It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of out loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Thelma Coates, at St. Anthony Hospital on September 9, 2021 at the age of 94 years. She was the last child born to Abraham, and Elizabeth Dredge of Black Duck Cove.
She leaves to mourn with loving and lasting memories her Children, Gerald (Ruby), Betty (Bob), Marilyn (Whyman); Daughters-in-law, Ivy and Hazel; Grandchildren, Gerald (Lorraine), Dean (Madonna), Jennifer (John), Carlyann, Quenten (Sherri), Ricky, Miranda (Sebastien), Robbie (Deanna), Gregory, Scott (Kaitlin); Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Renee, Connor, Skylar, Sharla, Laura, Willie, Laci, Lucien, Ariane, Bobby, Blake, Jada, Gemma and Carly. She will also be remembered by, Sister-in-law, Gladys Dredge and Special Friend, Rosie Mclean.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Willie and Sons, Harrison and Melvin; Brothers, William, Walter, John, Roland, Abraham; Sisters, Blanche, Cinderella, and Kittie.
She loved her family very much. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always overjoyed whenever they came to visit her, always making sure she had pies and other treats to give them. She lived a simple life, she never travelled far from her home in Eddies Cove. She was a stay at home mom who worked hard to earn and provide for her family, making sure she did the best she could for them. After her husbands passing she moved to the Ivy Durley Place in Flowers Cove. She liked living at the home and we would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of her and making her feel so comfortable. Her last few months were spent at the hospital in St. Anthony, we would like tot hank the health care workers for attending to her every need and all the kindness they had shown her while she was there- thanks everyone.
Visitation to take place from St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove on Sunday, September 12, 2021. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Deacon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Virginia Toope of Pond Cove announce her passing on July 15th, 2021 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, NL at the age of 89 years. She will be sadly missed by her children: Kitty Allingham (Terry), Sheila Waddleton (Ken), Daulton Toope (Bonita), and Marie Kennedy (Lyman); her grandchildren: Michelle Allingham (Maxwell), Sonya Payne (Lenny), Sheila Gould (Donnie), Melissa Chambers (Maurice), Paul Kennedy (Brianna), Bianca Gould (Mike), Ryan Waddleton (Emilie), and Kendra Waddleton (Jonathan); her great-grandchildren: Tyra Payne, Jaron Lavers, Ethan Gould, Brett Payne, Blair Kennedy, Evan Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, and Capri Gould, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband Leonard Toope Sr., parents James and Christinia Chambers, sisters Evelyn Toope, Una Way, and brothers Clyde, Garfield, and Stanley Chambers. The family would like to thank the staff at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre for all of their tremendous kindness and care during the last 10 months of Virginia’s life. Visitation will be held at the Anglican Parish of Plum Point on Sunday, July 18th between 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with her celebration of life to follow on Monday, July 19th at 2 PM with Reverend Deacon Vernon Short officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of Annie Marie Bushey of Green Island Cove, NL passed away at the John M Gray Center on the May 1st , 2021, at the age of 68 years. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Raymond (Cicely) and, Garry (Joanne) Mitchelmore and sister Edna Parrill , her sister in laws Judy, Dorcas and Anne Mitchelmore and brother in laws Larry (Melinda), Glenn (Mary), Rodney (Tina) Bushey and fondly remembered by a large circle of nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. Annie “Aunt Annie” was born in Green Island Cove on Jan 19th 1953, the second youngest of 9 children of Theophilus and Augustina Mitchelmore, She became a friend to all of the teenagers in the community as she ran the family Snack Bar for many years. In the early 80’s while on a regular visit to the “Eagle Lounge ”after the snack bar was closed for the night, she met her future husband (Terry Bushey ) whom she was married for 33 years. Although she had no children, she had many nieces and nephews whom she spoiled rotten. She didn’t mind expressing her thoughts but always with a smile. As a mainstay of the family who rarely left home, her and Terry would look after taking care of all the family’s requests such as Family Tree (Christmas), donations to friends and family funerals and other things on behalf of the family. Annie and Terry lived in the family home to help look after “Maw” after “Pap” passed away, either spending time in the cabin or regular trips to St. Anthony to pick up the Grenfell mats. She always loved to have someone in and have a good game of cards and maybe cheat a little bit to have a good laugh. During the last 15 years she has had various sickness but she always kept a positive attitude and was a happy person. She was pre-deceased by husband of 33 years (Terry Bushey), Parents Theophilus and Augustina Mitchelmore and Parents in Law James and Ima Bushey, Sisters Effie Blanche, Lydia Chambers; Brothers Stanley ,Churchill and Willis Mitchelmore; Brother in Laws, Aaron Chambers, Ralph Parrill and Sister in law Margaret Mitchelmore. The funeral will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 15th,2021 at Kerry M Fillatre’s funeral home with Rev. Short officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. Passed away into peace at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 22nd of February 2021, Evelyn Genge of Anchor point at the age of 92. Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Edward , Beloved Grandson Rocky, Children Beatrice, Yvonne, Wilson and Ethel, as well as her parents Thomas and Beatrice and sister Eliza. Left to mourn with loving and wonderful memories are her son Melvin, Daughter in law Helena, Precious granddaughter Shelley, Grandson in law Jamie and her precious great granddaughters Alexis and Anna, her sister Ethel and Brother in law Clyde and family, Special Nieces Beatrice and Palma and their families, her special granddaughter Jennifer White and her very special friend Rosie as well as a large circle of other family and friends. burial service was held at the old

Passed away into peace on the 19th day of January, 2021 Mrs. Marjorie Hughes of Green Island Brook, in her 81st year. by her side as she passed was her loving husband of 52 years Nicholas Hughes, also left to mourn her passing are Daughter/Niece Nancy (Hank), granddaughters Chloe and Sara, Sister Hazel (Late Walter Williams), Dulcie (Late William Applin), Beulah (Bruce Coates), Her Brothers Stewart (Juanita), Wallace (Thamsie), Wilson (Violet). Brother in laws Christopher (Shirley), Hughie (Marie), Fred (Melvina), Barry (Ruby), Sisters in Law Virtue (Late George Parrill), Olive (The late David Noseworthy), Thamsie (Wallace Parrill), Maggie (Edmund Hughes), Patsy (Winsor Hughes), and Susie (Scott Macey). Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Albert and Laura Parrill, mother and father in law Uriah and Mary Elizabeth Hughes, brothers Gordon , Cecil and John and sisters Evelyn and Olga. The Memorial Service and visitation took place at the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove on Friday January 22, 2021 With Rev. Deacon Vernon Short Officiating. Burial followed the service in the Green Island Brook Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were provided by Kerry M. Is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Rhoda Susan Mitchelmore on December 28th, 2020.  She passes at home with her husband by her side. . Born July 23rd 1936 to Amy and Jim McLean. She was the eldest of 7 kids. She is predeceased by her son Dean and mom and Dad Amy and Jim, sisters Millicent and Maisie. Mother and father in law Tom and Mamie Ellen.  Brother in laws. Mainland and Harvey. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Graydon Mitchelmore. Son Jasper, daughters Jill and May.  Grandchildren Graydon (Tammy),  Deanie, Michael, Tammy. Great grandchildren Darrius and Marcus.  Sister. Mamie Ellen, brothers John Thomas (Winnie), Vincent (Jessie) and Marcel (Eura). Sister in laws Bertha, Velma (Wally), Myrtle (Ren). She will be missed by many of her furry grandkids, Posie will especially miss his Nans’s cuddles. Rhoda Susan was devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a kind hearted person who had many friends and loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and baker. She loved sharing what she made with family and friends or just people she met.  You would never go to her home and leave hungry.  She enjoyed a good game of cards and knitting, she knit socks for many family and friends as well as the homeless and kids at Janeway.   If there was anyone in need she was there to help.
