CARROLL, ELIZABETH MARY

Elizabeth Mary Carroll (Hancock) passed peacefully away at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on Oct 24/24 at the age of 82. She was a loving mom to her 6 children, a heart of gold. Left to mourn her children Anita, Joe(Terry Lyn), Agnes(Austin), Calvin(Frances), Todd(Rhonda), Beverly. 11 grandchildren Denata(Shaun), Victoria(Nicholas), Gregory(Nicole), Alexander(Megan), Jesse, Shawn(Elizabeth), Olivia(Ravii), Jonathon(Hannah) Brandon, Shannon. 5 great grand children, sister Theresa Reardon, brother Phillip ( Gail), brother in law Guy Howell, special friend Frances Lewis. Predeceased by her mom and dad Agnes and Joseph Hancock, brother John and sister Margaret Howell, brother in law Ed Reardon.

Thank you to the staff Charles Curtis Hospital for the wonderful care and love ye gave our mom this pass 5 months, ye are angels, also staff of Shirley’s Haven for the last 15 years there, she dearly loved it there, and the staff.

COMPTON, MARY HELLEN

Mary Hellen Compton (nee Colbourne) of Roddickton passed away October 7, 2024, age 74, at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by family.

Mary was a lifelong member of the John Wesley United Church of Roddickton.  She was an avid reader and loved to knit, quilt and cross stitch.  She took great pride in her work as Conche Post Mistress and always had a pot of soup and fresh bread baking when one of her boys came home.  Her happiest times were spent visiting and laughing with her sisters and friends.

Mary will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 56 years Garfield Compton; sons Tom (Stephanie), Peter (Elizabeth), and Perry (Rebecca); sister Mabel (Norman); sisters-in-law Betty Colbourne and Patricia Colbourne; brothers in law Leighton Patey and Norman Tiller; grandchildren Joshua, Reagan, Sable and Anson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Castalena Colbourne; brothers Ernest and Willie; sisters Edna and Bernice and parents in law Albert and Velma Compton.

Friends may come to celebrate Mary’s life October 26, 2024 at 2pm from the John Wesley United Church Roddickton.

Taken from this life at the White Bay Central Health Center in Roddickton at the young age of 48 years Mrs. Theresa Mary Mitchell of Englee. Left with heavy hearts to mourn her passing are her partner of 35 years Frank Parsons, her Daughters Joanne (Dwayne) of Englee NL., and Darlene (Shawn) of Englee NL., granddaughters Destiny and Cynthia and her mother Janet Mitchell, as well as 3 brothers, 5 sister, and a large circle of family and friends. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee, from which the funeral service took place at 3:00pm on the 14th of November with Major Bingle officiating. Burial followed the service at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

It is with great sadness that the Simmonds family announce the passing of our darling mother, Mary Jane Simmonds peacefully at her home on Saturday July 13th at the age of 87. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Wilfred, Tom (Rose), Ron (Loretta). Daughters Nellie (Gerald), Alice (Tony), Bridget (Gary), Joan, Angela (Gerard), Doreen and brother in law, Gerald Fitzgerald and great friends, Ida and cousin Rose and niece Therese and Hilda. Grandchildren Glenn (Jackie), Vanessa (Travis), Janey (Calvin), Reginald, Angela (Lawrence), Amanda, Tommy, Nadine, Nikita, Ryan, Jason (Myrna), Rhonda (Craig), Jamie ( Jessica), Brian (Erin), Perry (Nicola), Jodie, Alex (Vaida), Gerard (Tina), Marylee (Daniel) and the fur babies Cooper and Barkley. Great grandchildren Mikayla, Jack, Grace, Janelle, Liam, Chloe, Kylie, and Cole. A large circle of nephews, nieces, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, son Gerard, and grandson Andrew,  parents Ellen and Thomas Hunt, brothers Herbert (Nora), Patrick (Margaret). Sisters Laura (Bernard), Carmel (Ronald) and Doreen. Sister in laws Margaret (James), Nellie, Bride (Walter). Brother in laws Peter, Jack (Kathleen), and Micheal (Elizabeth). Visitation was held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from which the funeral mass was held at 2:00pm on the 16th day of July 2013 with Father Vitus Echedo officiating. Interemnt followed in the New Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral Director.

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 10th of May 2013, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mahar of Bird Cove in her 60th year. Mary leave behind her Children Dermot, Desmond (Vanessa), and Gorvin (Nicole), her Grandchildren Riley, kloe, and Jacklyn, her Father Ambrose, brothers and sisters Christopher, Leo(Darlene), Tom, Kevin (Ramona), Angela, Jackie (Austin), and Ambrose. Despite her young age she lived to see the loss of her Mother Mary (Kennedy) Mahar, her husband Christopher, her Brother Ambrose.  Visitation was held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove, from which the funeral service took place at 11:00am on Tuesday with Father Ambrose Hynes Officiating.
