LODER, RALPH WILBURN

June 25, 1948 - November 26, 2021

Ralph Wilburn Loder was born June 25, 1948 in Griquet to Selby & Blanche Loder. On May 30, 1969 he married the love of his life Marie (Roberts) of Quirpon. They made their home in Griquet where they raised their five daughters. Ralph spent most of his life as a fisherman in the summer and spent time with his father in the lumber woods in the winter. Ralph was a great husband and a wonderful father. His children were his pride and joy. He gave them unconditional love. In December 2000, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. In April of 2001 he started his 20 ½ years of kidney dialysis. He was in illness as he was in health, positive, caring, a lover of life & fun who took great delight in humour. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to mourn is his wife Marie, five daughters Sandra (Todd) Earle, Penny (Jason) Norman, Nancy (Jason) Pilgrim, Karen (Jammie) Bussey and Cathy (Allan) Jones. Nine grandchildren. Dana (Donald) Munro, Erin, Jesse, Bailey, Tracy, Lucas, Emily, Allison and Kayla. Two great grandchildren Brody and Tobey. Two brothers Albert (Gloria) Loder and Ross Loder. Six sisters Mary Loder, Ivy (Arthur) Bath, Selma Hill, Sadie (Nelson) Taylor, Alice (Kevin) Compton and Donna (Kenneth) Gray. An abundance of nieces and nephews, who he loved as his own. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. And the many friends, especially his card playing buddies Martin and Betty Snow.

Ralph also had another family who he adored, his dialysis family. The nurses and patients in the dialysis unit at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital always held a special place in his heart and he was very thankful for all the kindness that they showed him.

Ralph was pre deceased by his parents Selby and Blanche, his mother and father in-law Wilfred and Evelyn Roberts, brother in Law Abraham Hill. As well as his special uncle, friend and fishing partner Arthur Loder.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm from the Pentecostal church in Griquet on the 2nd of December 2021 with Pastor Bill Harnum Officiating. Burial to follow in the Church cemetery. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey Funeral director.

February 19, 1941 – May 27, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving Father and Husband, Ralph, At Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife, Phoebe; Children, Dione (Michelle), Sharon (Darius), Darlene (Gale) and Denise (Bob); Grandchildren, Crystal (Andy), Roman (Lisa), Drew (Kyla), Tapanga, Matthew, D.J., Kayla (John), Kierra and Kolbi, Shenay (Kade) and Garfie; Greatgrandchildren, Tristan, Owen, Sophia, Jaden, and Brookelyn; Brothers, Alfred (Selma), Gilbert (Trudy), Richard; Sisters, Kay, Helen, Eliza (Wallace) and Jean (Stan). He was predeceased by his parents Edward, Julia Matchim, his brother David and his sister Dora. He will be sadly missed by all his nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He was a man who had a smile for everyone he met whether they were friends or strangers. Until we meet again, he will be forever in our hearts.

HILLIER, SYDNEY RALPH “Pap”

April 16, 1934 – March 1, 2020

Passed away March 1, 2020 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 85 years. Ralph, better known as ‘Pap’ was born and raised in Griquet to Stanley & Laura Hillier. On December 30, 1954 he married Nellie Adams and together they raised seven children. Pap was a fisherman, blaster – a jack of all trades but will be fondly remembered for his love of darts and storytelling. Pap was also known for his love of children. Each child was made to feel special in their time spent with him and returned their love for him. He will always be remembered and live in our hearts forever. Ralph Leaves to Mourn with a lifetime of memories, his Sons, Charles (Carol Anne), Carl (Shirley); Daughters, Ina (Wilbourne), Eileen (Eric), Glowena (Morris), Gaye (Harold), Teena (Morgan); Brothers, Gerald (Linda), Lewis (Joyce), Wilfred (Marilyn), Clayton (Susan), Garland (Joan); Sisters, Minnie (Roland) Tucker, Elizabeth (Hedley) Pilgrim. Ralph will also be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Ralph was Pre-deceased by his Wife, Nellie; Parents, Stanley & Laura; Brothers, Hayward, Thomas, David; Sisters, Mable Humby & Miriam Hillier. Visitation was held from the St. Lunaire-Griquet Pentecostal Tabernacle from where the funeral service was held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Harnum officiating. Interment followed.
