Gladys (Chambers) Gibbons

September 15, 1926 - January 23, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys (Chambers) Gibbons announced her peaceful passing on January 23, 2023, at the age of 96, at the Rufus Guinchard Health Center in Port Saunders.

Leaving to mourn with lots of great memories are her children, Edith (Leslie) Toope, Bill (Daisy) Gibbons, Lesley Hillier, Virginia (Jim) Bradford, Vony ( Enos) Langdon, Ivy Toope, and Roy (Eliza) Gibbons.

Her grandchildren Gladys, Loretta, Melanie, Gina, Robert, James, Jessica, Ian, Devon, Jamie, Louis, Lynette, and Alex, and their partners.

Her great grandchildren Ashton, Aidan, Brooke, Luke, Hannah, Kate, Henry, Sophia, Billie, Kingstyn, Finley, and Jade and her sister-in-law Virginia Gibbons, as well as a large number of special nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jonathan and Mary Chambers, her husband Roy Sr., her children Louis and Dorcas, her grandson Stefan Gibbons, her son-in-law Graydon Toope, and her grandson- in- law Gary Doyle, as well as all her brothers and sisters.

Gladys grew up in Blue Cove and on February 3, 1952 she married Roy Gibbons and moved to St. Genevieve Bay where they raised their family until 1976, when they moved to Plum Point. Gladys had a large extended family whom she loved to have visits with and to chat with on the telephone and kept in touch with them all. She certainly enjoyed her calls and visits from everyone. She loved hearing about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

The family would like to send a big thank you to the staff at the Ivy Durley Place in Flower’s Cove where she lived for 13 years. She made many friends there with the other residents and the staff. We cannot thank them enough for the great care they gave her while she was there. We would also like to thank the staff in Long Term Care at the Rufus Guinchard Hospital in Port Saunders for the special care they gave our mom during her time there.

Family service will take place on Thursday, January 26 at 8pm and the funeral service will be on Friday, January 27 at 11am form the church of the advent in Plum Point with Rev. Terry Coates Officiating

SAMSON, KEVIN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin on March 22, 2019 at the age of 65 years. he leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories his partner Ruth Sheppard, his sisters Elsie Cunard and Barbara Brown, as well as many nieces and nephews, as well as his special aunt Ursula Chambers. Kevin was predeceased by his parents peter and Bessie Samson, sister marina and brothers Tom, Hiram and Conrad. Visitation will take place on Sunday march 31, 2019 from 7-9pm at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point, from which the funeral service will take place on Monday, April 1st, 2019 at 2:00pm with Rev. GIBBONS, ISAAC JESSE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Isaac Jesse Gibbons announces his passing on Oct. 3, 2014 in Bird Cove at the age of 55 years. Leaving to mourn wife Patsy; sons Rendell and Ryan; mother Rachel; brothers George and Wallace; brothers-in-law Pius, Maxwell, Jim, Wayne, Dean, Don and Jim; sisters- in-law Patsy, Selina, Maxine, Yvonne, Pauline, Janet, Nadine and Jessie; nieces Kayla, Jasmin, Tracy, Janaya and Meghan; nephews Isaac, Alex, Dylan, Sheldon, Shawn, Tyson and Matt; mother-in-law Melina Gould, as well as a circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by father Isaac and father-in-law Pius. Visitation took place at the Church of the Advent Church in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6 with Rev. Harvey and layperson Matt Osbourne officiating. COOMBS, MYRTLE

Born on Current Island on the 16th day of September 1937 she eventually moved to Plum Point where she raised her family. Later in life she moved to the Dove Complex in Norris Point. On the 14th day of September Myrtle passed peacefully away at the Bon Bay Health Center. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires her Son Rodney(Rachel), Daughters Evelyn(Doug) and Minnie(Marcel), Granddaughter Shelley, Grandsons Ryan, Joe and Bradly, Brothers William and George(Mamie), Sisters Caroline, Ruby, and Virginia(Calvin), Brothers-in-law Jim, Joe and Gerald, Sisters-in-law Lillian, Velma, and Masie, Special Friends Harvey Mudge, Patsy, Gerald and Roland, Elaine, Mary, Teressa, Lizzy Walter, Richard and Doris as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her Father Walter, Mother Amelia, Brothers Jacob and John, Sister Matilda. The visitation was held at the Church of Advent in Plum Point from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 17th day of September 2014 with rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Homes Ltd., St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger funeral director.

SAMSON, THOMAS GARDNER

Tom was born to Bessie and Peter Samson on July 30th, 1944, on December. 31st, 1965 he married Jessie Parrill. They had one son, Dean. Family was very important to tom, He dearly loved and appreciated each and every one of them. he enjoyed his job as a heavy equipment operator and always felt comfortable and happy machinery. in his spare time he liked to go fishing and hunting, he truly loved the great outdoors.Tom passed away into peace at the Charles s. Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony on the 25th of may, 2014 in his 69th year. left with fond and loving memories of his life are his dear wife of 48 years Jessie, his dean (Michelle) and Granddaughter Kayla; Sisters Barbara, Elsie (Grant) and brother Kevin; Sister in law Bernice; Brothers in law Grenfell (Eliza) and Clyde (Brenda). in his years, Thomas lived to see the passing of his parents Peter and Bessie Samson; his special sister Marina; and brothers Hiram and Conrad. Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point, From Which the Funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on Wednesday May 28th, 2014 with Rev. TOOPE, GEORGE

Passes away Suddenly in Pond Cove on the 28th of April, 2014, Mr. George Toope, in his 63rd year. Left behind with heavy hearts are Sybil, Mack (Shirley), Vicki (Cleon), Shannon (Krystle), Brandon (Jenine), Josh, Jorja, Jaxon they will keep him in their hearts forever. though he was a young man, George lived to see the passing of his parents Oliver and Deborah Toope. Visitation was held at the The Church of The Advent in Plum Point, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 3rd, with rev.
