Passed away on August 20th, 2017 in Englee at the age of 65 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Sheila; Sons Draper, Cory (Leeann); Brothers John, Ralph (Arlene), Junior, Larry, Billy; Sisters Bridget (Wilb) Randell, Betty (Edgar) Fillier, Mary (Harry) Hopkins; Grandchildren April, Kaitlyn, Michael and Spencer as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral was held on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Michael Ivany officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lawrence Taylor announce his sudden passing on August 17, 2017 at the John M Gray Long Term Care facility in St. Anthony at the age of 80 years. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. GENGE, ALBERT JR.

passed away on August 16th, 2017 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Martha Jane Genge; Son Paul (Dolly); Daughter Wanda (Brad); Grandson Mavrik; Brother Noah (Moriah) Genge; Sisters Josie (Abraham) Genge, Jessie (Roland) Genge, Eileen (Stephen) Penny, Virginia Dredge as well as a circle of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his Parents Cyril Genge Sr. and Joyce Genge, and his Grandson Paul Guy Johnathan Genge (PG). Passed away July 27th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years. KENNEDY, DALE GERARD

passed away July 28th, 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 60 years. Dale was born to Mark and Isabel Kennedy of Bird Cove on May 7th, 1957. At a very young age he started writing sons and playing music which he continued to do until his illness came upon him- this was his passion in life. He had many talents and was very knowledgeable. He was a gifted musician and loved jamming with his buddies on the weekends. Throughout the years he spend endless hours working on the history of his community and he co-founded the Bird Cove-Plum Point Archaeology project. For his outstanding community efforts and Archaeology work he was given the James Pendegrast Award; the highest achievement an avocational archaeologist can receive in Canada. He had a countless number of friends and was well liked by all that knew him. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Isabel; Sisters Jessie (Pius) Gould, Rosalie (John) Pittman, Agnes (Romeo) Caines; Brothers Mark (Diana), Lyman (Marie), John (Audrey), Howard (Donna), Robert (Kerri), Nephews Merle (Sharon) Pittman, Sheldon (Dale) Gould, Enis (Andrea) Caines, Ranil (Felicia) Kennedy, Andy (Katie) Kennedy, Paul (Brianna) Kennedy, Wade (Hilary) Kennedy, Adam Kennedy; Nieces Ayeshea (Stacy) Pittman, Melissa (Maurice) Chambers, Deanna (Andre) Myers, Kendra Kennedy, Robyn Kennedy; Great Nieces and Nephews Lauren Pittman, Zackary Gould, Alaina Gould, Ella Caines, Sadie Conway, Brooke Kennedy, Markus Kennedy, Blair Kennedy, Evan Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Brody Pittman, Michael Myers, Milan Myers as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. FR. JOHNBOSCO VELLAPHADASS

Passed away on July 26th, 2017 at the age of 39 years. Father Vellaphadass who was affectionately known as Father Bosco, was ordained to the priesthood as a member of the Heralds of the Good News, Mary Queen of Apostles Province on January 2, 2005. Mary Queen of Apostles Provincialate is in Tamil Nadu, India.  Following his ordination, Father Johnbosco served 6 months as an associate pastor and in June of 2005 was appointed for 3 years as Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, Allagadda, India.  After that time, he served for 6 months in Italy and a further 6 years as Parish Priest in 3 different parishes in Tamilnadu, India before coming to Canada in 2014. Since March of 2015 he served as Parish Priest in Our Lady of Grace, Bird Cove, NL. Canada. Fr. Bosco will be sadly missed by Rani & Chinnappan Vellaphadass, (Mom & Dad), his Brothers: Mahimairaja, Britto Johnpeter & Prabhakaran and his Sister: Sharmi, his Niece & Nephew, Families and Friends both in Canada and in India. He was a kind-hearted person, he would never get mad with anyone, and he did good to anyone who met him. He always cared about his family and wanted to help them, he loved his Niece and Nephew. Father Gabriel his friend says “Bosco would always say: God will reward you for whatever good you do to others.” May God grant eternal rest to his soul. May God comfort the family and friends who mourn his loss. Visitation was held at the Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where funeral mass was held on Monday, July 31st, 2017 at 11 am. Interment to take place at his home, Thiruvathikunnam, Tamilnadu, India at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. passed away on July 24th, 2017 at St. Claire’s Mercy Hospital in St. Johns, NL at the age of 67 years. TAYLOR, AUSTIN TOMA

Passed away at the Janeway Children’s Hospital in St. John’s, NL at the age of 17 years. Austin Toma Taylor was born in 2000 in St. John's, NL and spent his early years in Raleigh. His family moved to Labrador City several years ago, but he still often returned to Raleigh where he enjoyed time with his grandparents and friends. Austin was a blessing to everyone who knew him, and he was blessed by sharing life with his parents Toma and Valerie (nee Smith), and his sister, Kendra (Kyle) and their two children AJ and Ella. In addition, Austin was blessed by the support of grandparents Glen and Barbara Taylor, Nellie and Willis Smith, Joan and Phil Bursey and Hedley Blake, and great grandparents Raymond Roberts and Everett and Jessie Blake. In addition, a large circle of aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many, many friends blessed Austin's days. Thank you all! The reality that each of you blessed Austin's life is directly related to the response of your hearts to the blessing that he was. Everywhere he went, Austin touched the hearts of people. Austin truly was a blessing. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love. LARKIN, THOMAS

passed away on July 7th, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Thomas was a fisherman by occupation and worked at other occupations following the 1992 moratorium. He had a fine sense of humour and an engaging manner, and he could be counted upon to share his ongoing interests in current affairs, at times passionately. He was loved by many and those who knew him will miss his anecdotes, stories, and his enjoyment of life. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his loving Wife, Myrtle; Children Tammy (James) and Tommy; Step-Daughter Linda (Garfield); grandchildren Stacy, Matthew, Ryan, Madison, Chole; great-grandchildren Kaden, Amie, Katie, and Dante. Brothers Alfred (Maude), Frederick; Sister Christena (Melvin); and a wide circle of nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Jeanetta; Brothers Erastus, Archibald, Ulet; and Sister Emily Decker. Visitation was held from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour from where the funeral took place on July 11th, 2017 with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating.
