COOMBS, CHESLEY WALLACE

Chesley Wallace Coombs was born in Newfoundland and Labrador, and Lived alongside his parents, siblings and friends for many years. At a young age, Chesley moved away form home to work in Alberta, where he enjoyed a life long career as a renowned welder and brother with the boiler makers union for over 15 years.

Chesley Passed away into peace on the 31st day of July, 2022 at the age of 64 years after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. he was surrounded by loved ones whom will strive to honour his memory and life.

Chesley will always be lovingly remembered by; the mother of his children Margaret Lavery, Sons Bradley and David, Daughters Sandra and Lisa, brothers Percy Coombs, William Coombs and Clifford (Leona), sisters Vermeta J. Coombs (Winston), Matilda J. Coombs( Hiram), Nancy Ann Diamond (Ralph), Elizabeth House (Dean), Nephews and Nieces ; Medina Genge (Toma), Daris Coombs, Gavin Coombs, Edna Diamond, Curtis Diamond and Benjamin Coombs.

Chesley was Predeceased by his mother Elva Joyce Coombs and Father George William Coombs.

Visitation and a family service will be held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point on the evening of the 11th of August, 2022, From which the funeral service will be held at 1pm on the 12th of August, 2022 with the Rev. Terry Coates officiating, Burial will follow in the Anglican Community Cemetery at Pond Cove Branch.

GARDINER, BERNARD JOHN

Passed away from the White Bay Health Centre in Roddickton on October 29th, 2017 at the age of 58 years. He leaves to mourn with cherished memories his spouse Paula Talbot; Children Brady, Alexis, Jenny, Jacinta, Bernard Jr; Brothers Martin (Patricia), Paddy; Sisters Eileen (troy), Madeline, Maureen (Gale); Special Aunt Gwendolyn Clements as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Bernard was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary Gardiner. Visitation was held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral was held on November 3, 2017 at 2:00 with Fr. Ralph officiating. Interment followed. BYRNE, TERRENCE (TERRY) DAVID

Passed peacefully away on October 29th, 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 59.  Terry lived a simple life.  He was a very quiet and gentle person.  Terry loved to read, watch movies and had a large collection of both.  At some point while driving or walking the streets of St Anthony you would have passed him along the way.  Terry is gone, but never forgotten for he lives on in the hearts and minds of those he knew and loved. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his mother Nellie; Sisters Philomena (Blaine), Gertie (Kenny), Bernice (Lonny); Brothers Anthony, Vince, Frank (Faye), Gord and Wilburn as well as a large circle of aunts, an uncle, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Terry is predeceased by his father Joseph. Visitation took place from Kerry M Fillatre’s Home with the funeral service taking place from the Roman Catholic Church in St Anthony at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 with Father Ralph officiating. WILLIAMS, WHYMAN

Passed away on October 24th, 2017 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 57 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his partner Michelle; Son Dylan; Stepsons Ryan and Jeff; Grandkids Jade, Autumn, Parker, and Kirsty; Sisters Caroline, Vivian, Yvonne (Lambert); Brothers George (Judy), Stephen (Rachel), Cornelious; Mother and Father in law Pat and Angela Walsh; Sisters and Brothers in Law as well as extended family and friends. Whyman was predeceased by his Father and Mother Hubert and Jane Williams. Visitation took place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral was held on October 27th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating. Passed away on July 8th, 2017 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 57 years. Passed peacefully away at his home in Goose Cove, May 19, 2017 at the age of 77. PITTMAN, IRENE ISABELLE

passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony on May 11, 2017, a few weeks shy of her 78th birthday. She was born on May 30th, 1939 and lived in Bird Cove, NL. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Primus Pittman, of 61 years, her children Tom (Ciara), Lily (Angus), Nellie (Wally), Theresa (Prim), Prim (Annette), Dennis (Janet), Sharon (David), & Desmond (Tammy), sister Mary (Victor), grandchildren Murray, Kimberley (Shannon), Jeremy (Shelley), Danan, Wesley, Felicia (Dylan), Ashley (Josh), Brandon, Lytora, Colten, Brayden, Garfield, Brock, & Brianna, great grandchildren Cody, Jada, Jorja, Taylor, & Jackson. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Elizabeth Gould, father Thomas Gould, son Martin, grandsons Anson & Josh, great grandson Jay, brothers Maxwell, Pius, Edmund, Tom, Simon, & sister Annie. COATES, GIDEON

Passed away May 10th, 2017 at the age of 61 years. Gideon married the love of his life, June Sheryl Andrews, on November 28, 1975 and spent 41 years with her. They raised a family together. He loved his family, and his grand¬children were his pride and joy. He loved spoiling them and praising them at every opportunity. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loving wife June; 3 children: Cordell, Colleen (Dion), Cindy (Donovan) and 3 grandchildren: Makayla, Cody and William; 7 siblings: Elsie (Chester), Ollie, Lelvie (Joe), Dian (Terence), Fanny, Seymour (Cora) and Elizabeth (Clyde); several aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends. He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence & Martha Elizabeth Coates. SIMMS, OLIVE

Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 25th, 2017 at the age of 95 years. Olive Simms was born on April 25, 1921 in Great Brehat to Thomas and Jane Cull.  She was one of ten children. On December 18, 1940, she married Jacob Simms of St. Anthony Bight.  It was here that they lived and raised their two children, Celeste and Wes, and where Olive would live for the next nearly 77 years.  In 1971 Jacob died, and Olive continued on.  Olive was friendly out going person who had a lovely smile and a wonderful laugh. She was a faithful member of the St. Anthony Bight United Church, as well as a loyal member of the United Church Women and a faithful contributor to the Canadian Bible Society. On Saturday, March 25th, Olive passed peacefully away in the presence of her family. She is survived by her children Celeste (John) and Wes, as well as her grandchildren Wade (Sheila) and Brenda (Eric), great grandchildren Shawna (Ryan), Erika, Tony and Jodi and great-great grandchild Eva.  She is also survived by her brother Walter and sister Florrie. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob, her parents, her son-in-law Tony Cooper as well as three brothers and four sisters. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on March 29th, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating.
