BROWN, BARBARA

Barbara Brown (nee Samson), Brig Bay, NL, October 14th, 1941 – February 3rd, 2020 Passed peacefully away in the arms of the Lord on February 3rd, 2020, at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre at the age of 78. She leaves with fond memories her daughter, Diane, son in-law Douglas, granddaughter Brittany (Dale Herter), step-daughter Christine (Wilson Pickett), sister Elsie, sister in laws Eileen (Cecil Dominaux), Jessie, Bernice, aunt Ursula, and special nieces, Marilyn and Linda. She is predeceased by her husband Wilson, parents Peter and Bessie, sister Marina and brothers: Thomas, Hiram, Conrad, and Kevin, brother in-law Grant, sister-in laws Emma and Effie. Barbara dearly loved her family, from Sundays spent at her parents’ house with her siblings, to extended vacations with her daughter and granddaughter in Ontario. As a true Newfoundlander, she loved a good game of cards and cooking her Sunday’s dinner. She will always be remembered for her caring heart and sense of humour. She is now resting peacefully and will forever be in our hearts. Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders for their care. “Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14 Visitation Was held At the Church of the Advent in Plum Point on Friday February 7th, with the family service held that night, the funeral service was held on Saturday Febuary 8th at 2:00pm with Rev. Deacon Vernon Short officiating, burial followed the service at the Brig Bay Anglican Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. FLYNN, CLIFFORD

He was born March 28, 1935 in Forteau Labrador. He married Sophia Una Chambers on October 20, 1957. Together they raised their two daughters in Blue Cove.  He worked as the lighthouse keeper on Belle Island for Thirty-five years.He passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 3rd day of September 2015, Mr. Clifford Flynn of Blue Cove was in his 80th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of Fifty-Seven years Sophia Una (Chambers) Flynn, his children Daisy(Vaughan), Samantha(Lyndon), Grandchildren Avery Cunard, Joshua Cunard, Brothers Clarance (Harrett), William(Lousia), Eric(Clara), Sisters Una(Lloyde), Phyllis(Kenneth), Sister-in-Laws Mary and Sue as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his Father Edward Flynn, Mother Pearl Flynn, and his Brothers Robert and Almond. Visitation was held at the Church of Advent in Plum Point from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Monday September 7, 2015 with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Burial followed in the Anglican cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

SAMSON, DONALD HIRAM

Passed Away into peace in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, Mr. Donald Hiram Samson Jr. of Brig Bay on the 1st of November 2014, in his 60th year. Left Mourning with heavy hearts are his dear wife Myrtle and Son Mitchel (Gina), brother Maitland, Sisters Sheila (Wallace), Rose (Paul), Amanda (Claude) and Colette (Dave), Parents in Law Stedman and Alma Genge, Brothers in law Claude (Daphney), Henry (Marion), Harvey, Lavina), Roy (Priscilla), Stedman (Karen) sister in law Nancy (Pat), Neices and Nephews Sheldon (Marilyn), Philip (Terri), Kelly (Scott), Sean (Sasha), Nicolas, Aaron, Russ, Jillian, Dwayne (Tina), Claude JR. (Alva), Tyrone (Joanne), Maurice (Melissa), Tobi (Bud), Jordan (Jessica), Candice, Natasha, Tyler and Christopher (Effie). Great Nieces Bryanna, Victoria and Mackenzie, Great Nephews Austin, Nichalos, Brode, Jarred, Sheldon (Kayla). Despite his young age, Donald lived to see the passing of his parents Rowena and Donald Sr. and his sister in law Marilyn.  Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Tuesday November 4th with Rev. Harold Harvey Officiating. Burial followed the Service at the Pond Cove Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, Memorial donations can be made to The Church of The Advent Box 75, Plum Point NL. TOOPE, GEORGE

Passes away Suddenly in Pond Cove on the 28th of April, 2014, Mr. George Toope, in his 63rd year. Left behind with heavy hearts are Sybil, Mack (Shirley), Vicki (Cleon), Shannon (Krystle), Brandon (Jenine), Josh, Jorja, Jaxon they will keep him in their hearts forever. though he was a young man, George lived to see the passing of his parents Oliver and Deborah Toope. Visitation was held at the The Church of The Advent in Plum Point, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 3rd, with rev. Harold Harvey Officiating. burial followed the service in the community Cemetery at Darby's Island. Funeral Arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Center on the 5th day of January 2014. Mrs. Joyce Coombs of Plum Point was in her 82nd year. Coombs(Hiram), Nancy Ann Coombs(Ralph), Elizabeth  House (Dean),Grandsons  Daris G. Coombs(Sheila), Gavin W. Coombs, Bradley Coombs, David Coombs, Curtis R. Diamond, Benjamin Coombs, Granddaughters Medina Genge(Toma), Sandra Coombs, Lisa Coombs, Edna Coombs, Great Grandchildren Cole Coombs, Carla Coombs, Kyus Coombs, Sisters Bertha Payne(Samson), Judy Gibbons(Samson), and Brother Julian Samson as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her Husband George W. Coombs, Mother Sarah Samson(Hoddinott), Fahter Frank Samson, Brothers Garland Samson, Chesley Samson, Sisters Daisy Saunders, Grace Taylor, Alma Samson, Rosie Chambers. Visitation was held at the church of Advent in Plum Point followed by the funeral service at 11:00am on the 9th day of January 2014 with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Internment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director.

CHAMBERS, OLGA

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 7th day of October 2013. Mrs. Olga Chambers of  Blue Cove was in her 82nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Daughter Eva Taylor (Lorenzo), Son Jacob Chambers(Millie), grandchildren Jebby Taylor(Adrienne), Jeffrey Taylor(Kelly), Jacob Chambers(Karen), Ian Chambers(Shauna), Great-Grandchildren Alona, Madison, Brooke, Katie, Luke, Sister Olive Samson as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Chambers and her parents Charles and Eva Genge. Visitation was held at The Church of Advent in Plum Point from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 10 day of October2013 with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Interment took place over on Darby’s Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director
