LYONS, JAMES

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Scott Lyons announce his passing on June 26, 2024, at the age of 44. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Heidi, his children Madisyn and Caleb; mother Sharlene Martin; father and step-mother David & Therese Lyons; mother and father in law Wilson & Marjorie Budden; His sister Jennifer(Matt); stepbrother Jamie(Jennifer); stepsister Jennifer(Darrell); brother in law Christopher(Judy). His nephew Joe; nieces Erica, Kaleigh, Julia, Abbegayle, Amelia & Kaitlyn.  He will be sadly missed by his energetic and loving pet Champ! James was a strong man, demonstrated by his perseverance and faith throughout his illness. He loved his family immeasurably, his faith in God and the Edmonton Oilers.  He served in the RCAF as an air traffic controller and after 21 1/2 years of service, he moved to Gander, NL with his family to start a new career with NAV CANADA. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A public visitation will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Roddickton, NL on July 5 between 2 and 4 PM and 7 and 9 PM.

Funeral service for James will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Roddickton, NL. Burial will follow at the Calvary Pentecostal Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Health Sciences Center who cared for James during his time there. Sincere thanks go out to all those who offered prayers, support and hospitality during this difficult time.

SAUNDERS, HERBERT BAXTER

Passed away surrounded by family on June 29, Herb Saunders of St. Lunaire, at the age of 82 Predeceased by his parents, Olive and Fred Saunders, sister Gladys, and Grandchildren David and Adrienne. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Evangeline, his daughters Lynn (Mike) and Janice, his son Boyd (Jennifer), 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also, his 4 brothers, 5 sisters and a vast circle of friends and family He was a fisherman for the majority of his life and loved working with his hands. He loved to pass on his knowledge and skills to his kids, grandkids, and anyone who wanted to learn. He enjoyed everything “outdoors”, fishing, hunting, cutting wood and cutting moose and his favorite pastime was berrypicking. He had an impact on many lives, everyone he's met, and will be forever missed and loved.
Visitation is being held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire - Griquet on Monday July 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, with the funeral service being held at 2pm on July 2nd, 2024 with pastors Geoff and Charity butler officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

STONE, DONALD FREDERICK

Donald Frederick Stone
May 9, 1936 – June 26, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Donald Frederick Stone announce his passing in the presence of his youngest brother on June 26, 2024 at the Labrador - Grenfell Health Long Term Care Facility in Labrador City at the age of 88.

Donald was born in Mary’s Harbour, Labrador on May 9th,1936 and grew up and lived in Henley Harbour, Labrador where he spent most of his life fishing, hunting, cutting wood and sawing lumber to care for family and he loved every minute of it. He was a proud Labradorian who had fond memories of his homestead on the coast of labrador. He lived a full life and had numerous stories to tell, true or untrue, no one knows. His great sense of humour will be fondly remembered. Donald was a kind man who touched the lives of many.

Donald will be dearly missed by his surviving brothers Herbert, Raymond, Roderick, Harvey and sisters Effie and Nellie.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Agnes, sisters Margaret, Eva, Judy and brother Jack.

The family would like to thank the staff of Labrador - Grenfell Long Term Care Home for their kindness and support in our time of need.

As per Donald’s request, cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced later.

KEATS, EDWARD RALPH

Edward Ralph (Ricky) Keats

Ralph (Ricky) Keats passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony, on June 17, 2022, with his family, at his side.

He was born in St. Anthony on July 2, 1932, the son of Samuel and Emma Keats. Ralph married Mabel Moores from Red Bay, Labrador on January 16, 1963. They had three children, Sharon, Shawn, and Terry.

Ralph worked with the Department of Highways as a heavy equipment operator for twenty-five years. He enjoyed the outdoors -- gardening, fishing, hunting, berry picking…

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mabel, sons Shawn (Madonna) and Terry, grandson, Mark, and sister Gertie.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon, parents Samuel and Emma Keats, brothers Baxter, Joseph, and Raymond, and sister Edna.


RUMBOLT, ARTHUR MICHAEL

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Arthur Rumbolt age 84, of Castor River South on June 17, 2022 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years (Clara) and all of his loving family.

Art was born on St. John's Island on July 29, 1937 to Lawerence Rumbolt and Jane Gaulton (pre deceased).

He married the love of his life Clara Tatchell on July 26, 1959 and started their family in December 1960.

Art was a very hard working man. He fished along side his brother Lawerence until he retired.

He loved to visit his cabin and go sight seeing for moose, he spent lots of time at the gardens, wood, lawn and berry picking. Although this wasn't his favourite thing to do (LOL), he always went along with his wife. He loved playing cards, especially a good game of poker and spending time with his family.

His family and wife were everything to him. He was a very devoted husband, dad and pop. He loved to see his family visit. He has many fond memories of the time they have shared.

He is survived by his four sons Lyman (Edna) Rumbolt, Luke (Theresa) Rumbolt, Jim (Phyllis) Rumbolt, Stewart (Jessie) Rumbolt. His four daughters Eliza (Stewart) Tatchell, Alva (George) Tatchell, Velma Rumbolt, Vina (Tony) Plowman.

Grandchildren Linda (Dion) Caines, Marvin (Terra-Lynn) Tatchell, Joshua (Kim) Tatchell, Lyman jr. (Sabrina) White, Mindy (Blake) Skappak, Kendra (Kerry) Plowman, Kandice Plowman and Reid Myers.

Great grandchildren Colby Baines, Carly Tatchell, Brielle Rumbolt, Marian Rumbolt, Adrian Rumbolt and Lincoln Skappak, And a large circle of family and friends

Art was brother to Ralph (Laura) Gaulton (pre deceased), Lawrence (Rebecca) Rumbolt, John Genneaux (pre deceased), Frank (Irene) Rumbolt, Cliff (Erma) Rumbolt, Kevin (Carmelita) Rumbolt.

Sisters Dulcie (pre deceased) (William) Tatchell and Bridget (Donald)(pre deceased) Scanlon.

Rosary will take place on June 18, 2022 at Queen of The Angels in Castor River South at 7:30 p.m. Family service will take place June 19, 2022 at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will take place June 20, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Queen of The Angels Church in Castor River South with Fr. Rossi Officating, cremation to follow at a later date.

The family wishes to thank those who visited, sent gifts, food, messages, prayers and calls during their time in St. Anthony.

Thank you to the staff of the Dialysis Unit at Curtis Memorial Hospital. You were wonderful to him. Also, thanks to the staff in Palliative Care Unit, your thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lemuel Taylor announce his passing on Saturday June 19, 2021 at The Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 75 years. Leaving to Mourne his passing are his sisters Pearl (Carl) Milley, Fayne (Joe) Buggy and Maude Burry. brother Glenn (Barba) Taylor, Sister In Law Millicent Taylor. although he had no children of his own he had a large circle of Nieces and Nephews - Lynette (Derek) Saunders, Don (Leona) Milly, Greg (Judy) Milley, Roger taylor, Jeff (Shirley) Taylor, Gaie (Ken) Payne, Beberly (Wade) Payne, Sean (Emily) Buggy, Mark Buggy, Kim (Dave) Cabers, Craig (Gaitaine) Burry, Brian (Tracy) Taylor, Toma (Valerie) Taylor, Joe (Leslie) Taylor, A very large of great and great great Nieces and Nephews that he considered his own with endless amounts of love and compassion. Lemuel was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Mae Taylor, Brother Edmund Taylor and Brother in Law Don Burry and Great Nephew Austin Taylor. EDISON, MARTHA ALICE

Martha Alice (Tucker) Edison was born to Thomas and Eliza of Ship Cove, NL on Dec. 13, 1926. Alice married the love of her life Jacob Edison of Hay Cove on Sept. 28th, 1948, where together they raised their family. Allie, As she was affectionately called by Jake, loved her children and grandchildren and they both Enjoyed visits form them all. When Jake passed away in 1992 she moved to Griquet and lived with her daughters until moving into Shirley’s haven in 2013. Alice enjoyed the simple pleasure in life, she cherished every gift someone gave her. She loved going for rides in car and looked forward to her Sunday car rides with her son John. Her favourite pass time was knitting, she would knit a baby sweater for anyone she knew that was having a baby. She loved her nighttime lunch of cheesies and the occasional lunch at Herb’s. Alice always had a smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Alice leaves to mourn with cherished memories her daughters Inice (Francis), Gloria (Albert), Deborah (Duncan), Daisy, Dora (Bob), Son Ramsey, Daughter in law Bessie, 14 Grandchildren and 17 Great grandchildren as well as Sister, Delilah. Alice was predeceased by her father Thomas, mother Eliza, husband Jacob and son John. The memorial service was held at Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home in St. Anthony NL with Rev. John McGonigle Officiating, Burial followed the Service at the Community Cemetery in L’anse Aux Meadows. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Passed away peacefully surrounded by Family at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mr. Allan Roy Tucker of Quirpon NL, in his 79th year. Left behind to mourn his loss are his beloved wife of 53 years Linda, his Children Deon Kelloway (Christa), Dereck Tucker (Jennifer) and Debbie Humby (Chris); his Brothers Levi (Nina - Deceased), Roland (Minnie), Les (Millicent), Carl (Joyce), Wilburt (Irene), Sister Pearl Earl (Herb), Brothers Alwin (Millicent) and Gary (Marion); his grandchildren Charlie, Morgan, Megan, Jack, Sam, and his Great Great Grandchildren Logan, Brooke, Brittney and Anwen. Roy was predeceased by his parents Arch and Aurelia and tragically, his grandson David. A celebration of Roy’s life will be held by the family at a later date, after which burial will take place at the Quirpon Community Cemetery in Quirpon NL.

Passed away into peace on the 31st day of May, 2020, Emmie Jane Gladys Strangemore. Left to mourn Emmie’s passing are her Husband Clayton, Children Cynthia, Pauline, Scott and Eric, Her Grandchildren Adam, Shelly, Matthew, Austin, Samantha, Elvis, Rico, Stephanie s., Stephanie M., Blaine, Stacy-Ann, Demitre, Brendan, Jackson as well as many great grandchildren and extended family and friends. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, June 6th 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL at 73 years of age.

She is predeceased by Husbands Stanley Fillier and Roy Hopkins, Parents Chesley and Flossie Cassell, Brother’s Harrison and David Cassell.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her Children; Marlene (Wayne), Derrick (Bonnie), Jackie (Dennis), Debbie (Dean), Pauline (Joshua), and Connie (Jason), eleven Grand Children, four Great Grand Children, two Sisters, two Brother’s, Nieces, Nephews, and a large circle of Family and Friends.
