John Scanlon of Bartlett’s Harbour was born May 31, 1938. He died on March 21, 2022, at the age of 83.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Effie Scanlon; daughters Honora (Carter) Taylor, Brenda (Harrison) Plowman, Elsie (Dino) Dredge, Mary Ann (Dennis) Applin, Edna (Daniel) Caines, Rita (Terry) Scanlon, Jackie (Brad) Hughes; Grandchildren Kylie (Brian) Taylor, Johnny (Sherry) Scanlon, Shannon (Angela) Applin, Terra Lynn (Marvin) Tatchell, Effie (Kris) Genge, Danielle (Tommy) Myers, Abby (Aaron) White, Harrison (Christina) Plowman, Kerry (Lisa) Applin, Chelsea (Trevor) Tatchell, Andrea (Sam) Scanlon, Brady (Crystal) Hughes; Great-grandchildren Kobe Taylor, Colby Baines, Lucas Caines, Keegan Taylor, Carly Tatchell, Jayden Genge, Ella Applin, Kayden Tatchell, Jordyn Plowman, Evan Applin, Tommy Myers, Connor Plowman, Jaxon Tatchell, Ava Genge, Luke White, and London Lam-Scanlon; Brother Joseph Scanlon and Sisters Susanne Thynne and Rita Offrey; Brother-in-law Martin (Evelyn) Gould and Sister-in-laws Emma (Lige) Way, Marina (Adrian) Myers, Lorraine (Roland) Dredge.

Predeceased by parents Joseph and Mary Ann Scanlon; Parents in-law Pius and Rita Gould; Brothers Jerry and Elias and Sisters Honora (John) Newcombe and Florence (Richard) Johnson. Brother in-law Robert Thynne, Peter Offrey, Romeo Gould and Sisters-In-Law Marion Scanlon, Linda Samson, and Anne (Jim) Randell.

Visitation to take place from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Bartlett’s Harbour beginning the evening of Wednesday, March 23, 2022 and continuing until the funeral on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Fr.
