TUCKER, GORDON "GORD"

July 18th, 1945- October 6th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon “Gord” Tucker: whom passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL; on October 6th, 2023.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his daughter Lisa (Norman) Applin, and his two grandsons: Griffin and Parker Applin; and his dear friend Emma Hopkins.

He is survived by his brothers; Chris (Sheila) Tucker, Douglas (Marlene) Tucker, Edward Tucker, Robert (Wanda) Tucker; his sisters; Berdina Gloster, Annie (Robert) Poirier, Joyce Davies, Donna (Harris) Tucker, Joan (Wallace) Hoard; his sister-in-laws; Hilda Hempshall, Minnie (Michael) Noseworthy, Sheila (Darrell) Randell, Sherry Brenton, and Eunice Tucker; his brother-in-laws; Melvin (Christine) Brenton, Willis (Brenda) Brenton, Alvin (Marlene) Brenton, Bruce (Jackie) Brenton, Larry (Rhonda) Brenton, and Douglas Brenton. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gord is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruth (nee Simms) Tucker; his wife Clara (nee Brenton) Tucker; his mother and father-in-law Eileen and Job Brenton; his siblings Joseph (Myrtle) Tucker, Charlotte (Frank) Lilly, Gladys (Edward) Patey, Gloria (Anthony) Notary, Pearl (Gabez) Howell, Effie (Charles) Hewlin, Herb Tucker, Francis, Verna, and Wilfred; his sister-in-law, Hildegard Tucker; his brother in-laws, Ralph Davies and Arthur Gloster; and his nephew, Tyson Brenton.

Visitation details to be announced. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Main Brook with Pastor Skinner officiating. Interment to follow in the Main Brook Salvation Army Cemetery.

EDDISON, ARTHUR

July 12, 1960 - May 27, 2022

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Arthur Eddison announce his passing. Art passed away peacefully at the Health Science Center in St. Johns surrounded by his beloved wife and three children at the age of 61.

Arthur Eddison was born on July 12, 1960 to Plemen and Marion Eddison of Noddy Bay. He was one of eight children who settled and built a house in his hometown. He married Janet Hillier on May 22, 1981 and had three beautiful children. Later in life Art gained four grandchildren which he absolutely adored!

Art was a long time employee for 30 plus years with Parks Canada in L’anse Aux Meadows. He was very dedicated to his job but looked forward to his retirement where he could enjoy all the outdoor activities that he loved.

Predeceased by his father Pleman and brother Truman. Art leaves to mourn his wife, Janet; son, Greg (Sherry); Daughters Sheena (Ryan) and Nikki (Adam); Grandchildren, Paityn, Ben, Jack and Conrad. Mother, Marion, two brothers and four sisters along with a large circle of extended family and friends.

Visitation to take place from the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning with the funeral service taking place at 2:00 on Wednesday, June 1 2022 with Rev Art Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow in the Quirpon Community Cemetery.

HEATH, MARVEN JAMES

November 6, 1957 – February 9, 2020

Passed away at the Health Science Center in St. Johns on February 9, 2020 at the age of 62. Marven loved the ocean, he spent his career there. Starting on a freighter ship as a teenager he saw the world. Settling in Lunenburg, N.S., he became a Marine Diesel Engineer and worked in the N.S. fishery for 16 years and raised a family. Finally he retired in his hometown of St. Anthony, NL due to illness. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, His Sons, Murray (Bridgewater, N.S.), Clark (St. Anthony, N.L.); Brothers, Maurice, Murray, Paul, Trevor and their families as well as a circle of extended family and friends. Marven was predeceased by his Parents, William George Heath and Jessie Irene Heath. Private visitation took place from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony from where a private celebration of life will take place on Monday with Pastor Jeff Elliott offficiating. Interment to follow. CAINES, LOUIS

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Louis Caines. Born March 22, 1958 passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre on Nov 11, 2018. He leaves to mourn his loving and dedicated wife Jane; Daughters Jilda (Abraham) and Paula. His pride and joy granddaughter Mia; Sisters, Dorcas, Elizabeth (George), Mary Ann (Edmund), Levinia, Myrtle (Wayde); Brother, Walter (Maria); Brother and sister in laws, Terence (Lucy), Troy (Trudy), Regina (Larry), Trudy (Lyndon), Anne (Garfield); as well as all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were very special to him. Louis was predeased by his parents Garfield and Kezia, in laws Leslie and Hilda Chambers, brother in laws Kerry Fillatre and Churchill Mitchelmore. He will be missed forever! Visitation took place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove. The funeral was held on Friday, November 16th 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jennifer Renouf officiating, inurnment followed. PITTMAN, LLOYD

Passed away on February 8th, 2018 at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s NL at the age of 62 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife and best friend Elsie; his ray of sunshine Mackenzie Short; Brothers Wayne (Vina), Dean (Clara); Sister Joan (Glen); best friends Dorothy and Gerald Short; his nieces and nephews (his loved for children was evident in his pride for his nieces and nephews) as well as other extended family and friends. He will be loved and missed by many. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Glossen and Dulcie Pitman, and his parents in Law, Jacob and Gertrude Campbell. Visitation was held from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Katie officiating. SNOW, ERIC CLEMENT

Passed away on January 14th from the Health Science Centre in St. Johns at the age of 53 years. Eric was born to Francis and the late Mary Snow on February 5, 1964. He met the love of his life, Diane Hedderson; they married on June 8th, 1985. Together they raised 3 beautiful children who are his precious jewels; Steven (Tamara), Victoria (Todd), Varrick (Jenna). They have 7 Grandchildren; Cortaz, Dakota, Nathan, Kaci-Rae, Amaya, Alexia, and Samuel, whom Eric loved very much. Leaving with fond and loving memoires are wife Diane; Children Steven (Tamara), Victoria (Todd), Varrick (Jenna); 7 Grandchildren; Father Francis; Brothers Roland (Trudy), Leslie (Paula); Sister Mona as well as a large circle of family and friends. Eric is predeceased by his mother Mary; Mother and Father in law Madeline and Hector Hedderson; and brothers-in-law Billy and Gordon Hedderson. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral was held on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Captain Rideout officiating. FLYNN, PHILIP JOHN

Passed away at the Health Science Centre in St. Johns on November 23, 2016 at the age of 50 years. Visitation was held at the Sacred Heart Parish in Conche from where the funeral service was held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 am with Fr. Lourdhu officiating. Interment followed.
