EARLE, HERBERT

While surrounded by family members, Herbert Earle passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on November 8, 2024 at the age of 78 years. Herbert was born on September 29, 1946 at St. Lunaire, the youngest of Mary Ann and Augustus Earle.

On October 3, 1969, Herb married his forever sweetheart, Pearl Tucker of Quirpon. Together, they raised their four beautiful children. For most of his adult life, Herb was engaged in the heavy equipment industry as owner/operator or employee. He worked with various companies across the Province, ending his career with Nalcor in Churchill Falls upon his retirement in 2011.

Herb will forever be loved and remembered by wife Pearl (of 55 years); sons Gary (Loraine) and Byron (Kimberly); daughter Mona; two precious grandchildren, Hayley and Logan; son-in-law, Roger Young; brother Garth (Donna) and sister Marilyn Peyton; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and brothers-in-law Roland (Minnie), Leslie (Millicent), Carl (Joyce), Wilbert (Irene), Alwin (Millicent), and Gary (Marion).

Predeceased by beloved daughter Glenda; his parents; step-grandson, Brian Polischuk; and siblings Evelyn, Daisy, Viola, John, Thomas, and Florence.

Details for the Public Visitation will be posted shortly. Funeral will take place at Calvary Pentecostal Church, St. Lunaire-Griquet at 2pm on Wednesday November 13, 2024 with Pastors Geoff and Charity Butler officiating. burial to follow the service in the Church Community Cemetery.

SAUNDERS, HERBERT BAXTER

Passed away surrounded by family on June 29, Herb Saunders of St. Lunaire, at the age of 82 Predeceased by his parents, Olive and Fred Saunders, sister Gladys, and Grandchildren David and Adrienne. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Evangeline, his daughters Lynn (Mike) and Janice, his son Boyd (Jennifer), 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also, his 4 brothers, 5 sisters and a vast circle of friends and family He was a fisherman for the majority of his life and loved working with his hands. He loved to pass on his knowledge and skills to his kids, grandkids, and anyone who wanted to learn. He enjoyed everything “outdoors”, fishing, hunting, cutting wood and cutting moose and his favorite pastime was berrypicking. He had an impact on many lives, everyone he's met, and will be forever missed and loved.
Visitation is being held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire - Griquet on Monday July 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, with the funeral service being held at 2pm on July 2nd, 2024 with pastors Geoff and Charity butler officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

LODER, RALPH WILBURN

June 25, 1948 - November 26, 2021

Ralph Wilburn Loder was born June 25, 1948 in Griquet to Selby & Blanche Loder. On May 30, 1969 he married the love of his life Marie (Roberts) of Quirpon. They made their home in Griquet where they raised their five daughters. Ralph spent most of his life as a fisherman in the summer and spent time with his father in the lumber woods in the winter. Ralph was a great husband and a wonderful father. His children were his pride and joy. He gave them unconditional love. In December 2000, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. In April of 2001 he started his 20 ½ years of kidney dialysis. He was in illness as he was in health, positive, caring, a lover of life & fun who took great delight in humour. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to mourn is his wife Marie, five daughters Sandra (Todd) Earle, Penny (Jason) Norman, Nancy (Jason) Pilgrim, Karen (Jammie) Bussey and Cathy (Allan) Jones. Nine grandchildren. Dana (Donald) Munro, Erin, Jesse, Bailey, Tracy, Lucas, Emily, Allison and Kayla. Two great grandchildren Brody and Tobey. Two brothers Albert (Gloria) Loder and Ross Loder. Six sisters Mary Loder, Ivy (Arthur) Bath, Selma Hill, Sadie (Nelson) Taylor, Alice (Kevin) Compton and Donna (Kenneth) Gray. An abundance of nieces and nephews, who he loved as his own. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. And the many friends, especially his card playing buddies Martin and Betty Snow.

Ralph also had another family who he adored, his dialysis family. The nurses and patients in the dialysis unit at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital always held a special place in his heart and he was very thankful for all the kindness that they showed him.

Ralph was pre deceased by his parents Selby and Blanche, his mother and father in-law Wilfred and Evelyn Roberts, brother in Law Abraham Hill. As well as his special uncle, friend and fishing partner Arthur Loder.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm from the Pentecostal church in Griquet on the 2nd of December 2021 with Pastor Bill Harnum Officiating. Burial to follow in the Church cemetery. HURLEY, SAMUEL STEVEN

Samuel Steven Hurley March 14, 1926 - August 25,2020 Samuel Hurley passed away peacefully at Roddickton House in Roddickton on August 25,2020 at the age of 94. He was born on March 14th,1926 but due to error his birth was listed as 1927, He was the only son born to James and Rebecca Hurley of Westport,NL along with his sister Sarah. He moved to Ship Cove as a very young boy with his family and lost his father James shortly after. His mother remarried his step father Charles Decker and they both had 6 other children. Samuel met his first wife Bessie Andrews and were married Nov 10,1948 and together they raised 10 children, Bessie passed in 1987 and after several years met Louise Hammond and were married until her death in 2004. Samuel worked as a fisherman and in the lumber woods for most of his working life. He also worked in carpentry, he enjoyed working with his hands making figures and boats with wood and other materials which he sold or gave to family,friends and those who just stopped by, which admired them. He also enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, berry picking, and gardening. Samuel is survived by his children James Hurley, Catherine (Edward) Humby, Edna (Lloyd) Desmond, Wilson Hurley, Patricia Mercer, Guy (Joy)Hurley, Iona Taylor, Audrey Hurley(Sterling Dawe), Siblings Sarah Hedderson, Florence Hedderson and Jessie Tucker, along with 25 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James Hurley, Rebecca Decker and step father Charles Decker, wifes Bessie Hurley and Louise Hurley, daughter Audrey Hurley, son Edmund Hurley, daughter in law Lephna Hurley, son in law Keith Mercer, brothers Henry, Charles and Wilbur Decker and sister Bertha Hedderson. Funeral services will take place on Friday August 28, 2:00pm at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire- Griquet followed by burial at Pentecostal cemetery in Ship Cove.
