REID, ELAMORE FRANCIS

May 13, 1949 - August 25, 2023

Elamore Francis Reid passed on August 25, 2023 at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, at the age of 74 years.

Elamore is the son of the late Esther (Reid) Compton, and step father Noah Compton. He leaves to mourn his stepfather, Noah; two siblings: Kevin Welcher and Vivian Compton as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

There will be a memorial service held at the Apostolic church in Roddickton to be announced at a later date.

REID, MIRIAM (Nee Canning)

September 16. 1926 - January 4, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt - Miriam Reid (nee: Canning) at the John M Gray in St. Anthony NL at the age of 95 years. She leaves to mourn, her Daughters, Marilyn (Late Wesley Keefe), Margaret (Late Harvey Randell), Priscilla (Naaman), Jane, (Woodly), Joan (Winston) and special Sons; Wade (Maisie), Graham (Ruby), Booth (Olive), Sherlock (Nina), Morris (Carmel) and David (Gladys); Brothers, Eric (Gladys), Obediah (Hilda); Sisters, Emma, Fern (David) Joan (Hayward) and Sister In Law Nina as well as friends and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents (Obediah and Leah), Husband (Booth), Son (Raymond), Brother (Hayward), Sister (Isabelle), Son-In-Laws (Rifford Cassell, Harvey Randell and Wesley Keefe)

The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. REID, LUDWICK DALTON

April 30, 1928 – June 8, 2019

born April 30, 1928 took his Heavenly flight on June 8, 2019. He was the 4th of 9 children born to William and Harriet Reid of Englee. On June 25, 1949 he married the love of his life Ethel Edna Randell of Hooping Hr. [Deceased] Together they built a home and raised 6 children; Doris, June, Edwin, Patsy, Marilyn and Sybil. He is survived by children, Doris [Clement], June, Edwin [Marjorie], Patsy [Raymond], Marilyn [Darrell], Sybil [Gary] as well as 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, brother Osborne [Bessie] Reid, 2 sisters Diana [Randolph] Lane, Shirley Simmons, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the following for the excellent care their father received; Deer Lake Manor, Western Memorial Hospital Corner Brook [dialysis unit], Golden Years Estates Grand Falls/Windsor. REID, ERIC JAMES

Passed away on January 2nd, 2017 at the John M. Gray Centre at the age of 56 years. Eric was born to Bartholomew and Velma Reid on October 14, 1960 in Englee, NL. He married Sharon Pittman on Sept 26, 1992 and they had three daughters; Lorna, Sandi, and Sarah. Eric started finishing with his father at the age of 16 and continued to do so until his surgery in September 2013. He also had a great passion for woodcutting and hunting. Many of his friends could tell endless stories of their adventures together with him. Eric had many friends and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He leaves to mourn his wife Sharon; Mother Velma; Daughters Lorna (Dion) Sexton, Sandi (Pete) Budgell, Sarah (Robert) Chaisson; Granddaughters Kylee and Koriana; Sisters Patricia (Dorman), Rowena (Nigel), Dora; Brothers Guy (Rowena), Raymond (Loretta), Alyvone (Mary), Willis, Don (Wanda) as well as a large circle of Family and Friends. He was predeceased by his father Bartholomew on November 5th, 2014. Eric slipped peacefully away into the presence of the Lord on January 2, 2017 at the John M. Grey Centre. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held on January 6, 2017 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed. Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial n the 20th day of March 2015, Mrs. Ethel Rerid of Englee was in her 84th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Ludwick Reid, Englee, NL;  Daughters Doris(Clement) Randell, Englee, NL; June Newhook, Labrador City, NL; Patsy (Raymond) Cassell, Roddickton, NL; Marilyn (Darrell) King, Labrador City, NL; Sybil Reid, Barrie, ON; Son Edwin(Pastor Marjorie) Reid, Fort McMurray, AB; Sister Ruby Randell, Englee, NL; Brothers Spurgeon(Marie) Randell, Englee, NL; Claude(Jean) Randell, Englee, NL; Beaton(Shirley) Randell, Corner Brook, NL; Boyce(Alma)Randell, Englee, NL; Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty- Four Great Grandchildren, Three Great-Great- Grandchildren, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Albert Thomas Randell and Florence Cassell. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church In Englee from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 24th day of March 2015 with Pastor George Burton officiating. REID, MATTHEW LEVI

Matthew was born in St. Anthony on Jan. 15, 1987. He moved away with his mom to Gander at the age of two years. He made many moves with his military family throughout his childhood years. In December, 2010, Matthew decided to move back home to St. Anthony. In 2011, Matthew met his wife Penney and his stepson Reid Taylor. They began their lives together and were happily married on Nov. 9, 2013. Matthew dearly loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. Despite a very difficult year, Matthew and Penney shared a miracle when their beautiful daughter, Isabella, was born. Anyone who knew Matthew knew that he was so proud to be a father. He loved his children, wife and family and his extra special friends unconditionally without question. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Penney; son Reid, daughter Isabella; son Emmanuel (adopted); parents Dawn and Mike Walsh; brother Leo; grandparents Jean and Levi Reid; grandmother Isabella Walsh; grandfather Mike Walsh (Barb), numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, extra special friends Brenda Best and Brad Shattler, the Nicholas family, and a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by a number of grandparents and aunts and uncles on both sides of the family, and especially his great uncle Levi Reid, who Matthew held very dear to his heart. Visitation took place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service was held At 2:00pm on Saturday, Jan. 3 with Rev. Paul Findlay officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Trust Fund (see Below). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. One of Matt’s greatest concerns was that his children’s future and education would be taken care of.

Passed peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 5th day of November 2014. Mr. Bartholomew Reid of Englee was in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of Fifty-nine years Velma, Daughters Patricia Reid(Dorman), Rowena Reid(Nigel), and Dora Reid, Sons Guy9Rowena), Eric(Sharron), Raymond (Loretta), Alyvone(Mary), Willis, and Don(Wanda),  Grandchildren Fabian, Kyle, Janeen, Lorna, Sandi, Sarah, RaymondJr., Kayla(deceased), Brendon, Wallace, Jonathan, Travis, and Samantha, Great grandchildren Gracie, Gage, Kynlee, Jada, Kylee, Alexis, Special Niece Peggy Fillier, Sisters Irene Canning, Annie Fillier, and Rosie Fillier, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal church in Englee from which the funeral service was held on November 9th, 2014 at 2:00pm with Pastor Sansome officiating.
