HUMBY, ALMA LILLIAN

Alma Lillian Humby was born on July 19, 1934, in New Melbourne to Alexander and Amelia Harris.

In the 1950s she moved to Roddickton where she taught at A.C Palmer Pentecostal School for 30 years. She loved and respected her students and spoke of them often following her retirement in 1993. Teaching was her passion, and she has left a lasting impact on many lives as a result.

In 1960 she married George Humby and they had three sons, Paul, Peter, and Perrin. Whie raising a family, she took a break from teaching and helped manage the Imperial Oil business for nine years. They were also blessed with eight (8) grandchildren and six (6) great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and jumped at any opportunity to provide a nice hot meal to those she loved most. She was happiest when all her family were sitting around her table.

Throughout her life she enjoyed excursions with her friends, especially cabin trips and fishing with Aunt Marg, and camping in the motorhome with Dulcie. These are memories she treasured and talked about as some of the best times of her life.

Her greatest pleasure was ensuring that everyone around her was happy and taken care of and she blessed many in her life as God blessed her.
Visitation is being held at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton beginning Sunday Nov. 10th and Continuing through to the funeral service at 2pm on Tuesday Nov. 12th with Pastor M. Pittman officiating. burial will follow the service at the Community Cemetery.

CANNING, LILLIAN MARY YVONNE

January 9, 1940 - May 3, 2024

It is with broken hearts that the family of Lillian Mary Yvonne Canning announces her passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL on May 03, 2024, at the age of 84 years. Lillian passed away peacefully into the loving arms of God, surrounded by her loving family and will forever be remembered for the loving wife, mom and grandmother that she was. On January 22, 1959 she married her soulmate, to that union came seven beautiful children. Lillian gave her heart to the Lord in August 1958 and faithfully served him with all her heart and soul and committed her time as a very active member of the choir for 29 years, head of the Sunday School department for 17 years, president of the ladies group for years and also a Sunday school teacher.

Lillian was the most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was well-loved by all who had the honour to know her. She worked tirelessly to give her family what they needed. Lillian worked at the local fish plant while raising seven children and taking care of her household. She loved to knit, sew, bake and cook. Her family always looked forward to receiving one of her delicious carrot cake or her homemade pickles.

She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories her husband Wilson Canning. Daughters; Pamela(Perry), Karen, Jean (Scott), Darlene (Morris). Sons; Wayne(Louie), David (Joyce), Morgan (Janice), Travis (Nola) Grandson/son. 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 foster grandchildren. Also left to mourn is her darling sister Ruby Sacrey, her brother-in-laws; Martin Canning, Earl (Hazel); Sister-in-laws, Pearl (Calvin), Madonna, Joan(Grant) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Lillian is predeceased by her parents Theophilus and Milford Hopkins, Sisters Bessie Fillier and brother-in-law Gilbert Fillier, Daisy Hopkins and brother-in-law Gordan Hopkins. Also Sister-in-law Phyllis Cassell, Susie Canning; brother-in-laws, Harrison Canning, Winston Fillier, Wilbourn Fillier and Albert Cassell. And her son-in-law Melvin Pilgrim.

Public visitation to take place from the Englee Apostolic Faith Church on Sunday, May 5, 2024, and Monday, May 6, 2024 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Hewlett officiating. Interment to follow.

WHITE, LILLIAN

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 16th day of March 2015, Mrs. Lillian White of Sandy Cove was in her 77th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Louis(Michelle), Whyman(Denise), Albert(Blanche), Bruce(Loretta), Grandchildren Bradley(Selina), Brandon(Jennifer), Heather, Chantelle, Tyler, Shana, Rebecca, Sarah, Great Grandsons Brayden, Colton, Jaxon, Daughter-in-Law Linda, Brother Amos, Sisters Francis(Gerry), Margarite(Elam), Sister-in-law Maria White, Thamise(Levi) Normore, Brother-in-Law Wilfred Baines. He was predeceased by her husband George Henry, Son Amos Leslie, Grandson Zachery, his Parents Matthew and Sophie Genge. Visitation was held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Friday March 20th 2015 with Rev. Marlene Harvey and Layperson Joyce White officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery in Savage Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
