January 26, 1939 - January 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet, beautiful mother, Nellie Norma Marie Way (Batstone) in her 84 year.

Nellie was born in Jackson’s Cove to Mack and Mamie Batstone in 1939. She met the love her life Benjamin in Baie Verte in 1965 and moved to Flower’s Cove in 1967 and married and raised 6 kids. Nellie was never a lady to sit idle, she was always on the go doing something for her family, whether it was tending house, hanging out a line of laundry or up on the point picking berries with her friend Dola. She hardly sat down long enough to eat her meals.

Nellie loved her family dearly. She dedicated her life to her husband and her children. Especially her Grandchildren, and Great-grandchildren. She loved them dearly. They meant the world to her. She longed for them to visit.

Like all mothers, she played the role of loving, caring, and dedicated mom to her most prize positions, her kids. But she was so much more than that to us. She our my best friend, our rock. She was the most gentlest soul that you would ever meet. There is no doubt in our minds that God has a spot prepared for her in Heaven. She was loved by everyone she encountered. She was definitely an angel in disguise.

She leaves to mourn her children: Austin (Aggie), Ivan, Neta, Bob, Derek (Patricia) and David; Her brother: Chester (Ruby); her grandchildren: Taylor, Gregory (Dayna), Caylee, and Gorata; Great-grandchildren: Nicolas and Naomi; Her nephews and nieces, a large circle of family and friends as well as a special mention to her lifelong friend, Bertha and to her homecare workers Cathy, Eliza, Petrina, and Patsy. She thought dearly of you all.

She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Benjamin; her parents: Mack and Maryann (Mamie) Batstone; Brother: Scott Batstone; Sisters: Nina Wellman, and Doris Webber; and her in-laws: Stephen and Alice Way.

We would like to thank Dr. Naghbi and Dr. Amatti and all of Moms Nurses for such loving care for her short stay at the hospital.

Visitation will be held from Kerry M.
