amy), granddaughter Liliana, Mother Hazel Genge; special nieces Collette and Annette; exceptional care givers and sister-in-law Barbara Genge and Harris Genge; Sisters Patsy (Roland) Way; Elaine (John) Noseworthy; Marjorie (Wycliffe) Rose; Dorcas (Nelson) White; Pamela (Peter) Hrdlicka; Maxine (Cyril) Genge and one brother Harvey Genge.  In Laws Eva (Garfield)Way; Eliza (late Edmund); Sarah (late Kirby); Mona (Stanley) and special nephew Melvin (Sonya) Way.  Also, a large circle of nephew, nieces, and friends.

Ivy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Roland Coles on Feb 26-2023; her father William Genge; her father-in-law Roland Coles Sr; sisters in laws Dora; Margaret (Nelson) White; Alma (Gerald) Coles.

A public viewing will take place at St. Anthony at the Anglican Church from 10:00 – 12:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Everyone welcome. A funeral for both Ivy and Roland will take place on 29th July 2023 at the Sandy Cove Anglican Church.

COLES, ROLAND JR.

May 27, 1948 - February 26, 2023

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Roland “Rollie” Coles of Sandy Cove, Newfoundland at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on February 26, 2023 at the age of 74 years.

Roland is survived by his loving wife Ivy (Genge); his children, Billy (Tama), Bobby (Amy) and granddaughter Liliana, 5 sisters Eva (Garfield), Eliza, Sara, Barbara (Harris), Mona (Stanley), and special nephew Melvin (Sonya) as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Roland was predeceased by his father Roland Sr., his mother Miriam, his sisters Dora, Margaret, Alma and father in law William Genge.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to Roland’s nieces Annette & Colette. They were like daughters to him and they honoured their uncle by selflessly supporting him and our family in his greatest time of need.

Roland touched the lives of so many people with his generosity, kindness, and friendship. He will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

He enjoyed the cabin life, moose hunting trips, and also enjoyed coaching his boys playing hockey. He never went anywhere without Ivy by his side, and they cherish many memories that will last forever.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends to honour the beautiful life and soul of our Rollie Coles.

Visitation to take place from Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 2-5 pm. Cremation to follow with funeral service to take place at a later date.

September 23rd, 1933 - May 4th, 2022

Passed away May 4th, 2022 at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Center at the age of 88 years.
Roland is forever loved and remembered by his Loving Wife of 65 years, Jessie; Daughter, Wanda (Truman); Sons, Gary (Patsy), Roland (Edna), and Cyril (Maxine); Grandchildren, Mick (Nadia), Kaye (Jamie), Boyd (Nancy), Cagney (Mark), Trista (Late Wilfred Genge Jr), Jessica (Corey), Christopher (Glenda), and Travis (Stacie); Great-Grandchildren, Andrew, Ryder, Brooklyn, Landon, Adam, Averie, Cruz (Late Ryan Gary), Natalie, Rylan, Luke, Daniel, Caylee and Cole; Sister, Dulcie; Brother, Isaac; Special Niece, Pam, as well as large circle of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends.
He is predeceased by his Parents, Alice and Abraham, In-laws, Cyril and Joyce; Sister, Tena; Brothers, Noah, Kirby, and Stedman.
Visitation was held from St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral was held on Sunday May 8, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Short officiating. Interment followed. CASSELL, ROLAND GRAHAM

it is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Roland Cassell announce his passing on Friday, July 2nd 2021 at his residence in Englee at the age of 66 years. Roland was born to Flossie and Chesley Cassell at Roddickton on the 4th of November 1954. Roland spent most of his adult life working at the fish plant in Englee, then went on to fish with locals for a few years. Roland was a quick witted man who had something funny to say to anyone he met, but also a very caring and lovable person, especially with his animals. Left to mourn his passing are his two sister Melita Fillier of Englee and Rose (Daryl) Maloney of Corner Brook, one brother Morgan Cassell of Medicine Hat Alberta, 9 Nieces, 6 Nephews and a large circle of Relatives and friends. Roland lived to see the passing of his parents Chesley and Flossie, his sister Melvina Fillier Hopkins and brothers David and Harrison Cassell, one sister in law Darlene Cassell and 2 brothers in law Stanley Fillier and Roy Hopkins. The Memorial service was held at 2:00pm on the 8th of July, 2021 at the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee with Pastor Michael Ivany officiating, Burial will follow the service at the Englee Apostolic Faith Cemetery. BESSEY, ROLAND HARVEY

August 4, 1944 - January 23, 2020

Roland passed away January 23, 2020 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 75 years. Roland Leaves to mourn his Brother, Ernest Bessey; Sisters, Joyce Smith, Hazel (Garland) Andrews, Elaine (Gary) Hollohan, as well, he will be missed greatly by other relatives and friends. Roland was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Greta Bessey. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Church in Ship Cove from where the funeral was held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Interment followed. ELLSWORTH, ROLAND

Roland was born to Thomas and Jessie Ellsworth on April 21st, 1935 in Englee, NL. He married Stella Loder of Harbour Deep on July 5th, 1956. Roland made his living by working in the woods, fishing, and working in the fish plant as a cutter. He also spent time working in construction work. Roland gave his heart to the Lord under the ministry of Pastor Peckford. Roland slipped away into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He leaves to cherish memories his Brothers Ralph (Shirley), Ron (Wavey); Sisters Lily, and Drucilla as well as his nephews, nieces, and many other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Stella; His parents Thomas and Jessie, and by his sister Audrey. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral was held on July 7th, 2017 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed in the new Pentecostal Cemetery in Englee. HUGHES, ROLAND

Passed away on July 20, 2016 at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his Son Roderick Noseworthy (Kaye); Grandchildren Tyler and Sabrina Noseworthy; Great-Granddaughter Jayme Noseworthy; Siblings Amy (Stanley) Coates, William Hughes, Israel (Frances) Hughes, Nathanial (Patsy) Hughes, Elva Caddy, Beulah (David) Wells, Sheila (Frank) Whalen, Winston (Mona) Hughes; Sister-in-laws Vera and Phoebe Hughes as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Bridget Hughes; Siblings Stella, Mariah, Baxter, Claude and Whyman; sister-in-law’s Rosie and Margaret Hughes; and brother-in-law Orval Neil Caddy. Visitation took place from St. Andrew’s Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on July 23, 2016 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. MOORES, CLIFTON ROLAND

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clifton Roland Moores announce his sudden passing at his home in anchor point on December 1st, 2014 at the age of 63 years, left to mourn are his wife Millicent of 42 years, children Trixie (Leroy), Trina(Dave), Tyson (Sabrina), Grandchildren Nakita, Megan, Keegan, Kaylan, Aleisha and Ava, Great grandchild Jaxson, Step mom Margaret Moores, his siblings Abe (Vert), Hiram (Helena), Edmund (Doreen), David (Amanda), Marlese, in laws Abe(Jane), Steward(Dorcas), Doug(Bertha), Beulah (Jake), Brone (Bill), Marvin (Louise), Troy (Connie), Una, Fiona, a large Circle of Neices and nephews, aunts and uncles, family and friends. Clifton was predeceased by his parents Eli and Larola Moores, his in laws Emanuel Sr. and Dora Genge, brother Leonard, Brothers in laws Montrose and Emanuel Genge JR. nephews EJ Moores and Leonard Jr.   The Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Anchor Point, From which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 5th of December with Rev. Passed away at The Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony NL, Mr. Roland Hillier of St. Anthony in his 76th year. Roland leaves to mourn; his wife Annie, Children Morey, Gloria (Clement), Winnie, Vivian (Victor), Fred (Reeta), Tony (Margaret), and Robbie (Karen), 9 Brothers and Sisters and a large circle of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his special Furry friend Cheeko. Roland was predeceased by his father Hedley Hillier, Mother Pearl Hillier and Brother Kaye Hillier. Visitation was held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony beginning Monday November 3rd and continuing through to the funeral service, which took place at 2:00pm on Thursday November 6th 2014 with Pastor Jeff Bessey Officiating. Burial Followed the Service at the Pentecostal Cemetery in St. Lunaire-Griquet. Funeral arrangement where entrusted to Kerry M.
