It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our Mom/Nan at the Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, on Sunday October 20th at the age of 82.

She will be missed by her Children: Shirley (Barry), Ward (Celia), Ruby (Ed), Jarvis; Grandchildren: Sabrina, Pamela (Cory), Pierrette (Murray), Tamara (Steve), Nathan (Penney), Kendra (Greg), Belle (Nathan); Great grandchildren: Keegan (Theresa), Kylan (Kanisha), Kaine, Kaci Rae, Kai, Reid, Bella and Orion.

She is also survived by her 2 sisters: Nellie Parrill and Emily Patey; Sisters-in-law: Esther Elliott and Naomi Mitchelmore.

Eliza is predeceased by her husband: John; Daughter: Rhonda; Son: Elvis; Her parents: Austin and Evangeline Mitchelmore; Sister: Cora; Brothers: Reginald (Mary), Curtis Mitchelmore; Brother-in-laws: Ethelbert (Kitty), Ivany (Rita), Doug (Virtue), Norman Parrill and Herb Patey; and Sister in law: Frances (John).

The family would like to thank the staff at Ivy Durley Place, Flowers Cove Health Center and Curtis Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our Mom/Nan over the past few months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will take place at St. Andrew's Church, Lower Cove beginning the evening of Tuesday October 22, 2024. The family service will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow.

PARRILL, JOHN THOMAS

September 17th, 1928 - August 2nd, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Parrill announce his passing at the Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on August 2nd, 2023 at the age of 94 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to John and Elizabeth Parrill on September 17th, 1928 in Eddies Cove East and was the youngest of eight siblings. He married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Applin on April 9th, 1953 and together they raised four daughters.

He leaves to mourn daughters Judy (Kevin), Virginia (Gordon), Joy (Guy), and Ellen (David); grandchildren Rochelle (Morley), Melissa (Chad), Gregory (Tiffany), Tanya (George), Danica (Ashley), and Dominique (Wilga); great grandchildren Jessica, Madison, Nathan, Emma, Akira, Emily, Brooklyn, Harlow, Grace, Sky, Averee, and Larissa. In laws Irene, Sybil, Naomi, Donna, Edna, Rachel and Dulcie, along with several nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary Elizabeth, parents, John and Elizabeth, in laws Ellen Applin, and William and Eliza Applin: brothers Albert (Laura), Roy (Hazel); sisters Virginia (Jim), Bessie (Jim), Eliza (George Henry), Margaret (Ross), and Goldie (Levi).

Visitation to take place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony beginning the evening of Thursday, August 3, 2023 open daily with the exception of the Sunday Morning Church Service at 11 AM on August 6, 2023. the family service will be held at 7pm august 6 Followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2023 with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow in the Pines Cove Community Cemetery.

April 10, 1925- February 20, 2023

97 years

It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Parrill announce her peaceful passing on February 20th , 2023 at the age of 97, at Curtis Memorial Hospital.

Rita was born April 10th, 1925 to John and Mary McLean in Green Island Cove.

She was married for 78 years to Ivany Parrill and together they raised their family of 5 children Judy, Ruby, Derek, Jock and Gervin in Pines Cove. She was blessed with 10 grand- children and 18 great grand-children.

Rita is forever loved and remembered by husband Ivany, children Judy, Ruby ( Donald), Derek ( Linda), Jock (Wendy). Grandchildren Daphne, Patsy ( Andrew), Dale ( Dwayne), Danette (Ken) , Darrell ( Janice) , Pam (Lloyd), Trina (Damian), Cory ( Tara), Derek D. ( Leah), Robby.

Great Grand-children: Shelby, Michael, Ryan, Robert, Bree, Kyle, Jack, Allie, Neil, Jarrett, Liam, Alexis, Amber, AJ, Brittany, Brody, Mia, Miley.

Rita was predeceased by her parents John and Mary McLean. Son Gervin. Granddaughter Peggy. Sisters Audrey, Eliza, Edith and Maria. Brothers Tom, George, Hayward, John, Nelson. Son in law Harvey Hedge.

McLEAN, JOSEPHINE

March 8, 1946 - November 21, 2021

Josephine was born in Pines Cove on March 8, 1946. She was the 5th of 16 born to George Henry and Elizabeth Jane Crane. Josephine was a beautiful and kind hearted woman. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Josephine loved going to bingo, playing cards and especially loved her darts. She leaves to mourn her Children, Calvin (Eleanor), Clayton (Dorcas), Colin; Grandchildren; Conrad, Colton, Keegan; Siblings, Ralph (Hannah), Rendall, Garfield (Hazel), Maxwell (Juanita), Myrtle (Isaiah), Joyce (James), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Josephine is predeceased by her Husband, Aaron Mclean; Parents, George Henry and Elizabeth Jane Crane; Siblings, John, Earl, Nelson, Roland, Amie Marie, Lennora, Dorothy, Augustine, Evelyn; as well as sister-in-laws, Betty and Una. passed away on November 14th, 2017 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony at the age of 96 years. She leaves to mourn her Children Violet (Norman), Reginald, Joyce, Ada (Gerald), Joe (Lelvie), Ron (Wavey), Wayne, Gorvin (Mary Jane), Elmer (Arleen) as well as a large circle of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, and extended family. She was predeceased by her Husband Allan; Son Ross; Granddaughters Sonya and Tonya; Parents Ruth and William; Brothers Clyde, Lambert, Sidney, George William, Douglas; Sister Violet; and son-in-law Melvin Bown. Visitation was held from Lower Cove Anglican Church from where the funeral was held on November 17th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Omar officiating. Margaret Manuel

Born to John and Elizabeth Parrill on August 7, 1922 in Pines Cove, Newfoundland. She moved to Eddies Cove East at a young age. She met the love of her life, John Ross, and together they had five children. Margaret E. Manuel passed away peacefully on November 20, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. She leaves to mourn her sons: Colin (Donna), Gary, Boyd (Marilyn), Shawn (Mary); daughter: Madonna (Ernest); grandchildren: Lana, Chad, Kent, Brad, Ryan, Matthew, Jamie, Sarah, Justin, Demetre, Brenden, Isabella; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: John Parrill along with several nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, John Ross; mother and father Elizabeth and John Parrill; Sisters Virge, Bessy, Liza, Goldie; and brothers Albert, and Darius (Roy). Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral took place at the St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on November 24, 2015 with Fr.
