CAMPBELL, ALVIN

July 1, 1932 - October 4, 2023

It is with heavy hearts, that the Campbell family announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. Alvin Warren Campbell, age 91, of Wild Bight, formerly of Cape Norman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital.

Alvin was born on Cape Norman to the late Gertie (Bradbury) and Jacob Campbell.

Alvin worked 35+ years as a Lighthouse Keeper on Cape Norman where him and his wife raised their four boys.

Before trucks and cars, he would provide transportation to the hospital by snowmobile for anyone in need. He also took on the difficult task to recruit teachers to the area and would provide them housing.

He was an entrepreneur providing many services to surrounding communities such as a Yamaha and Dodge dealership, Campbell’s Esso Auto Body Shop and Gas Station and Harbour View Lounge and Take-out that many would argue had the best chicken around.

In his younger days, he enjoyed boat building, carpentry, snowmobile rides to the sawmill, helping out at the garage and bartending where he met lots of fishermen from around the province.

He loved the company of his children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
