WALKER, EVELYN EDITH (nee Slade)

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, that our family announces the passing of Evelyn Walker on May 26, 2022, at the age of 93. At her passing she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Evelyn was born in St. Anthony, NL in 1928, where she met and married Joe and lived most of her life. She worked tirelessly to obtain her medical librarian certificate and through her many years at the Grenfell Hospital she rose to be the medical records librarian, retiring in 1989.

At her passing Mom had many roles, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend. She was at her happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. When we would get together mom loved baking breads and pies, cooking all of our childhood favorites and playing a raucous game of “Bang”. Mom enjoyed knitting and many of us were fortunate enough to enjoy the warmth of her gunner mitts, wool socks, toques, chair booties and afghans.

Evelyn is survived by daughters Jean (Jim), Joan (Bill), Dona (Wilson), Linda (Bill), her daughter in law Marilyn, her sister Millicent and her very dear friend Rachel and her family. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently, her first great great grandchild, all of whom she loved and adored.

She was predeceased by her husband Joe, son Tony and 3 grandchildren, Andrea, Adam and David

Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held at a to be determined date in at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony NL as per her request where she will be laid to rest with those that passed before her.

In lieu of flowers etransfer donations can be made to the Grenfell Foundation at foundation.south@lghealth.ca. The money received will be used to purchase much needed equipment for the hospital.

CASSELL, EVELYN SUSANNA

August 25, 1938 - August 9, 2021

Evelyn was born in Hooping Harbour to Alfred and Bessie Pollard on August 25, 1938. She went to St. Anthony at age 15 and worked in the hospital with the Grenfell Mission. She later returned to Englee and worked at the hospital there. It was in Englee that she met her Sweetheart, Elias Cassell. Together they moved to Little Harbour Deep from 1957-1964. In 1964 they again returned to Englee where she worked on the fish plant for a short time. She was a homemaker who often would babysit and care for other children. She loved to knit, crochet, and loved her puzzle books. She attended church faithfully as it was her number 1 priority. She did not have any children of her own but was like a second mother to her sister Fannie’s 8 children, whom she loved- and they loved her too. She passed peacefully away at the White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton, NL on August 9, 2021 at the age 82 years.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, Elias Cassell; Special Niece, Bessie Mae whom she lived with for the past 6 years; Sisters, Irene, Yvonne (Fred Canning), Joan; Brothers, Hayward (Joan Pollard), Alwin (Fay Pollard); Nieces, Nephews, and a large number of Relatives and Friends. She is predeceased by her Parents, Alfred and Bessie Pollard; Sisters, Sadie, Edith, Myrtle, Fannie; Brothers, Wilmore and Ricky; Brother-in-law, Chesley Randell, Jerry Randell, Ivan Gillard; and Parents-in-law, Ashton and Lilly Cassell.
Visitation to be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Michael Ivany officiating. Interment to follow in the Apostolic Faith Cemetery in Englee. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey, Funeral Director.

Passed away into peace at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 22nd of February 2021, Evelyn Genge of Anchor point at the age of 92. Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Edward , Beloved Grandson Rocky, Children Beatrice, Yvonne, Wilson and Ethel, as well as her parents Thomas and Beatrice and sister Eliza. Left to mourn with loving and wonderful memories are her son Melvin, Daughter in law Helena, Precious granddaughter Shelley, Grandson in law Jamie and her precious great granddaughters Alexis and Anna, her sister Ethel and Brother in law Clyde and family, Special Nieces Beatrice and Palma and their families, her special granddaughter Jennifer White and her very special friend Rosie as well as a large circle of other family and friends. burial service was held at the old
Anglican Cemetery in Anchor Point where she was laid to rest next to her dearly beloved husband, the service was officiated by Rev. Deacon Vernon Short. the funeral services were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Homes, St. Anthony nd Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral director.

BROMLEY, EVELYN JUANITA

October 4, 1962 - February 28, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Evelyn Juanita Bromley, of Englee, at age 56, on Thursday, February 28, 2019. She passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, NL, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born on October 4, 1962, the daughter of the late Lloyd Hopkins and Annie Pollard. In 1992, Evelyn married Stephen Bromley of Conche, the town in which she raised her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen; children: Trudy, Jessica (Robert), Sarah (Robbie), Michael (Alana), and Jonathan (Erica); grandchildren: Amy, Ryan, and Liam; brother, Roger; sister, Bernice; parents-in-law, John and Susan Bromley, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, cousins, and life-long friends. She is predeceased by her father, mother, and brother, Roddick. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Conche, NL, with Fr. George officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 4, and Tuesday, March 5, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Rosary will take place Monday at 7:00 p.m., with the Wake service being held Tuesday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Sacred Heart Parish, the residents of Conche, Englee, and other surrounding areas for their continued support and compassion at this most difficult time.

ADAMS, EVELYN JANE

June 15, 1939 – November 13, 2018
Evelyn Jane Adams (nee Pilgrim) was born in St. Lewis to Wesley and Clara Pilgrim on June 15th, 1939. She married Harold and together they raised seven children, Patricia, Mary, Oral, Calvin, Waddell, Joan and Bert. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren. Evelyn was a remarkable lady with a heart of gold and she loved her family unconditionally. She loved to cook for her family and everyone loved her homemade bread. She also loved to knit. She was well known for her kindness and generosity and she was always there to lend a helping hand to all. Evelyn Leaves to Mourn, her Sons, Oral, Calvin (Lisa), Waddell (Gaye), Bert (Robyn); Daughters, Patricia (Stafford), Mary (Randy), Joan (Glenn); Brothers, Eric, Albert, Fredrick, Murdock, Leonard & Leon; Sisters, Betty, Millicent & Alice; 22 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Evelyn was Predeceased by her Husband, Harold Adams; Parents, Wesley & Clara Pilgrim; Brothers, Aubrey & Samuel; Sisters, Lavenia & Blanche. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Faith Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral was held on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Harnum officiating. ROBERTS, EVELYN REBECCA

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on August 5, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Evelyn Rebecca (Taylor) Roberts was born on May 3, 1933 at Raleigh to Allan and Deliah (Bessey) Taylor. On December 21, 1951 she married the love of her life, Wilfred Roberts of Quirpon. They made their home in Quirpon together raising 6 children. In 1972 they moved to St. Anthony, where she worked for many years with Fishery Products. After retirement she and Wilfred enjoyed time with their family and friends, their cabins and gardens and attending this church. Evelyn was a life member of the UCW. On Friday, August 5th Evelyn passed peacefully away after battling cancer, and went to be with the love of her life, with whom she spent 64 years. She is survived by her children Marie (Ralph), Cecil (Jessie), Stafford (Patricia), Wavey (Dean), Keith (Marie), Kevin (Debbie), 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by sisters, Elvie (Cyril) Campbell, Selma Taylor and Grace Taylor, her brother-in-law George, sister-in-law Peggy Taylor many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral which was held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dinesh Gomes and Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed in the Quirpon Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

WILCOX, EVELYN WAVEY

Passed Away into peace on December 11th, 2014 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial, Mrs. Evelyn Wavey Wilcox of Roddickton in her 67th year. Evelyn leaves to mourn, her husband Melvin (Roddickton), Sons Morris & Darlene Wilcox (Roddickton), Benson & Philomena Wilcox (Main Brook), Eddie & Pearl Wilcox (Grand Falls), Bradley Wilcox (Grande Prairie, AB). Daughters Valda & Raymond Hancock (Roddickton), Dina Hancock (Roddickton), Linda and Edward Hancock (Roddickton) sister Susie Hancock (Roddickton), as well as 14 Grand children, 3 Great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton, From which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Sunday December 14th with rev. Christopher R. Hewlett officiating. burial followed the service at the Church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Funeral Director.
