HANCOCK, WILLIS RAYFIELD

Willis Rayfield Hancock.

Willis was born on February 3, 1933 to Gideon and Grace Hancock.
Brother Willis met the love of his life, - Dulcie Blanche Hodge and was married on November 11, 1952 at Roddickton.  They were blessed with six children: Grant, Cora, Randy, Diane, Morgan, and Billy.  After giving his heart to the Lord in 1957 , he faithfully attended Church with his family. Bro. Willis was known for giving an inspiring testimony which vividly showed his excitement  of been saved. Willis was a well-respected man in this community and surrounding communities. He worked with the department of Highways foe 30 years.  He was a very hard worker who worked many long hours at his company - Canada Bay Construction for 32 years.  After he retired from the company, he loved to go for a ride and visit the jobs sites of his employees just to see how things were going and have a chat. In July of 2007 he suffered a stroke that left him somewhat immobile but still he would attend Church whenever he could.  He was admitted to the Curtis Memorial Hospital on January 4, 2017 then on December 20, 2018  he moved to the John Grey Center. Recently  he became ill and was hospitalized until Monday August 10,  2020 around 3 am when he took his heavenly flight to meet his Lord and Master whom he served faithfully for many years. He was predeceased by his Parents – Gideon & Grace Hancock: Wife - Dulcie: Son – Morgan.

The funeral service and visitation was held at the apostolic faith Church in Roddickton NL, on the 13th of August, 2020 with Rev. Christopher Hewlett and Rev. GENGE, MARTIN

The family of the late, Martin Genge, announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Long Term Care Centre, Norris Point, NL on Sunday August 9, 2020 in his 72nd year. Martin was a lifelong educator and avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish and snowmobile. He was a natural leader, with the Newfoundland Teachers Association and Lions Club, and a dedicated volunteer in his community. 

He leaves to mourn with loving memories,  his wife Donna, son Gregory (Stephanie), daughters Glenda (Corey) and Gaylene (Marty);  9 grandchildren Alyson, Marty, Natalie, Emma, Luke, Evan, AJ, Lincoln, and Daxton. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, and their families, including Stanley (Winnie), Ike (Pam), Aug (Dan) and Clarence (Wendy), Rubena and Percy;  as well as his in laws Reg (Isi), Ford (Emmie), Claude (Joan), Margaret, Mary (Freeman), Clara, Olive, Evelyn and Joan. A large circle of nieces and nephews, and wonderful family and friends in the village of Deadman's Cove, mourn his passing. 

Martin was predeceased by his sons Anthony Scott and Martin Glen, his parents Jane and Isaac,   parents in law Joseph and Millicent Rumbolt, sister Judy McLean, brother Gerald Genge, sisters in law Amelia (Edwin) Collis, Faye (Ben) Smith, Violet (Donald) Bradley, and Ruby, as well and brothers in laws Raymond, Chesley, Ross, Harvey, Bernard and Joseph Rumbolt. 

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the lovely physicians, nursing and support staff at the Bonne Bay Long Term Care Centre and the Protective/Veterans Unit in Corner Brook Long Term Care. 

A funeral and celebration of life will be held at a later date, when all family can be together. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Bonne Bay Long Term Care Centre in Norris Point Newfoundland.

ROBERTS, MELVIN HAROLD

Melvin was born October 19, 1945 and he went home to be with the Lord August 10, 2020. Left to mourn: wife Irene, for almost 50 years; Oct. 2020, son Bradley (Trina), Son Trent (Paula) and daughter Jennifer (Andy Hoddnott). Also five grandchildren: Brandon (Holly), Latesha, Makayla, Jada, Hannah and Kennedy, a great grandson Michael and a step great granddaughter Sierra.  Sister Ella Burton (Carl), sister Nellie Jennings (Les), sister Rita Colbourne and sister Debbie Squires (Ray). Brother in-law Max Short (Ethel), brother in-law Jim Short (Ena) and sister in-law Josie Powell. As well as a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by parents Fred and Pearl Roberts, sister Ruby and brother Willie.  Since his first stroke on December 8, 2014, Melv has been very actively enjoying life; he was a walking miracle. Because he had no drivers license, he loved his bike more than ever. If Mel wasn’t walking he was out and about on his bike. In the woods was top priority for Melv. He couldn’t understand anyone who didn’t enjoy being in the woods. Fishing, well that was next in line and then it was the garden. Melv couldn’t wait to set the potatoes, split a fish, pick some berries, especially partridge berries, and he always loved meeting with friends for his morning chat or to share a cup of tea and a lunch. He was a very kind and loving brother, husband, father, poppy and friend who will be missed tremendously. a private visitation will proceed the funeral, which will take place at 3pm on the 14th of august, 2020 at the United Church ship cove with Rev. ROWE, CRAIG JOHN "FLINT"

Craig John “Flint” Rowe, passed peacefully away with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 49 years, on August 9, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. Predeceased by his grandparents: John and Victoria Rowe and Frank and Mary Martin. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his parents: Jack and Judy Rowe of St. Anthony; brother: Colin (Nicole) Rowe of St. John’s; sister: Carla (Jason) Sharpe of Stephenville, NL; niece: Olivia Sharpe; nephews: Jack Sharpe and James Rowe; close buddies: Trent and Shawn. As well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Special thanks for the wonderful care and support from the hematologists, staff of 4 North A and ICU at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Craig was an avid salmon fisherman and spent a lot of time in his happy place on the river, especially Main Brook. As well his immense knowledge of computers and technology were always an asset to those who knew him, particularly when they needed help. Funeral services will be held at a later date in St. Anthony. Casper Roland Pilgrim was born to Maisie and Reuben Pilgrim on June 8th, 1939 in Main Brook and passed away gracefully in his home on August 8th, 2020.  He leaves to mourn his wife Isabel (Suley) who he married on April 21st, 1961, along with their six children, grand children and great grand children; Brenda Rumbolt (Wade) Children Karisa(Chad)and Jordan, Ivan Pilgrim (Claudelle) Brandon, Otto Pilgrim (Anne) Kenny(Julie), Briana, Todd Pilgrim (Brenda) Dwayne(Vennesa), Shelley, Tina, Ivan, Arnold (Sandra) Brittany, Courtney. PEYTON, ALVIN MAXWELL

February 18, 1952 - August 3, 2020

Alvin Maxwell Peyton was born to William John and Evelyn Peyton of Griquet on February 18th, 1952. He was one of eight children. In 1976 he married Goldie Adams of Griquet and together they raised three children. He began fishing as a young boy with his dad. He continued fishing in a small boat until 1977 when he partnered with his dad and brother-in-law, Gloss Hedderson, to invest in a 65' longliner. Together they fished for cod, turbot, and scallop until the moratorium in 1992. He then worked various jobs until he retired in 2016. In his spare time he liked making casting nets, listening to music, and going for a drive. In recent years he spent many hours standing on his bridge enjoying the view and chatting with many family and friends. Alvin leaves to mourn, his Wife, Goldie Peyton; Daughters, Bonnie, Lisa, Heather; Sisters, Inga, Ethel (Fred), Doreen (Jim), Wanda (Gloss), Netta; Brother Roy (Sharon); Step-Sister Judy Best as well as a circle of extended family and friends. Alvin was Predeceased by his Parents, William John and Evelyn Peyton as well as his Sister, Eliza. A private viewing was held from the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle from where the funeral service was held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jared Pitcher officiating. LANE, CLAYTON OLIVER

March 25, 1934 - August 2, 2020

Clayton Oliver Lane was born on March 25, 1934 to Marcella (GIllard) Lane and Naaman Lane. He also had 1 brother and 2 sisters. Clayton passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on August 2, 2020 at the age of 86 years. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of loving memories, Ruby Brenton & Irvin Dempsey, and families, who he lived with for the past 21 years as well as many extended family such as nieces, nephews and family friends. Clayton was predeceased by his Parents, Marcella and Naaman Lane; Stepfather, Sylvester Hancock; Brother Roland (Mary) Lane; Sisters, May (Dorman) Reid, Beatrice (Albert) Brenton. Cremation to take place with funeral to follow from the Apostolic Church in Englee, date and time to be announced.

Passed away June 28, 2020 at the Health Science Center in St. Johns at the age of 63 years. GENGE, YVONNE BEULAH

September 22, 1945 - July 23, 2020

Beulah Yvonne Genge was born in Hatchet Cove, Trinity Bay, on September 22, 1945.  It is with deep sadness that we announce her passing on July 23, 2020.  Beulah passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s, NL. Beulah moved to Anchor at the young age of 16 to teach in an all grade school. Soon after, she met and married Elijah Genge and they had two children, William (Bill) and Caroline. Beulah had an impact on the lives of many, with her huge heart and wealth of kindness. She opened her heart and home to all who met her. She was well known for her kindness and her love of family.  She enjoyed Bingo and playing cards, as well as baking delicious pies and sweets to share with family and friends.

Beulah will be remembered by her son William (Bill), daughter Caroline, daughter-in-law Delores, son-in-law Kevin, grandchildren Jonathan and Charli (Cody), as well as her brothers John Bishop (Mildred), Harvey Bishop (Linda); sisters Ruby Bishop, Muriel Parsons, Clarice Tucker, Ida Glover; brothers-in-law Lambert Genge, Rufus Genge; sisters-in law Joyce Genge, Sophia Genge, Naomi Genge, Marilyn Bishop, Evelyn Bishop.
